Stories by Cupajo..............

As per usual I checked the "on line" weather report this AM before my morning walk on the beach.

Current 17 Knot winds out of the W/SW, 52F temp and rain were enough to put a damper on my morning, but I know that sometimes the reports are wrong and/or things can change fairly quickly along the shore.

After my morning coffee and C. roll I donned foul weather gear and started my walk into an E/SE wind (?) at about 20Knots and a light drizzle!

Since I hadn't been able to walk the Western end of "my beach" yesterday I started out in that direction this AM.

The snow is nearly all gone after the overnight rain and warmer temps. exposing lots of trash for removal.

At the extreme west end of the beach I discovered that someone had removed the lobster pot I wrote about in a past post.

There was no sign that it had ever been there and at first I thought it was buried, but there hadn't been enough sand movement to cover it.

One of life's mysteries!

I decided to make a complete job of it and covered the entire beach picking up several pieces of aluminum cans and bottles along with the usual mono-line and plastic trash.

Near the eastern end of my beach combing the wind stopped for a short time and started blowing from the W/SW!!

Only a few hours off, otherwise not a bad forecast!

I found a syringe with a needle (covered) sitting high up on the wet sand where the waves had tossed it.

It's disturbing to say the least to find these things out there, but at least I can properly dispose of them.

By the time I got back to my van almost three hours had passed and I was starting to get damp from the rain and fog that was getting heavier.

The swells were still a little too rough for water hunting, but I will keep monitoring conditions while these temps are not severe just in case opportunity presents itself.

Thanks for reading!

Best to You All,

CJ

The sand moves in and out covering and uncovering the cobbles where the good stuff hides.

There are a few spots where the hunting is not too bad now, but when the sand gets tossed back on the beach there will be much more exposed treasure.

It will happen sooner or later and all I have to do is be watchful and get out there when the time is right!!

Thanks for your reply Wayne and Happy New Year to you and your Lady!!

-A 6 years ago I was hunting a school yard and run into 2 older man. As w talked one asked what had found. I showed them a hand full of clad an few pull tabs. They both smiled an asked me why I had a XLT and still dug zinks and pull rings. Then we talked about how we didn't find as much gold as we once did. They told me that they had been hunting for years and all the gold was found years before. I asked them what they looked for. They told me all they dug was 82 and higher on their XLTs.

As a plumbing repairman I have had a wide variety of experiences over the past 38 years some I can share and some I dare not as the people are still around and I wouldn

Thanks Wayne for your reply.

She is a rare child today as most children seem too spoiled to even learn how to think for themselves and of others.

My close friends (the ones that have the Truffle farm) have a 17 year old grand daughter who is just like that. (And like her mother and grand mother) A couple months ago she was visiting from Alberta for a couple days and had them call several of us old friends so she could put on a huge Easter meal for us! That included about 3 courses including roast Turkey, rack of Lamb, barbecued Oysters, and salads that were a meal by themselves, also to die for deserts! Shooed her Grandma out of the kitchen mostly and also managed to help Grand dad with outside chores to boot.

They just left today for Alberta to go to her high school graduation.

Now I suspect a little boys response would be a mite different :D She sounds like a real special little girl:thumbup:

Children like Gracie are precious, makes life so interesting and fullfilling. This is a great story, one that I enjoyed reading and will not easily forget. Kelley (Texas)

One of the cast brass fittings I used to put in the shower faucet at Gracie's house was flawed and slowly leaking.

This AM I stopped over and replaced the fitting and enjoyed chatting with Gracie and her Mom for a short while.

A bright little ray of sunshine on a cloudy day if there ever was one!

Thanks for your replies Friends,
