"n my honest opinion the Garrett Vortex VX 9 is the best 'simultaneous multifrequency waterproof current? For $500 all a metal detectorist would have to do is find one ounce of gold and it would pay for approximately (4) four Garrett Vortex VX 9? That sounds like the best deal around"? When this is read cumulatively it is hard to say this is anyones' 'opinion'! When I posted this every sentence has a question mark and can only be read in the cumulative. When I read I know to read the punctuation marks it changes everything about English language. All of my fellow members are being asked to provide their own 'opinion'. When I read any one eleses' post I would never post anything derogatory. Never nothing but a pleasantry.
That is a positive/constructive post. Maybe Garrett will address that and provide a higher frequency for the metal detectorist to have the higher frequency for gold. I will be watching Garrett to see what they do. Thank you xindaris. With the other fixes people have mentioned that Garrett needs to fix, if Garrett really expects it to excel in gold they are going to have to add 40 kHz to the multi frequency band which will probably mean designing a new coil.
Leatherneck... you are a positive poster and indeed a big fan of the vx9, so I'll make the assumption you are an owner and operator of the unit. Are you in the states or an overseas user ? I personally am done spending 1000 bucks and more on detectors so the price point on this new garrett seems reasonable. Once more hands have been used on the unit and legitimate feedback has been made, and more importantly to me how it operates on a salt water beach and waterproof capabilities. Time will definitely be the deciding factor if I make the purchase for one. That is a positive/constructive post. I would be remiss if I did not commend John-Edmonton for recognizing that the supporters of this great forum could not receive any disrespect. If it weren't for the manufacturers of the various companies, we would not have such a wonderful forum. It has improved depth in the higher conductors. Depth is relative to so many factors. The last thing I want to see is a "mines better then yours" scenario. Folks who have been metal detecting for a very long time have a good understanding about depth.I am a D2 user but I am interested in the Vortex. I like what I saw on the latest Garrett 2.07 Video but another Video showed that seriously suffered from depth. Hopefully someone will make a comparison video.
Depth is relative to many many factors. Anyone who has detected for many many years knows this. Depth should not be the #1 reason for choosing a metal detector. If you want more depth, you have the option of purchasing a larger coil.I am a D2 user but I am interested in the Vortex. What TID does the Vortex display on a Pull Tab?Depth is relative to many many factors. Anyone who has detected for many many years knows this. Depth should not be the #1 reason for choosing a metal detector. If you want more depth, you have the option of purchasing a larger coil.
Take a lot of these "depth" videos with a grain of salt. We all hope our machines get decent depth, and pretty well all the makes and models will do that today. Speaking with Garrett, I was told that the latest software update increased the depth on high conductors like silver and copper on the Vortex. I don't have a Vortex currently, however the best answer is to see what designated number represents it in your soil. That is a metal detector user's most accurate answer and responsibility. The numbers will vary based of depth, mineralization, pull tab type etc. VDI numbers are not 100% the same at all times across the board. The Vortex has a 100 numerical spread to help ID targets. The higher the number, the greater accuracy. I'm not going to get into precise detector comparisons, but some machines operate on a smaller scale. What TID does the Vortex display on a Pull Tab?
