I wasn't going to post but decided to anyway.
TONE ID. I think if Tesoro could get the tone id part right, that would be a big help. None of the tone id units have been very good, tone wise. The dual tone models like the Pantera, Golden Sabre, Golden Sabre II, and the multi-tone models like the Golden uMax and the new toned Golden uMax all have the same problem - and that is there isn't enough difference in the tones. On the new toned Golden uMax, the 1st and 3rd tones are hard to separate so I've had to resort to thumbing the disc knob and flipping notch switches to separate those tones. The very thing one should NOT have to do on a tone id unit. On the old toned Golden uMax, the two middle tones are hard to separate so we had to learn tricks to help separate those tones. On the older dual tone models I had to re-learn them every time I layed them down for a few weeks and then picked them back up. For a dual tone model, look at the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. That one got the dual tone right.
Get the tones right. Distinct tones that don't require thumbing disc knobs or flipping notch switches or putting a coin in your shoe. If Fisher, and Whites and Garretts and Minelab and Discovery, and Compass and Bounty Hunter can do tone id properly- then I know Tesoro should be able to do it, too.
GROUND BALANCE. Put manual or computer assisted ground balancing on your detectors that affect the Discrimination Mode. Not everyone lives in Florida. Why am I forced to open your units and ground balance with a screw driver every time I go to a new site. Totally Ridiculous.
Just do those two things, Tones and Ground Balancing, and add them to your current offering and you would be good to go with a new lineup. And we wouldn't give you much flack for it because it would make your detectors more useful. All you would hear from us would be "Why did you wait so long?"
Bring back the Pantera in a uMax configuration. Add more spread in the tones and use the HOT circuit. Leave everthing else the same. Presto...you got a new offering.
The Cortes has a terrific lower conductive range. Capitalize on that. Jewelry hunting is a big deal. Talk to jewelry hunters and develop feature sets for jewelry hunting that compliment that. Presto...you got a new offering.
Wow us all with a Tesoro version of the Whites TDI. You know that the discriminating PI is just around the corner. Whites is doing it. Where is the Tesoro version?
You don't have to reinvent the wheel....just make a Tesoro version of it.
Speaking as a Tesoro Fan. A very patiently waiting Tesoro Fan who is forced to go else where for his primary metal detectors. An who if the truth was known, only sticks around today because of the Cleansweep coil.
