The New Garrett VORTEX VX9 Just Got A Whole Lot Better!

Fellow members continue putting positive/constructive request here, and other places, I know you will anyway. lol (no one needs my permission). The manufacturers do listen? After all, why wouldn't they? The market is saturated! lol In my honest opinion the Garrett Vortex VX 9 is the best 'simultaneous multifrequency waterproof current? For $500 all a metal detectorist would have to do is find one ounce of gold and it would pay for approximately (4) four Garrett Vortex VX 9? That sounds like the best deal around?

Just a reminder that this is a Garrett forum, available for all for getting/giving Garrett support, posting finds and being used in a respectable manner. Deviating too far from this will result in posts being removed. Thanks for your understanding.

With the other fixes people have mentioned that Garrett needs to fix, if Garrett really expects it to excel in gold they are going to have to add 40 kHz to the multi frequency band which will probably mean designing a new coil.

When this is read cumulatively it is hard to say this is anyones' 'opinion'! When I posted this every sentence has a question mark and can only be read in the cumulative. When I read I know to read the punctuation marks it changes everything about English language. All of my fellow members are being asked to provide their own 'opinion'. When I read any one eleses' post I would never post anything derogatory. Never nothing but a pleasantry.

That is a positive/constructive post. Maybe Garrett will address that and provide a higher frequency for the metal detectorist to have the higher frequency for gold. I will be watching Garrett to see what they do. Thank you xindaris.

Leatherneck... you are a positive poster and indeed a big fan of the vx9, so I'll make the assumption you are an owner and operator of the unit. Are you in the states or an overseas user ? I personally am done spending 1000 bucks and more on detectors so the price point on this new garrett seems reasonable. Once more hands have been used on the unit and legitimate feedback has been made, and more importantly to me how it operates on a salt water beach and waterproof capabilities. Time will definitely be the deciding factor if I make the purchase for one.
Hope to see more guys/gals posting soon on what they think about the detector.

I live in Texas and have been metal detecting since the 1970’s. The first detector that wasn’t a military one that I used was a Garrett Ground Hog that a friend left with me to use. Later I bought Garrett’s of my own, the Ace, ADS 7 and Infinium. I still have the Infinium. Today I also have an ORX and a Notka FORS CORE. All detectors have their strong and weak points. One thing I liked about Garrett was that their customer support was the best in the industry. I have a close friend that hunted with White’s and Technetics detectors. If you hunted with him you would swear that the detector he was using was the best. The fact was he just had that sense that told him where people would lose things. Once we were hunting around a school house and he has hunting in a place I didn’t think would hold anything. But he was finding silver after silver. I asked him why did you pick this place. He said at recess time this is the only part of the yard that would be in the shade and that is where I would sit my ass. And the other thing I learned from him was never buy the first edition of anything, they always have problems. Today they can fix them with updates but I still wait until they do. I am old and don’t have the patience I once did. I have faith that Garrett will work out all their bugs just like all the other detector companies have done and continue doing. There is no perfect detector, the best one is the one you know how to use the best.

I would be remiss if I did not commend John-Edmonton for recognizing that the supporters of this great forum could not receive any disrespect. If it weren't for the manufacturers of the various companies, we would not have such a wonderful forum. Thank you!
