Technically,...Fisher IS NOT Fisher anymore:unsure:

Moved all the manufacturing tools, and electronics testing facility and took all Fisher Engineers to Texas..then you are correct..They just bought the trademark name and are tooling their own detectors....Yes they are Fishers..but only by sake of name. Now is that good or bad...only time will tell that.Me personally I have noticed a big similarity in the new Fishers machines to the old Bounty Hunter machines...Including the style, looks and the sounds..Even the advertising "Coins up to 15".never saw that with anyone but Bounty Hunter machines..............Kinda deceptive too..Yes it may reach up to 15"..but I think that might be a Silver dollar size coin, or at least a half.. But just about everyone thinks wow 15" coins on all of them. Then when you only find dimes at 5 6 Inches your disappointed. It appears they also have not changed FT market practice...Cabala's had the F70 first..Mass market. Retail is their niche..always has been.
Now I am not knocking their practices..If they sell more, they can spend more....And they can work on better detectors..and newer designs. Question is will they strive for better detectors, or better mass appeal........Word is the president of company likes metal detectors..but a good president is worried more about profit and loss..( he should be)..........than having the best detector on the market.....We are a limited few in the big scheme of detecting..If you do not belong to a club, how many other detectists do you know??............Not many..So their objective is sell to the first timer..To parents of kids who may ,or may not become avid hunters...and sell them in retail outlets where mass numbers of people will buy a detector for vacations, or impulse purchases.. Original Fisher, Whites, Garrett, and others like George Payne( Bounty Hunter) were in the hobby first..and designed detectors to fit their needs..They were designed for better finds.........They also started small..many in their Garages......encouraged local hunters to be dealers and set up their sales net work like that...Not these guys. Not even Minelab does it any more.........They have moved on to different sales tactics.........No more local distributors.Have to be big sales to be competitive. Look at Whites, no really new detectors for a very long time..Why..Simple COST..and lots of it for development and marketing a new machine..So they refine what they have...add coils and hope for the best...........Same as any other company no matter what the product...So yes the names the same, but the product has changed...........I hope they all sell tons..so money is available for new products, and at prices you can afford...But do not expect the old school type of products or marketing..cause it just isn't going to happen..Profit or else..it's gone.

How do we know the" old Fisher" was really Fisher. I don't see the reasoning behind a pointless discussion like this. Let's face it boy's, times are a changing. Let's just have fun with what we got.---Wade

From left to right:
Mark Krieger, New Product Development Engineer
John Gardiner, Electronics Engineer
David Johnson (kneeling), Chief Engineer
Jorge Anton Saad, Electronics Engineer

Dave Johnson and John Gardiner. These two guys had a hand n just about every setector known to man in some way. Who are they working for? Where are they at now? Tx, XLT they did move it all.

and maybe you'll notice that John is holding an F-75 OVER Dave, who is fingering an E chord on "The Company" guitar. So what you say? This is their cryptic way of saying the F-75, the flagship product of First Texas Fisher, tops the E (for Explorer). Also you notice that Mark is holding an entry level BH and Jorge is on a motorcycle that's not a Harley. Again, you might say "so?" Those two pieces completes the overall message. We read progressively from left to right, correct? This says that even though there are some perceptions of FT only being a maker of cheap entry level detectors, they have in fact produced an entirely new premium format (Fisher) which can do what used to be unheard of (beat the Exp) and furthermore, as time goes on, they will progress down the road "riding" new technology and designs and not tradition and old technology (old FRL/ Harleys). It's sorta like the old Beatles pic when they were crossing the street in front of the Abbey Road studio and Paul didn't have his shoes on. Some multiple heavy deep hidden message stuff, guys! And if you do a properties check on this picture, and if your computer is capable of reading the embedded audio file and playing it ever so slowly in reverse, you'll hear a low demonic voice saying "The Explorer is dead, the Explorer is dead". :lmfao::lmfao::lmfao:

Makes sense to me, but regardless, NEW CO., OLD CO., I could care less. I know full well what my new co. F75 will do and the other detector companies flat out have a good deal of catching up to do...PERIOD! :super: HH jim tn

KOOL!...however!..it's a stretch!..(really!)

yeah!..that's NOT a stretch!..no (b.s!)

Some of these posts that whine about the new FRL makes me have to wrap duct tape around my head and I ran out so I thought I'd use some weak humor instead. ;)

wow!..(hot damn!) musical detectors!

Being digital and just designing a chip is cheap plus surface mount technology is used. Making an analog
unit like a 3D is much more expensive. So why are we paying more? Because they look at the other Makers
top end units and price them accordingly. In other words, they can get away with it. I suspect Fisher could
sell the F-75 for the retail of the F-70 and make a profit.

And ML sets the prices on the Explorer series, and designed their dealer system.
If it all falls apart, its on their heads.

over thinking a situation sometimes. ;) That was a good one, Ron. Thanks for the morning chuckle.

with "this" being peoples inherent resistance to change. I've had Harleys for 27 years and they are the epitome of giving people that are suspicious of and or resistant to change what keeps them happy. I used to be the same way and then I "outgrew" it to a degree. I bought a Night Rod (with that Porsche designed motor that you referred to) two years ago and it's an amazing motorcycle but the traditionalists hate them. Ron brought up the guitar manufacturing thing earlier. Anybody think that Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls really are the best? Most players know better but one of those three gets strapped on more often than not because of "tradition". Accepting change takes a long time, if at all, for a lot of people. Not trying to imply that's all bad... just the way it is.

As outlined in my post about detectors that are more wader friendly, there seems a corporate group think that notching above zinc is not needed. Is this stubbornness on FT's part? But the truly maddening issue is that of the CZ20/CZ21 from someone(me), that has two of them, and has used them a great deal.

Apparently from what has been related about repairs and upgrades of the CZ20, a new circuit board and housing were designed for the CZ21. OK great, this was a perfect opportunity since the circuit board was being re-designed, to include a Salt/Non-Salt switch and to remove Nickels(where most gold rings tone in) from the High Coin Tone. Put Nickels in medium tone!!!!! Helllooooo is anybody at FT ever going to listen??? :rage: The old Fisher didn't listen, and FT has resisted change on this also. Why???? Is DJ convinced the earth will open up and swallow him if he ever makes a revision to a circuit?

It is simply frustrating as all hailll knowing that by putting Nickels in medium tone, waders could ignore all of the clad, pennies, and any iron wrapping items like steel washers. Yes one would have to listen to the high tones, but at least you wouldn't have to dig them for fear of missing gold. And I know I'm not the only CZ20 owner that feels this way or has requested the change.

So count me in as one who is ready to embrace change if it is a positive change that takes some very good detectors and makes them better. And on my X-mas wish list "for change":

1. The new White's TDI.
2. Dave Emery's lifelong project the Pulse Devil/Nemesis. I hope he lives long enough to finish it, and I live long enough to use it if he does!

After seeing you had to hold your rod a foot off of the ground on a recent paid hunt, you too will embrace the change of the Dark Side to non-metered detectors.:poke:

Now all I have to do is convince Jackpine Savage to sell all that gold he finds to buy a TDI, and tell me if it's any good. Hey I'm starting to sound like a regular forum member, "please go buy all these new detectors and review them so I don't have to spend any of my money or time". HHmmmmm.......

Anybody want a review of a Red Heat Tornado? I'll set up a PayPal account and you can send me $10 bucks a pop to fund my TDI purchase.
