Question about the sensitivity readout...

That is legitimate "dirt"
I have buried a merc in it and it disappears after 2" with the 6" coil.
When I feel like torturing myself , I'll take the F75 se2 there:thumbup:

That’s an eye opener as to how bad conditions can be. I’ve never seen the suggested reading go below 10,and I thought that was horrible. Usually mine will run 15+ suggested but that’s in park-type turf. The highest I’ve seen suggested is 28..

Thanks for posting that one, Sp!

Please can you give us your description of the soil involved, and it location?
Is it in an industrialised environment, park or farmland etc.or do you think it's due to the natural, local geology?

p.s. Can you post me a bucket-full for my test garden, as a Christmas present?.......regards, matt.

The location is unimportant(one of those TMI things) but the soil is indeed an old industrialized burned/landfill site that was abandoned many decades ago in which the natural decomposition process and local environmental conditions have been reclaiming the contaminated soil. It would probably qualify for super fund status if the green zealots had their way but is currently only having access restricted to non motorized means , however removal of "natural resources" is prohibited so you shouldn't hold your breathe waiting for a bucket of dirt in the mail. I'm sure there are similar sites nation wide but most people don't have the mindset to do the dirty work of detecting them.

It is indeed the most difficult of places to hunt where coins could be found but the logistics are overwhelming, whether it be machine operation or even getting to the site. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. A friend and I know of a part of a park that has had coke mixed in/spread around and it sucks. Once I figure it out,I’m quite sure I’ll find something. Not many guys are going to want to,or even know how to,deal with it. I have much learning to do...
