TO ALL MY MINELAB BUDDYS
it is hard on some newbees starting out with there first FBS UNITE. so we need to help all are friends out there and get them
off on the right foot. it is hard to put years OF EXP. in 4 or 5 LINES so if we all chime in we can help are fellow minelab friends.first step is read
your manual!!!! i know most of us are not in to that so start reading in parts. you can skip XCHANGE 2 AND GPS FOR NOW and read about CONTROL PANEL this is your first step if your pass that next i would read on NOISE CANCEL you will be useing this every time out. make sure you under stand CONTROL PANEL you will be useing this more and more every time your out.next your FACTORY PRESETS they are your MODES YOU WILL PLAY
WITH. i would take 2 of them and remove some of the disk.pattern 2 learn your CTX try a coin mode and a silver mode and set up your TONE PROFLE
keep it simple keep it stupid maybe a TTF in one and TTC in the other.now we come to TARGET SEPERATION one mode FC. FOR ALL MY FRIENDS
AND GC IN THE OTHER MODE. TONES I WOULD SET LONG 4 NOW / THESHOLD LEVEL so you can here VOLUM GAIN 20-22 this is a good no#
to stay with makes the deep dimes sound deep.VOL. LIMIT IS YOUR VOLUME CONTROL so you dont blow your ears out start at 8-10 and go from
there. you can change thing up if needed wen you understand your CTX better. use auto ground balance and auto + sensitivity until you under your CTX
i know most of us want to go like hell but take your time this is a must. if you take in more than you can handle you will make your self NUTS!!!!!!!
OK NOW turn on your CTX and do a noise cancel this is your 2nd. step you now are going to swing around and look at your SENSITIVITY NO#
they are telling you how good or bad your ground is we are running AUTO +3 IF WE SEE 10-15 WE ARE ON BAD GROUND IF WE SEE 23-17 NOW
WE ARE ON MED GROUND IF WE SEE 25-20 THIS IS SWEET GROUND scroll to your mode inFC. and set the other mode up so you can jump
back and double check your signels and have at it!!!!!!!!
i hope some of my fellow minelab buddy will chime in and help one and all 4 united we stand this will get you started and if i forget something please
chime in.

best of luck we are here 4-u any time day or night and there is no such thing as a dumb question remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ctx is great for coins solid vdi and #s on coins that have no trash by them almost to easy .The coins that are left in most public places are in the trash and that's where the ctx shines .

Using any mode well find coins that are not with trash and do it well .

To hunt in trash pull-tabs foil and can slaw not much of a problem screw caps well be a problem good #s and id hard not to dig .
Round and almost round iron are very hard to tell you well dig these .

Now the biggest problem for beginners well be iron if your going to hunt in trash this is the most important thing you have got to know. How to tell a false if you get a good hit and the #s are showing in the coin range sweep east and west then north and south mentally mark the spot on the ground where the high tone is coming from when you pinpoint dose it stay where you marked it on the ground if it dose dig if not pass .there are other things to look in the future for but for now get good at falses this well save you a lot of time and frustration .

This really is the key to this detector learning what iron is and how it reacts once you understand iron then you can start to learn the many modes and settings the ctx has to offer. sube

NICE SUBE
also to all new bees try to stay out of real trashey spots if you can until you have a good handle on your CTX. YOU WILL THANK US LATER
again dont make it harder on your self all good things will come.it is tough enough to learn a FBS UNIT rember small steps at first learn the CTX
and you will find the good stuff later. keep your sweep speed 3-4 sec. swings. pulltabs can drive you nuts 12-15/12-22/12-25 after you dig a few
you can tell also i like to take the good stuff first nickels dimes quarters silver/rings. you can come back over later wen you run out of good signals
and look for GOLD RINGS and pulltabs and iffy signals. we will go over disk. patterns at a later date or as you request have fun while you learn
you will see the CTX3030 is not to hard to learn wen you take small steps. try to take notes it may help you learn quicker. a long time ago
i wanted to learn how to deer hunt so what i did was to take a little bit of info from every one and put my own tech. together and i think you will be
able to do the same good luck and keep them questions comming

