So who is done for the year...and who is praying to...

My new 10x12 SEF came last week during a slight break in the weather. Took it to an hammered old park with the E-trac that I have been practicing at this year. It was cold but workable. First target was a '44 wheatie at 6". Came in loud and clear. Not sure how I missed that on previous hunts. Dug most everything that signalled just to see if there are any reading differences between it and the standard pro coil. Not as heavy as I anticipated. It has been too cold for me to hunt locally.

And that means road trip. I may not hunt as much but I do hunt. Have to drive a ways to do it though.

Should be scheduling something here soon.

Texas. My season just started fellas. While you guys were in your prime it was 100 plus degrees here with ground harder than concrete. But, I am sympathetic to your plight and already have several great videos on the cutting table to hold you through the winter. The texas revolution is my theme this year. Think Davie Crocket and Sam Houston. Coming soon.

I'm done until the snow melts, we have about a foot. I have a couple woods sites that usually don't freeze up so bad. No use hunting in all the snow though.

I hear the ice on the channels around here is getting thick enough to ice fish. I will have to get my outdoor fix that way for a while.

As long as it is sunny out i am ok.
last year me and Ray were out one time and it was sleeting on us.
Only the deep snow can stop me,or ice! LOL

So far the winter here (Maryland) has been colder than normal, and the ground is frozen 2-3 inches down. If it turns out to be a more typical winter, there should be plenty of days in Jan. and Feb. when the ground is thawed. Last year it was not that cold, but the whole month of Feb. was snowed out (40+ inches).

[size=large]got another day of pratice. and still 11 days to go. rain's on the way just let them clouds part for more than two hrs and i'm out the door.
only found clad and had to work to locate it. this one quirky machine. i could have found todays stuff with my xlt. this ground i'm hunting is over 50 years of use as baseball fields. should have some deeper coins. days start getting longer in two days. spring is on the way. :hot::jump::buds:

We're not done yet buddy. I see no fat lady and I hear no song. 30 degrees all week ...we can surely get one more short in.

Well..congrats anyway. I'll just be content to find my share of clad and hopefully some gold or silver jewelry.

My last hunt was on November 29th. Found a 1927 Mercury Dime and a Huntley Manufacturing Co. watch fob. I've one or two of those posted here, but this is the first one for me. The company was located in Silver Creek NY (12 miles northeast of here) until the early 1930's and then moved to Brocton, NY. We got a few inches of snow on the night of the 29th and there's about 6 inches on the ground now so I'm done until spring.

Never say never - but you still have to be realistic. I was out yesterday and did ok ( I'm going to post my finds today). Even in Jan or Feb I'll still
get out once in a while and do a little woods hunting - ground is still diggable sometimes when everything else is frozen. My town is on the shore in Ct
so if I get desperate I might even hit the shore after a storm.

It's one of the reasons I love my excal: it rains in Oregon almost all winter. If it's not raining I take the Sovereign, if it is, the excal. However, we don't encounter as much silver here as you guys on the east coast.

Kinda having a tough time getting into it and struggling with things since 4:30 PM on September 10, 2010. We're only praying that the Lord will bring our granddaughter back to us and make our family whole again.

South Louisiana gets cold then warm in spells, so hunting is off and on until spring. Lager concern is hunting seasons and areas- wear the orange and stay alive!
