so whats the story on the golden umax these days?

I think your on the money. I never tried the f2 fisher. I have a xterra 705 that does decent on finding rings. I look for tosoro to sink that boat with Rusty and Nathan on board with it.You know a captain will go down with his fleet. LOLS

This is a Tesoro forum also like any other brands. Do you know what your even talking about? Take a good look around. Surprise! Tesoro topics everywhere. Do the math 2+2= help me out.

My opinions on this subject are informed opinions as I've been chasing this horse longer than you and finally decided dead is dead.

Ebay flood? This is no flood. One guy gets someone to pay his price and the next thing that happens is folks like you who capitalize on it. And there haven't been that many of you to be calling it a flood. Not calling foul as I'd do the same thing.

Tesoro users post here because they always have, but its no longer a Tesoro sponsered forum, which leads me to believe they will not poke their noses in here ever again. They'd be afraid they'd get a bill from the guvner.

I'm a Golden fan myself. But the reality is its gone. Time to move over and recreate it in other units as best you can. For example....

.....the Fisher F19/Tek G2+ have a adjustable notch accept/notch reject window you can size and move around to just where you want it.
.....the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro has an adjustable notch accept/notch reject window you can move around that includes tone id.
.....the Fisher F22/F44 has assignable tone id, although you cannot move the notch accept/notch reject windows around.
.....of course the Whites V3 is fully programable to do what ever you like.

The V3 is the most capable and can recreate the blended tonal edges the Golden had. You could take that 800 dollars you got on your sale and buy a V3 and create a Golden uMax program.

1 Let me tell you something! I sold the tesoro on ebay to someone I never meet before and 2 you don't know who chased the horse longer only because you know nothing about me. 3 I will be on this forum as long as I wish only because I am not the least intimidated by you or anyone for that matter. 4 Your opinion don't mean squat like I put in my last post. 5 The v3 will not do what the golden can. 6 If you have one put up a video and let me see what your big talk is about I would be interested in seeing what the shinny v3 can do. 7 I myself am thinking the v3 will be no different than any other shinny detector on gold vs bottle cap,can slaw, pull tab. 8 53silver has a video of the golden umax passing lets see what the big bad v3 can do on the same test. I got plenty of money. If you can show proof the v3 can pass I will buy one tonight. It's more valuable to show proof than to just spout off about a product. I watched a few v3 videos and I can say not convinced. Im waiting for the video. You were talking about notch being on metal detectors were have you been it's been on metal detectors for decades.

I don't know about you Mike but, I would be very interested in how he Cherry picks the Gold Rings out of the Tinfoil, pull tabs, and can slaw and lawn mower shredded up aluminum cans and gets the Gold rings. As far as Tesoro ever making the Golden or anything like it ain't gonna happen. Not now, tomorrow, or ever.
Now the good thing is they can still repair them but, if something happens to the Printed Circuit board, sorry you just bit the bullet. However they will offer you another unit, just not a Golden, at a reduced price if you are the original owner of the Golden.Try to get that from anyone else.
Lets get back to the Cherry Picking the rings. Like where do you run the width knob with notch centered. What does your audio sound like when you have the notches selected. Where do you run the Dis. Where do you run the Width knob with the notch switch in narrow. Where do you run the width knob with it in wide notch. How long did you own a Golden???
BTW the reason they quit making the new tone Golden's is because they were having problems with the tones being consistant. Some had 3 tones some had 4. There were only about 25 or 30 of them made then they stopped. Also they could not get the number of P/C's they needed.
Sorry I am really interested in how you Cherry Pick the Gold rings. Myself, Mike, and Tabman if he is still around know more about the Goldens then anyone and Mike and Tabman know more then I do. I am sure there might be a few more that know as much as we do about running them and If we could Cherry Pick Gold rings like you say you can, then maybe they would be $2000 $3000 a piece. As far as I concerned only a Sucker would pay $800 for a Golden Micro Max.
Yes I have a old Golden, matter of fact it is one of the first ones to ever be made. I love my old Golden but it sure as hell will not Cherry Pick Gold Rings. Nothing will do that.
I am a jewelry hunter and I have still got 18 detectors that will find rings but none are Cherry Pickers and I would rather hunt jewelry then hunt coins. It is true that on some of my detectors I only dig up to nickles, beaver tails, and round pull tabs and nothing above that, UHA, maybe a quarter LOL. Mike is right about the detectors he mentioned and I can add the F75. The 705 is good too. The V3i is excellent also. The shadow X5, I know I forgot a few. The Golden is nothing but a notch machine but it is very convenient to use and it can be used fast and does a lot of different things quickly with just the movement of a knob or a switch but it is still a notch machine Period. There are plenty of notch machines around better tones and more tones to go with the ID numbers and are deeper then the Golden. Anyway that is all I got to say about this very old Thread and who are you really. You are not a new poster on findmall. HH May All Your Days Be Filled With Gold. Jerry aka Tinfoil

Hello, When one of you computer geeks want to show me your machine can do what 53silver on youtube can do with his golden umax then you will have something to bark about. Until then I will not answer no more of your posts.Your opinions has no barrier on me. I hear nothing but BS so far but some how you have proven nothing. How come is that? No videos to back your claims go figure. Your answer to your own question will be answered when you watch 53silver. Tin foil, tabs, nail, rings go to youtube and type in 53silver.

I also noticed you have the old golden not the new tone so that is why you have trouble. Mine will sound like a duck on gold only it has been fooled very seldom. The tones on your golden umax is too close together. Tab man has the dud model not the good one with new tones. I seen tab mans video. The new tone units I heard are deeper also. If you want the real deal golden get the ones that start out at 19000 as the serial number. Then you got something. Yes I like it so good I offered the guy who bought mine 900.00 for it back and I am thankful that he might consider and no I will not tell anyone who he is.

