Agreed. Folks point out the cost of these foreign machines as a problem but many fall in well short of what a high end White's, Garrett or Minelab costs and can out dance them all day when it comes to depth. I am so looking forward to getting my new VELOX One and giving it a whirl. I had to sell a few things and work it into the budget but it didn't break the bank. We'll see just how well it does on nuggets here in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you guys posted on the results.

I have been taking a hard look at the Velox One also and would love to hear your opinion on it!

I should have mine here any day now and will be using it to start with out west looking for nuggets. Will be out of here this time next week to hit NM, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. I've been hired to take a fellow out there fort other business but part of the deal is that I get to fish for some trout and prospect. Give me a few weeks and I'll let you know my honest opinion on the Velox One. This will be my first time using it. If it turns out to be a better machine than the Golden Sense then we've really got a powerful treasure hunting tool. I ordered the basic unit with stock coil, the larger coil and the pinpointer. I'll be pitting the Velox One against the Golden Sense and pitting my Garrett pinpointer against the NOKTA one. If I have time, I'll post my initial impression of the Velox One when I un-box it and assemble it for the trip. Cheers! Onward and upward!

I too have heard the claims about Nokta detectors. I found a decent silver hoard in the last year so Ive been trying to up my game. To do that, I purchased a Nokta Goldengate 3D. I have not used it a lot yet and have been trying to learn more about it all the time. Is it a decent detector? Yes. Does it do what others don't? Yes, as well. Is it far superior to anything else out there on the market....that is yet to be seen. The detector works very well....as a upper end "standard " detector. Again, only more time will SHOW me IF it is worth all the extra money. They are expensive....but also very well made and put together....better than a lot of detectors. They have unique features that other manufactures have sot out as well. Its relatively easy to use but again like any detector....it takes time to know it well and even more time to hunt and recover better items.

The problem is that its hard to get a TRUE review about most any detector....especially from sales people. Even reviews in magazines....when do you actually see a bad review??? That is whats great about this site/forum...that we can share our knowledge and in site and find out...more or less..... the way it is and not some sales pitch. We should all be able to have friendly agreement/disagreements about various topics and equipment and try to respect others opinions or views.

I will do lots of hunting with my Nokta and report what I come up with. I am looking at another similar detector as well at the moment, so that one will be interesting too!

Good company Nokta is. I tested a Velox One and it was a very capable detector for finding colonial relics in and around iron. I did not test the Golden Sense because you have to wear it on a strap. Big problem when relic hunting in woods and thickets.

The only negative I read from a UK site was that the disc is at the low end and will not disc past foil. Also read they are crazy deep. How the disc is set would not work for me because I am a cherry picker. Interesting unit though....

Amazing machine! However, the only way I am digging 24" is if the machine tells me there is a 1916-D Mercury dime at he bottom of the hole lol.

I think Kellyco has someone available for repairs and service. Good Question. Am going to suggest that they allow someone else here to service the machines. I know there are several places that can repair different detectors and I see no reason why this one couldn't be serviced here. All they would need is authorization and a schematic. I'll have to check into that.

The company is pretty good about communicating with the detectorist in the field and they do welcome constructive suggestions and criticism. I did make the suggestion of an Alkaline battery pack and now they have one...also a 1/4 inch headphone jack vs the little 1/8. They are wanting to put a quality product on the market and are not strangers to technology so I am going to pose the question about service and repair and see what happens.

I saw a video of the nail test board involving the Velox One. It performed very bad compared to what I have used in the past.

Just checked the tracking number and mine is a day away from here...so looking forward to putting it together, hitting a local park and the beach to learn the basics and then this weekend it is off to nugget shoot parts unknown...NM, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Want to return to Nevada and AZ in the spring. Have got a hot spot in Nevada that produces big nuggets. Damn, what am I doing in Florida? Should hit the treasure coast on the other side for a week this winter for some Spanish stuff as well. I can't stand the beach until it gets nice and cold...to old to enjoy bikinis anymore and heat and humidity all but wipe me out.

