New Bounty Hunter models coming soon...

The land Ranger Pro is 7.2 kHz and it's built on a similar platform to f19, goldbug pro/ G2 it's going to kick ass !

I've been an FTP/Fisher fan since I got the F70.
I see only good for the new Bounty Hunters!

Jorge, what freq does the new platinum operate at?

7.8 kHz like most of the other newer BH models from FTP, similar to the Teknetics 'Greek' series.

Same platform/frequency/processes as the EuroTek? There had to be some new programming done for notching and ground grab features, different display and notching categories too.
Same 7.8 kHz frequency, but not a Euro-Tek Pro type Volume system. It is in a similar housing, attractive, but different.

Do they use Greek series coils?
Almost. Same coils, but the Bounty Hunter design decision was to use the push-on connector and not the screw-on type like the Teknetics line. I'd say write FTP and let them know the new 'PRO' series ought to be more "professional" and have a screw-on connector.

I see Kellyco has the 10.25" Magnum coil listed as an option, don't know if that's correct or an error.
My guess is it's an error and those are for older version BH models. Just a guess, mind you.

Edit: Forgot to mention Kellyco page says there are 5 audio tones and an adjustable backlight on the Land Ranger Pro ... impressive!
Will the Land Ranger Pro be at or above F5 performance?
I believe the audio tone choices vary based on the Discriminate program you're using, and the adjustable backlight is nice. I don't think we'll know how the Land Ranger Pro compares with a Fisher F5 until we get them together to compare, but it will be interesting to see what they've done with the three new BH 'Pro' models.

we'll see. I don't think it's on the same platform as the F-19 and Gold Bug Pro/G2. I do think the Land Ranger Pro might be a decent unit for many, especially if they fit the best coil for the task at hand on the working-end of the detector. We'll see, and I know I am going to put one through the paces.

Thanks Monte,

I expected the frequency to be the same 7.8 khz as the other recent design FTP detectors.

IMHO 'Push-on' connectors on a 'Pro' series is a mistake unless it is allowing compatibility with other BH 'non-Greek compatible' coils ... and I didn't think it was possible to be compatible with the older coils and the 'Greek' coils on the same machine. My understanding is that (screw-on instead of push-on) is one of the differences between the Eurotek 'Pro' and the 'standard' Eurotek. Seems like more of a marketing differentiator (Bounty Hunter vs Teknetics/Fisher) than a manufacturing, technical or cost decision.

Using the push in coils means they will be able to utilize the 4" coil. To me that is great news. I hope this rings true.

I'll wait for your review. If it has some advantages over the F5 worth hooten about, I'll consider getting one. But I can live without the "ground grab", though the V-Break notching sounds interesting. Plus it's half the price of the F19.

Jorge, I have tried to send you a PM, but you don't have enough posts to receive them. Maybe the admin can unlock that feature for you since you represent a sponsor to this forum?

Buck got a hold of me in PM, I will try to get some more answers on Tuesday when I am back in the office. I can most likely get some pics up here like I did with the F19 in the F series thread to help answer questions for you guys, or if they are just simple questions, I can just pop one out of the box and test it out vs another Teknetics/Fisher machine for you guys to help. They look fantastic, I think this will definitely help Bounty Hunter as someone said, with a new style/new gen and getting out of the "Muffler" generation

The new BH's are a revision of the basic "Fratbros" platform. So, they share a lot of commonality with the Platinum, F5, Eurotek, Omega, etc. All machines based on this platform run at 7.8 kHz and use the Fratbros (Greek series) searchcoils: however some models use the push-on connector and others use the screw-on connector so when purchasing accessory coils you need to make sure you're getting the one with the right connector.

This series of metal detectors is NOT compatible with the older searchcoils from the "mufflers on a stick" series. This includes the round 4-incher.

Once again you have squashed my hopes and dreams by excluding this coil lol
I just discovered the coil compatibility chart on the Bounty Hunter site. It answers a lot of the questions I have asked.
Regardless, I will own one or two of the new machines, with or without the 4" coil :)
thanks for posting Dave

too funny

@DaveJ, "however some models use the push-on connector and others use the screw-on connector so when purchasing accessory coils you need to make sure you're getting the one with the right connector"

So, is it safe to say that 'all' the 'new' Bounty Hunter Models use 'push-on' coil connectors?

It's an important point for me since I own the G2 and am interested in the new 'high-end' BH model. Now if it uses push-on connectors I'll lose interest. For this MD'er these coils are expensive and adding the same coil twice to cover the two types just wouldn't fly.....

BTW, thanks for posting. I'm still patiently waiting for some user reviews (F19 also).....really like the new BH line, looks like great value to me....

The whole coil difference thing strikes me as part of a larger branding ploy. From the connector to the frequency, it looks to be repackaging and line extension... reaching out the the hardcore, "big dollar" user who has shunned BH in the past.

1 kHz difference in frequency? No appreciable change.
Garrett used the same range for decades. Hell, most have.
Coins and relics, baby, coins and relics.

Screw on connector? For weather proofing, okay, sure.
(But you can effect that with a $10 housing cover - or some bubble wrap and duct tape. The latter even comes in camouflage... or hot pink, even!)

The whole thing looks like a way to bring a new tech design developed elsewhere, into a new market. Same names, same niche, but add the word "Pro," and voila!... The guys who are already spending 3x or 4x ELSEWHERE with the Greens, Whites, and Aussies are now looking at your product.
Bingo!

If you ask me, it's smart. FTP makes more detectors than anyone in the world, meaning they know how to sell them, too.
Personally, I'm converted already. Fisher/Bounty Hunter/Tek, they're all I have now.
Do I wish they'd keep the same coil across the brand(s)?
Yes.
If they don't, I'm still golden. I'm feeling the love, FTP!

@Dahut, I totally agree....super marketing but to the detriment of innovation is a detriment in my book.....

Considering that the Bounty Hunter line essentially stopped all development 10 years ago, this a leap forward for that brand.
Realizing that the same designers have worked on all the FTP units for that same period only affirms that assumption.
And that is certainly what FTP is doing: revive an established line with new models... even if they come from another side of the house.

The automakers have done if for decades, after all. All you need is the oxymoron, "New and Improved" and the buyers will come.
Is it a better mousetrap, as you long for? For the BH name, absolutely. They now have two product lines to offer:

A line for the "Pro" (and we surely agree the Fisher/Tek lines that spawned the new BH UNITS are innovative.)
A line for the casual, entry level user.

I'm waiting for FTP to absorb Minelab, next. Well see some innovation then!

Kellyco/Brad, would love to see some pics and some more specs :)
