Found a nice little Gold ring. It came in at 12-42 and was 4 inches deep in an old park. It has no markings at all but appears to have been sized down a few sizes at least. Maybe Thats where the hallmark stamp went. I am going to the mall in the morning to get it checked out. Looks good to me, No signs of plating but still I have my suspicions. Idigid
From what I can see in the pictures, it looks genuine to me. I can't speak for the stones obviously, but plated gold just has "that look" and your ring doesn't. There also seems to be quite a lot of craftsmanship there for a fake. It is strange to have all those stones, with gold, and not have any markings, however, I recovered a $160,000 ring for an insurance company this year that had no markings whatsoever so it does happen. I hope for you that it turns out real, my guess from your pictures is that it is real. Please let us know and nice find either way. HH -Marc
I agree with Marc ...mostly. The 12-42 is a good indication and it faces up really nice along with the detail which is a good thing! Would I bet money on it?....I have seen lots of samples and costume type jewelry that looks really really good but lacks being actually solid gold! Lets hope for the best!
I do know that gold can read high, I found a gold ring (24K @ 11.2 grams) that had a high number with my X-Terra 705 last year, but it did not have any gems in it.
no stamp? plated! check it anyway! glass stones!
you can "knick" it with a knife! if shiny underneath?
the real deal!.another clue is weight!.if it just "feels" heavy in your open palm
then get it weighed too!..just sayin'
It weighs 4.1 grams and has some visible wear on the top over the stones and on the bottom of the band. There is no change of color where the wear is but something is just not right. It might be that the band is flat on the sides and not rounded. Idigid