Interesting...I'll be using it in some real iron polluted conditions shortly and will give a report on my findings. What detector are you comparing it to? I'm notorious for getting new detectors and running them through the most difficult of situations...when this one comes in I'm off to Appalachicola in Florida to work an area that is beside of an old blacksmith shop. Good targets are in there but as you can imagine, iron scrap pervades the area. Large iron is easy to identify but small copper nails and galvanized nails give me fits. Its one big adventure after another eh wot?

I don't coin or dirt hunt much anymore. But when I did I hunted in iron at old houses. I needed fast recovery or a detector that was good at unmasking. Current fast recovery models that I used were the Deus and even the cheaper AT Pro. If you want to see an impressive video of a detector in iron go to youtube and watch Bill Ladd with the AT Gold at an old cellar hole.

I know this thread started off talking about another nokta detector. Forgive me for taking it away from the Golden sense. I have never used either of the Nokta units, but I do like to watch what detectors can do in iron. Iron ability was always more important to me than depth while dirt hunting.

I would like to watch some video of some actual hunting involving the golden sense. I'm not a big fan of buried target videos.

Good luck gold hunting. I have never done it. One part of it sounds fantastic. The great outdoors. Another part of it sounds like hard work.

Its okay to let the thread morph wherever it'll go...I like to learn all I can about my detector and others as well as different techniques for working iron polluted sites. I like to keep my eyes and ears open and occasionally will shut my mouth long enough to learn something. I'm getting up in years myself and am suffering from the after affects of intensive chemo therapy for cancer. The tendonitis, neuropathy and sometimes lymph edema make it difficult for me to go at it full tilt like I used to so I try to maximize my time in the field. I'm going on the check out ole Bill Ladd with his AT Gold and maybe I'll pick up some useful information. Thanks for the info and the input!

:detecting: Just got the Velox One in...assembled easy enough and took it to the park for a test run using only the quick set up guide. This thing is so balanced that swinging it is easier than any detector I have ever used. Even easier on my arm than the Minelab X-terra 705. I went ahead and mounted the battery pack on the machine instead of belt mounting and was able to swing just fine. Nokta Engineering really put a lot of thought into the balance of the machine. Ground balance was easy and when up and running it was quite easy to pick the non ferrous from the iron. The iron off worked well too. I got a clad quarter, two clad dimes, two fishing sinkers, the end off of an old light bulb, a piece of heavy copper wire, a good collection of the old pull tabs and a wheat penny before the sun set far enough that the bugs starting hitting to the point of being unbearable. I make a point of digging all non ferrous targets simply because my gold ring collection seems to increase when I follow that practice. More than once a detector indicating a pull tab and when dug the ground yielded up some of that good ole yellow metal. A pinpointer was included in the package and it works very well with two modes, one with sound and the other with vibration. I use the vibrate mode with headphones and had no trouble quickly pinpointing and retrieving every single target. I am very impressed with the overall quality of the product. I also got a larger coil for it but only tried it out with the stock coil. I am so glad it got here before my trip and I am so looking forward to getting you guys some photos and feedback on the Velox...Now, I'm going to read the book and watch the instructional DVD while drinking a cup of coffee...I am like a kid with a new pair of shoes, should have watched the DVD and read the book before going out but I don't like burning daylight inside the house....:)

Took it, the Velox One out west. Too cold for this Florida guy yet managed to pull three small nuggets, 3.4 gram, 2.7 gram and 2.5 gram in an area loosely associated with the Rye Patch. Waiting for the weather to break a bit and am headed out to a very remote area of Nevada. Will hike in with water, food, shelter and detectors mounted on a Travois for hopefully a 7-10 sojourn into the back country for detecting and some dry panning. The thing ground balances and operates quite smoothly, the only thing I really miss is a good threshold hum. I have the standard stock coil and the large coil for it.

ganixle,
Thanks for the reply. Post some more Velox info if you get a chance. If I get one I'll start another thread