Amberjack said that's right listen to everyone and follow no one
I like that line. sube

HI SUBE
yes you got to love it!! i am working on disk patterns and tone brakes now and i did see something that got my ATT. IN ONE OF MY MODES I HAVE
TTF AND GC. IN A SILVER PROGRAM on a deep target with tone brake at 20 my deep target signal was iffy wen i lowered my tone brake to 25
line it sounded off real nice 8in. dime just running smooth fast and deep OFF SO A LITTLE THING LIKE THAT had big results!!!!!

just though you would like to know NOW I GOT TO THINK how many more tricks are built into the DIRTY-30

HAVE FUN
PS FOUND A 26 MERK AND A LIBERTY NICKEL late 1800-1900 date is hard to see

HI SUBE
yes i red dans delama makes you wonder!!!!!!! now we can talk more on my e-mail on that subjet but, that brings up what i said about makeing
thousands of detectors no 2 are alike. MINELABS DONT AIR TEST WELL and every body needs to know this wen testing. IN GROUND NOW is
differant story. MONTY NAIL BOARD TEST is cool if your detector can do it. now in ground my MINELAB CAN DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT
I i have dug many dimes in a bed of nails or something like that. MONTY AND DAN have been detecting a long time and they know there detectors
geting back to why we miss targets can be no#1 swinging to fast no#2 is not knowing how to set up your detector and no#3 is just plane
MISSING THE FU!!!!!! THING. now we know in my case all 3 but missing a target only means that there is another day hunting there.i cant
tell you how many times i have been back and found things NOW WAS IT ME OR THE DETECTOR ??????? there are many things that can
effect performance how was the ground that day? to dry to wet to humid out mineralized ground or not now the prosser has to come up with
a game plan to use. so you see may not be human error on that day.
now wen we talk about DISC PATTERN sometimes it is needed. shure ALL METAL is the only way to go but with all that junk out
there we almost have to have a DISC PATTERN now i use MIN.DISC wen set up a pattern just what i need but allways have the 12 line wide
open and nickels dimes quarters half dollars silver dollars etc. now some would say YOUR GOING TO MISS THINGS and i say NO BIGGY
tomorow is another day!!!! i will run in ALL METAL wen the ground is not loaded with junk but if i hit a patch of ground that is BAD back in
disc pattern so i use every trick that the CTX gives me.wen i hit a patch of ground (trashy) i go into a slow mode and if needed back off on the power
go single tones normal and may opean screen up to M-2 and listen for the coin signels or watch to screen. this is how i found that lib. nickel and 26 merk.
in a trash area that i have been over many times before.so comeing up with your own tech. has worked 4-me and if i need to make
more changes i can. TESTING THE GROUND is another thing i use to find a good setting dig a 8in. hole push a coin down put the plug back in
and set up your detector. NEVER HURTS TO TRY THINGS use every trick in the book and then make up a few!!!!!!!!!!
well i hope we got something out of SATERDAY MORNING LEARNING SESSION time to go find some treasure

HAVE A GOOD DAY ONE AND ALL

WoW

CT TODD
comes up with another BIGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERMISSION before we go detecting NO# 1 RULE there are a few not to many that dont ask
and this is why some people wont let us go detecting ,so PLEASE ASK BEFORE YOU GO

THANKS TODD

Sometimes those of us who have been using the CTX3030 for so long forget what it was like when we first started swinging it. With that in mind, reflecting on some of the earlier posts would be a good idea for newbies. There have been over 41,000 posts made to this CTX3030 forum, and several hundred more topics added to the CTX Resource Center, since we started this forum. At that point in time, having been involved in with the project (product) for over 2 years, I was the only one who wasn't a "newbie" with the CTX. So in all honesty, there are a lot of "newbie" type questions throughout the timeline in this forum. I'm not diminishing the importance of asking and answering questions here. I am merely pointing out that, for those who may be apprehensive about asking questions, newbie or veteran, the SEARCH feature can lead you to many topics you might be interested in. There are also some great videos online, as well as some very informative posts on Minelab's website, under the Treasure Talk Blogs. JMHO HH Randy

