She's getting stuck in all metal when the retune button is pushed. Bummer... I don't want to send her back again. How can I have the only one that has this problem? Twice? Push the pinpoint button and it comes right back out but the machine stays in no motion all metal. I have to turn it off and start all over again. Frustrating..

Idx is the batterygetting low , Mine does that to ,

Hey Xpro, mine started doing that just the other day. I also had to turn it off to calm it, but it would do it again after a while.

I have a fresh battery in it this morning and will be giving it some work today, so I'll check back in and let you know if that fixed it.

If someone knows how to Mod the Outlaw so the button would just be a no-motion AM switch for pinpointing and not a motion/threshold AM (which could still be accessed by the toggle), I would be interested in doing that. This button is just not a well-designed feature (although well-intentioned) IMO.

Hey guys, so I'm not alone anymore? Gun, fresh batteries just now and still does it . I think Tesoro has another golden on their hands and not wanting to admitt it. Alot of issues on another forum with the Outlaw too. It's just so $

Tesoro stands behind their machines.
I can't say I have seen any more quirks or bugs being discussed about the outlaw than detectors of other makes and models.
As frustrating the problems you are experiencing are,Tesoro ill make it right. Your situation is the reason original owners are covered by the lifetime warranty. Hopefully what you are experiencing is somewhat isolated and you simply have a bad machine.
Good luck.

Maybe a light application of electronics cleaner?

You know what , I never use the button , but compared to the standard umax, & compadre it exels because it has the ground balance, I tell ya what tesoro I have my Iye on is the LOBO the more i look at it the more intrested I am but I like the outlaw, its akeeper

BarberBill, i see you have 3 whites in your signature. Whatchu got? I got a nice Outlaw to trade ya....hehe

Get an X-Terra! Just imagine having a threshold hum, full ID numbers and multi tones WHILE YOU ARE IN ALL METAL. Yes it is true! When I had my Vaquero, I would not have imagined this to be possible with any detector.

I like ur thnking atom.....so whos trading me their xterra for my Outlaw??

If I still had one, I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a Outlaw if I didn't already own one. I bought and sold 2 exterras (305/505).

They were not bad detectors. I just didn't warm up to them.

I have found coins in iron with my XT and I knew the iron was there because I could hear BOTH tones/ID#s. This was not possible with my Vaq. Once I got the XT 505 I never looked back, especially after finding nearly 300 coins that I missed with the V. Yes I learned it as well as I could in over a year of use (over 80 hours). If you use an X-Terra and don't use 99 tones and All Metal, you aren't using an X-Terra they way it was designed to function to it's full potential. Many get intimidated by the intense amount of info coming through the headphones, and give up on the multi tones option. If you learn the 99 tones and DO NOT rely on only 4 tones, It is an amazing revelation. I would much rather listen to the lower iron tones than the constant popping and clicking of the Vaquero trying to disc out iron. I can run no disc (all metal) and still hear/see the various ID#s/targets under the coil and decide what to dig based on that. If I know what is trash, then it's much easier to know what is treasure.

99 tones? Wow. I haven't memorized 99 anything in my life! I did memorize some Shakespeare in high school. Would it be fun like that was??:surprised:

Here is what really made me mad this weekend. After hunting from 7am to 10am with the Outlaw I was just frustrated. I said let me run a super high disc at a popular 4th july gathering spot and cherry pick. It hit on dimes and quarters, yes it did. What else came with it? Alot of can slaw, rusty iron, deep pull tabs, and bottle caps! I was at my end. I had 50 minutes left before having to pick my daughter up from a friends house. I decided to break out the idx. In 50 minutes, I was able to pull 29 coins, identify them with ease, and only two junk items, a rusty washer, and a grommet of some sort. That did it for me man. I have not oulledthat many coins in a single outing in 11 months with the outlaw cause I'm too busy digging trash. Yes it is very hot on nickel/gold range, no doubt, but I am not impressed with its ability to disc against non desirable targets.

No memorizing required really. 99 tones only means the max amount, there aren't really 99 tones! Multi tone is a more accurate description. Mine is actually 19 different tones. The 705 is 28 tones. Its pretty easy to get the hang of it, all the tones correspond to the ID#s. Lower tones are lower conductivity metals, higher tones are higher conductivity! Pretty much like any 3-4 tone detector, only much more accurate in identifying the treasure among trash. Higher tones 'jump out' of the lower, iron or trashy tones so the separation is very impressive. If you get a repeatable tone in the desired range, pinpoint it and dig! There is no lag or chirping etc. due to discing out iron as the iron is being heard/seen along with the other targets. Oh, and I can buy a 6" 3 kHz DD coil to find that silver among the iron trash. I just bought the the 18.75 khz 6" DD coil for gold jewelry/nuggets and trashy sites. Dug a copper penny (in good ground) with that coil at about 10" with it Saturday. So for a $150 coil, my detector now operates at 7.5 khz and 18.75 khz. I'm just passing along my experience with my Vaq and My Minelab. Heck, I bought it used on fleabay so I took a chance! But I would buy another if this one were to quit. Lifetime warranty or not.

When you have an experience like that, it's hard to ignore. I had a similar experience with the yellow machine a few years back. I found around 50 coins in a section of an old schoolyard. When I got my first Tesoro (Tejon) I went back to the same area and found another 50 or so that the yellow machine had missed. That sold me on Tesoro, and the yellow machine was up for sale right away.

I wonder if there was just something wrong with your Outlaw. I'm currently using a Vaquero and I'm not digging a lot of trash (unless I choose too). I can hear the difference. I would think the Outlaw should be like that too??

Dan

Idx sounds like the disc pot is out of whack, mine got rid of the pulls you can see the video I guess you can sell it or trade, or send it in but it sounds like you need to find somthing thats a bit better at discing
