Semi Detector related but I just need to vent!:veryangry:

Okay, so to help pay for my new Ace 250 I've decided to sell off some of my old coins that I had found as metal detecting as a child. I figured I would put them up on e-bay and was selling my mercury dimes very well. Today was the first feedback I ever got for a sale because it's now been long enough since close of the auction that I could mail something off. This guy bid on 6 of my dimes that all were originally in the coin holders. Because I was afraid they would cause the envelope to catch in the machines at the post office I removed them and carefully wrapped them in paper and a bubble bag so they wouldn't get damaged and they wouldn't be as ridged with staples and thinner. So he doesn't even contact me and gives me negative feedback because he said he bid on 6 individual coins but got 6 loose ones...........

So he got the coins in the condition they were said to be...correct years and dates....just not in the holders that were in the picture. But he DID get the correct coins, great condition. They were never professionally graded either....

So basically he bid on them because they were wrapped in cardboard not for their quality?

But because of his comments it looks like I didn't sell him what he bid on...he got it in a different package and I guess that wasn't what he wanted. However the value of the coins was no different, in my opinion. What makes me mad is that he could have contacted me first so I could have corrected the problem. So I kindly said, if you would like cardboard holders I can send you some...

He should be happy....I didn't even charge him shipping and I know he got a great deal on them because their real values in silver were worth more than he bid.

I guess you just can't please them all:tongue:

Needless to say, in the future I won't be selling anything else on e-bay. I'm done with what I wanted to get rid of. And by July I'll have a new ACE 250 to keep my mind off of people who just wanna squeeze you for everything they can!

Can't satisfy everyone on fleece bay ! Chalk it up to experience.

:usaflag:You can leave a follow-up comment right underneath the negative feedback he gave you. You have a right to explain your side of things. I have bought and sold over 50 items on EBay and have not had any problems as of yet..(knock on wood). You were just unlucky enough to have dealt with a dickhead.

I had a BAD experience on eBay with a buyer and then with eBay while trying to resolve the issue. They sided with the buyer with no regard to me as a seller. The buyer was an ID-10-T and cold not read or understand English. I had a 300+ feedback, I left eBay.

The funny thing is if they side with the buyer all the time they are impartial and will lose people who actually sell good stuff...and soon it will be crappy buyers and crappy sellers! Oh well. I figure the rest of my finds I can craigslist them if I really want to get rid of them. That way I don't pay any fees and I can ask for money orders!

Make sure you check those money orders with a UV light to make sure they are legit. That's one reason I don't try to buy or sell on Ebay, there's lots of people who want something for nothing. Just a little communication would have taken care of his complaint, instead of bad mouthing you like that.

I think it's already happened.

I have auctioned over 15000 items over the past 10 years while selling antiques and collectibles.
I don't do much anymore because ebay has changed it's not seller friendly as it once was.
Most collectors won't even sell or buy on ebay anymore, the money is not as it once was.
I remember times when you could get $100.00 for one particular item, your lucky if you can now get
$20.00. So you sell "off ebay" to get the higher dollars as you did before ebay existed. Some categories
still bring in the bucks and in others you get garage sale bargoons. But, you have to hunt and look for those
Buy It Now auctions and be the first to spot the listing.

Your always going to get negatives, you can't satisfy everyone. Lot's of people just feel the need to give a negative
because they have a desire to be a bully and prove they have strength. They can do this on-line because they are behind
closed doors and you can't respond back to them in person. As a newbie on ebay with low feedback, it makes neg. feedback leaver
feel more powerful as, everyone will now see his feedback. People like to bring others down that are trying to succeed or
succeeding at something, human nature.
If you look at many power sellers feedback you'll see lots of negs, sometimes in the hundreds out of 20-30-40,000 auctions. And they
still have buyers and bidders as most buyers are happy.

Now in your case, never start a tit for tat feedback exchange, it makes the seller look bad. The object of your response has to be
business like, to the point. Like---- Coins removed from coinflips to prevent staple damage during shipping
Most people look at that and think your being extra careful shipping the coins. No other explantion needed. It will also make the
neg. giver look like he gave a neg. look ridiculous. especially when all your other buyers are happy. If you want to make yourself feel better,
check out the feedback he gave others, he may have given out many more negs., afterwhile people will look at your feedback and trace back his neg
and see all the negs he has given. This will show everyone he is a difficult customer........
Don't let that neg. bother you. You get used to it if you ever worked retail. Just keep on selling on ebay, if they are buying. Don't let one person
get you down.

Good luck

Good news! Ever since that jerk all I've gotten are Positives! The bad thing is, it makes me look bad by giving me a 85% rating. I did check his other feedback...seems he's well known for posting negatives....likes keeping good stuff cheap I suppose. However I now check what people give sellers and wait to post mine until they send me an e-mail saying everything was okay.
