Target ID numbers

Was messing around with the T2+ yesterday, just doing some air test comparisons between it and the Equinox. I really never use the All Metal Mode so I decided to experiment a little with the all metal mode. I have to say that in an air test you can pick up a target such as a coin (king George) at 15+" which is very impressive the only downfall to this is you don't get any target ID Numbers past about 11inches. I'm just wondering why Teknetics hasn't addressed this issue. I don't have a problem with the single tone but I don't like the fact that there is no ID number showing up.

I have only ever used one detector that would give a good target ID number at depth and that was a Golden Mask 7 metal detector and that I was running a 13x11 coil at the time, with the 9.5 inch coil mounted on the GM7 the target IDs were non existent at depth, but with the 13x11 it is very impressive that it gave me stable target IDs

This video shows the subtle, but useful difference between iron and nonferrous signals at depth in the T2's all metal mode.

I've used the T2's all metal mode to find things that it missed in disc mode using this technique. The numbers are either erratic or nonexistent, so you have to listen carefully to the tone for hints.

Numbers are great, but audio signals are ultimately more informative and reliable on every detector that I've used.

Listen to your T2 , vdi is only an aid not a given I only use the vdi when I get a iffy tone to help decide to dig or not,put electrical tape over the screen so the vdi numbers are not seen and run it several hours and you will be amazed at how well you remember the tones for common dug items, and you will find the goods you might have not dug watching the vdi

Good advise ^. Distinguishing the different tones is probably easy for most people but not me. I must be tone deaf or something. I can only distinguish the difference of 3 maybe 4 tones. The minelab tones work the best for me.