I have watched 53 silver videos a bunch of times. All he is doing is notching things out. Same as all the Goldens will do. Same as a lot of machines will do. Still waiting on how you run the Golden to just Cherry Pick gold rings and how you set up your Golden to do It. I bet there is more then me that want to know.

All I want to know is how you do it cause, I am going to set my Golden up like yours and see if mine will Cherry Pick the Gold rings like yours. Come on, help a old guy out that has only been :detecting: around 40 years and don't have the Cherry Picking Gold rings figured out yet. I mean since you can do it and if you tell all of us with Goldens, how we can do it. I will always give you Credit for it.

We will even change you name To Cherry Picker, how about that. Also so I can get ride of 17 of my detectors and just keep my OLD GOLDEN. Oh btw 53Sliver had one of the 25 that were made and only a few really worked with the new tones. The new tones were just that, New Tones, but the new tone machines, still worked like all the old Golden machines. Problem is they could not get the new Tone machines right and that is why they stopped making them. I am waiting. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

I set mine just like 53silver set his up mine dose what his did in the video and it works. If you set yours up like his then you will have my setup but you have the old golden that will not work the same. I would be interested in a different machine but have not seen any out there that offer what the new tone golden umax dose. I have a minelab 705 that finds rings but it want compare to my golden in the park. In the fields the minelab will destroy the golden. If I get my new tone golden back from the guy I sold it to on ebay you will never see it for sale ever again. I would like to give the v3 a chance but it has to impress me first. I am a very hard person to impress unless the proof is solid. You can do the same test with any unit on the market and I am sure 99.9% that they will fail the test. I seen three other metal detectors that can pass that test that is no longer around is the king cobra, thunderstick cobra,cobra1650 that people have forgotten about. The cobra metal detectors are even harder to get. Look them up. I had the king cobra years ago but sold it. That was a good gold finder too. I could take a pop can and a gold ring set the cobra up and it would not make a sound on the can but the ring sounded off with a nice tone. The new generation of people that metal detect do not know about those units for most of them were still in diapers. I had a 1266x fisher and could set it up to sizzle on a pull tab and sound clear on nickles. People now days want a hand held computer on a stick and think it's going to do something special when it dose no more than the older units you just get more look pretty controls.

Tinfoil,
The Golden Sabre II had a neat feature that helped cherry pick gold rings. You could set the notch dial to break the tones on a old square tab. That would cause it give this spine tingling squack on items with gold like mass. Gene, you remember Gene out of Florida?, he told me about it. Worked pretty good. That sound stopped you in your tracks and made you pee yourself. You'd swing for hours wanting to hear it again. Did good on identifying foil by tone too. Only issue was it wasn't very deep. After I accepted the fact I couldn't get another new tone Golden uMax, I got another Golden Sabre II and modified it, adding a manual ground balance and a manual notch width and turned it into a Pantera. Ran the Cleansweep coil on it for shallow drops but EMI starting making it too shallow so I let it go too. I use my ETPro prototype with a F75 RIF 10x14 DD coil for that now. Hits good and hard down to about 7". I got the LandRanger Pro so I could have my ETPro audio features with an adjustable notch accept/notch reject feature. Still trying to find the right coil to work with it.

The new toned Golden uMax had seven tones....the low tone, the transistional low/medium high tone, the medium high tone that I called the "gold" tone, the medium high/medium low transistional tone, the medium low tone, the medium low/high transistional tone, and the high tone. The gold tone (medium high tone) could be shifted around inside the aluminum range. It let you run with zero discrimination and id by tone. Wasn't any better cherry picking than any other notch unit with good notch adjustability, though.

What both Golden uMaxes did really good though was cherry picking high conductors out of the steel crown bottle caps. They did that better than anything!

Hello, You were saying the new tone golden umax had problems. Mine worked perfect. I had the old golden that was indeed no were close to the new tone golden but not trying to hurt your feelings the old golden just didn't stack up to my expectations and that is high. Thats why the old tone golden is no longer in my thoughts. I would rather grab the old golden sabre 2 than
that sorry unit. It was in my opinion the least of all the goldens made. If you still have it I will trade you a bounty hunter fast tracker or some Colorado gold sticks from ebay. Either one will equal out in finds. Im waiting for your reply. HH Clint Eastwood the cherry picker

Hello, I have given up on looking for another new tone golden umax. Dose anyone have a golden sabre 2 they want to list on ebay? The guy I sold the golden to on ebay declined to sell it back. So I guess I should just settle for the golden 2 until Tesoro gets a new model of the golden out. I will also settle for a king cobra or cobra1650 metal detector also. I will check the posts everyday. My ebay feedback is 100%. Thanks Cherry Picker

I've got a GSII that I'll sell you. Bought it new ($429 in '91-'92 ...?) and dug a bazillion coins with it and I used it for 22 years. Bought a Tejon and got rid of it soon there after and went with Minelab. I have no use for it now and it's been parked ever since. Sent it in to Tesoro for a checkup 3 years ago and they replaced battery holders and rebuilt the coil and everything else checked out ok. I've had a few interested but nobody wants to pay my price and I'd rather keep it than give it away. I'm asking $175 TYD ....FIRM!!!!! (that gives me a buck and a half outta it).

There is a classifieds section where that post can go.......Just saying.

Hello, I will give you 250.00 November the 15th if it's in good shape. That way you want lose on ebay fees and shipping. Thanks and please let me know if that's fine with you. HH Cherry Picker
