I was "playing" in my back yard this afternoon with the CTX. I have POUNDED the yard with my AT Pro over the past year or so. Our house was built in 1926 and so far I had only found old Wheaties (and a ton of clad), 1 silver ring with some type of stone and a junk kids ring. I got a SUPER faint 12-46 and could not get it again. I went over the area/spot for about 10 minutes, finally I tilted my coil about an inch or less to one side and to my surprise I got the 12-46 again and was able to pin point it at 9 inches. Got a shovel, dug a large plug around the spot and lifted it out to one side. There standing on edge I saw what I knew was silver. In my "Oh My God" state of mind I reached in and retrieved it. Should of taken a photo right then but I was too excited! Pulled a 1900 Barber quarter, wing covering most of the E in United States. She's in pretty good shape, all the stars are clearly visible and some are still raised! To date she is my oldest coil, the closest is a 1907 Indian. I have seen some faint 12-03s - 12-46s in the past and just did not spent enough time trying to get them again. Well, it started raining hard (Seattle ~ go figure) so I figured another time since it's my back yard.
Soon as I figure out how to re-size these photos, I'll post them! (suggestions on this would be appreciated!)