HERE WE HAVE
A SAMPLE OF A PATTERN that i use in one of my modes. you can also see FE-CO NO# being pulled down to 17-41 you will
see this from time to time wen a IRON NAIL AND A COIN are close by!! PHOTO 2 shows a little more disc. and a 12-13 witch turn-
out to be a nickel. so you see many ways to set-up and find coins .also many tone IDs to try until you find one you like. so get out
there and try a few thing diff. you will never know till you try!!

OK SO NOW WE ARE HUNTING
in a trashey area now what do we do well it all depends on how bad it is, but to be safe 1st. if your not in auto get there. the more power you put out the more signels you are pulling in, makeing it a real mess to deal with. if your not useing a 6in. coil and have only the PRO COIL start by going into audio
get in to NORMAL AND TTC-TTF and slow down so your coil has time to check any thing under it.. a smooth audio will make you miss things before
it resets from here--------------to here can be 2 targets in smooth you will miss one 4-sure but in normal it will be something like here-----to here catching
the targets. single tones and normal with all metal recover real quick!!!!!!!!!! the BIGGY is move slow maybe FAST ON DEEP OFF and you can also play with tone ids also. on the norm i dont try to go deep in trash just makeing more trouble 4-u also some places need a disc. pattern or your ears will suffer bad
low tone iron you know what i mean HOPE THIS HELPS NOW GET OUT AND FIND SOME OF THEM GOODYS!!!!!!!!

KNOWING YOUR CTX
in and out will help you set up in most ground locations. many hrs. with it in hand is the only way.as months pass you will
see things start to form a pattern.you will still have days were you will dig trash but, that is the game we play.rember learn the CTX
lingo and you will find many things. wen i look for GOLD RINGS i dig many pulltab and that is ok 1 ring will pay you back in many ways.
iffy signals save for last and dig and find out i have broken many shovels digging ,and have found enough money to pay for them all. it is
a dirty job but we all love to see something at the bottom of the hole!!!!!!!!!!

MINELABBOB

MOST 2 WAY HITS
will be pritty clean if one way sounds good but the other way sounds iffy chances its a rusty nail falseing. easy to tell set up a silver
program with GROUND COIN AND OPEAN SCREEN or just block right corner. and go from your FERROUS COIN PROGRAM TO G.C. IF
its a rusty nail 9-10 times in G.C. it will go to bottom right. try digging a few and see if its a rusty nail or bolt. that is one way to find out or i
can say WORKS 4-ME!!
OK THEN, GET OUT THERE AND START SWINGING

GEO-HUNTS
can help wen it comes to covering some ground. not 100% but look at what we would miss, with out. many times i look at my
geo and seen were i missed. just think wen we did not have this TECHNOLOGY, how much did we leave behind . so try and see.
by now you can see what we have to use, were others dont. use this and find more COINS!!!!!!!!!!

OK LETS RECAP!!
we got are CTX on NOISE CANCLE and hit detect. in AUTO+ watching are SENCE so we know what POWER to
run. we pick out are mode open screen ( all metal) and we listen 4 how much trash is in the ground this tells us what or how to
set up are CTX not to bad you say ok run with open screen maby deep on if are ground no# were ok fast off 2-tone or combine
and go. sounds easy well it is wen you know your CTX. you will know wen to set this or that at any place you go dont be afraid
to change things here and there to see what happens you may find a better set-up to use. if you seem to be haveing any issues
dig a plug 6-7in. and put a dime at the bottom replace the plug and play with your settings untill you find a good setting to use

well time 4 me to get out and find some treasure GOOD LUCK

BOB
