so whats the story on the golden umax these days?

I just bought a new one....old stock from somewhere in OR. Sent in my warranty card Monday. I called tesoro prior to purchasing and they assured me it would still be covered....that is why I bought it. The place I got mine from had a used demo one too, but without the warranty card.
 
My question is why is it that some people think the golden umax is obsolete? It actually stands out from the others churned out like the tesoro silver umax, compadre, and other tesoro detectors. At least the golden umax can tell the difference between a gold ring and a pull tab. Name one tesoro that can take that claim and I will be sold on that other so called better with the times machine. I can say there is no answer that tesoro can give on that question. Take the golden and add ground balance if you want depht. I think they lost the program on the golden umax and want to make excuses. In my opinion the golden is far more advanced than the boring models they have now. Anymore it's do a color change with a new decal and call it a new model. I hope they don't go the troy route by making wrong decisions. It should be what the vast majority of customers want not what tesoro wants to go cheap on.

I truly hope the Cazador offers a silver high tone like the Golden did, plus another high tone for nickels. That would make it my dream clad hunter!

Hello, You could get one for under 700 but it want be the new tone version. I sold a new tone golden on ebay in the past couple of weeks for 800.00 as is parts only. I wish now that I would have keep it. I have emailed the buyer to let him know that I will give him 900.00 for it back January if he decides to sell it. It was a very sharp unit and worked like it just came out of the box. I always sell my units on ebay (Due to electronics I am selling as-is parts only ) Hope you can find one or better yet if everyone would get on board and bug the tesoro company until they give in to bring the golden back. They can't give me no answer when I asked why they think the golden umax is obsolete. HH
 
I bought one used it once new outta the box put it back in and near had to give it away to sell it and this was a fin speaker modal , if only I knew I could get 1K for it now :buds: still they are only worth a few hundred in my mind plenty of better detectors out there for less than issue price of the golden. :biggrin:

Sure there is better unit's out there only in their own way of different types of hunting. I own a minelab 705 that will find rings and sold my etrac that was too slow for me that are very good machines. On the other hand is a lost gold wedding band in a trashy park. Without a doubt I will grab the golden everytime due to its ability to cherry pick gold like no tommorrow. I goofed up by selling the golden but there is a slim chance the guy that I sold mine to will sell it back. The minelab 705 dose good in the fields were trash is limited but the tesoro golden will hammer both the etrac and the 705 in trashy parks were gold is in the mist of it all. I will ask the main question that no one around can't answer. Were is a unit at any price that can do what the golden can.
 
I can answer that question. Not everyone agrees. You might want to check all the comments first before getting back with me. I will give you one example to save you some time (Nathans comment) that he still has no answer to my question. I do believe that not everyone but for the most part ABOUT everyone agrees. Do you work for tesoro? Thanks for your reply though it's not an answer to my question.
 
I read them all and still not sure WTF you are demanding to know from this message board. We are not the Tesoro front office. Why don't you go sit down there and wait for an answer from them.

We all agree that it was a great machine and seemed like a strange decision to kill it off.

Why did you sell the one you had?
 
You can take your opinion and your own advice and( WTF )you didn't read all the comments Because if you did you would know something but instead you know something about nothing. I sold it thinking the new etrac that I bought would work out for me and that was indeed a bad decision on my part to sell the golden umax. So I sold the etrac to my neighbor and by the way Who are you the reply findmall police? One other thing the chief of tesoro Nathan comment is on here so something else you must know nothing about. So get lost if you do not have nothing tangible to talk about.
 
You just came on and posted the same question over and over, and you got mad when no one had an answer for you. It is pretty strange, cause everyone already agrees with you, this topic has been discussed 1000 times.

No I didn't get mad you did. You came at me with the (WTF ) comment. Do you think that wasn't being rude? You can comment with respect and not disrespect. I will dish out what's throwed at me like a boomerang. I am new to the board and had no idea the question was ask 1000 times. My question is directed to Nathan chief of tesoro or maybe someone else who can answer. If you agree with me then don't come at me with a rude demeanor. So lets be a little friendlier from here on out.
 
OK, I'm really on your side. Guess I was a little grumpy, sorry.

A lot of us on this board are pretty dismayed at Tesoro for dropping the Golden, including me. Maybe you can convince them to bring it back.
 
This isn't a Tesoro forum anymore so I doubt anyone from Tesoro comes around.

If a Tesoro rep were to somehow show up here they'd quickly get 'cazadored' and run off.

The Golden is dead and gone. It was a slow seller to start with. The old beep and dig guys didn't like it. Rusty didn't like it. Used ones used to float around on the classifieds on a regular basis until they eventually floated overseas until even those were gone. Only a few of us knew what it was good at and now we aint got it either.

Dust in the wind. Bringing up these dried up long old threads doesn't do anything but hide the new stuff.

Thanks, I will try my best and hope that if enough people would stay on their backs they might bring the golden umax back. I am also going to write to the tesoro corporate office on that obsolete comment that Nathan made. I asked through email but they want answer so I will also call them and ask to speak to Nathan chief of tesoro. I say when they do bring it back out it will come with gound balance with a good price tag to go with it. If it will be like my new tone that I sold on ebay then I will buy two of them incase they pull the plug again. I apologize also and hope you a good Thanksgiving.
 
I've bot other discontinued items on Ebay cause the good ones shoot up in price just like the Golden did. I REALLY wish I'd got one when I was seeing them for around 450 in good shape. They are close to $1k now so that boat has sailed.

I have read that Tesoro lost the program for the rom and couldn't make any more if they wanted, if that's true then we might as well move on.

Funny thing, I do pretty good a avoiding pull tabs with a little $160 Fisher F2 and have found lots of jewelry in a short time. Those are not toys. I like that little unit as much as my Tesoros
 
Hello news flash the tesoro golden umax has been selling on ebay up to 800.00. As far as Rusty goes his opinions don't mean squat like yours. Every man is his own like metal detectors. Take the cortes it can't tell the difference between a quarter or a aluminum scrap that hits 95 on about everything there's your new technolog . Rusty will be the one that help sinks tesoro. You also can't prove anything on how many goldens they sold. I will add also bells and whistles don't work on today's machines no better than the old. It's a nice pretty screen and nothing to offer or maybe a new sticker to call it an updated model. The big price tag etrac that I sold could not tell the difference between a tab,or a ring if that tells you anything about new technology. Because you pay more dosnt mean you get more performance. People get brain washed with look pretty things and seem to miss the big picture. One other thing if the golden umax is not so good then why are people not flooding ebay with them. I think you know the real answer to that.
