My Legend is a "DUD"

I'm curious of you're knowledge on the state of the art machines.
My Legend runs smooth as silk.
Even playing with it in my living room with the wifi TV and two phones running videos. Not a peep.
You need to read all of my post in this thread, before launching a personal attack. From 2000 until 2015 I bought, sold and or traded for every type of metal detector that was on the market at that time. I had a used metal detector business, I would inspect them, test them and sell them. I have tested everything from Bounty Hunter to the most expensive Minelabs, I probably have 1000 hours of experience using metal detectors.

I did not say every Nokta Legend is a faulty detector, or that every Nokta is a faulty detector, I am saying the Legend that I bought was faulty, it did nothing but chatter, no matter what program or setting. after testing a couple hundred detectors, I am capable of telling when a detector is faulty.

Buying the Legend was a bad experience from the very start. Just before making payment, I asked the dealer if the Legend Pro Pack, that I was buying was 2023, I was told yes it was. When I received the Legend Pro Pack, the first thing that I noticed was no cap, and that the Legend in the box was not a 2023. I called the dealer about the issues, he said that he did not look at the package before it was shipped, because it came from a warehouse. So quality control did not inspect the package that I bought, before it was shipped.

The final red flag for me was the Legend had excessive chatter, if every program and in every setting. So another inspection that did not happen. Another way that I know the Legend was faulty is I have a Bounty Hunter Land Star as a backup, and it did not have the same problem. Last week I bought a Minelab X-TERRA Pro, it does not have the same issue. Yesterday I bought a new in box Minelab Equinox 900, it works smooth. So at some point, an intelligent person looks at the situation and thinks, I have 3 detectors that do not have a constant chattering problem and one that does.

Sorry, but I am not going to candy coat a review of anything, that I get my hands on. Nobody gives me nothing, I pay for everything that I own. The guy that bought the LG30 from me has a Legend and is having great luck with it, we talked about doing a hunt together, after seeing a proper one in action, I might buy another one.

Wow 😮! I believe you misunderstood odanscoil post. Too much sensitivity dialed in 😂 if anyone is “attacking” I can provide a mirror. Damn…life is way too short to have blood pressure 200/100 over misinterpreting a question on a detecting forum. Good luck to you and I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous hunting season

Hmmm. Sounds more like a dealer problem rather than a detector problem! I believe you DID get a faulty Legend but if it were me, I would switch dealers and give a replacement Legend a try. It is a fantastic machine with a bang-for-the-buck value that is second to none! Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase. HH, George

I will probably try another Legend, the positive thing about posting me experience in this forum, is quite a few guys have contacted me, who are doing rather well with their Legend.

There are things that I did like, the menu system is easy to navigate, being able to update the software is a big plus, I have not heard any complaints about leaking, and it commands respect, when testing against higher priced machines.

The next Legend that I buy, will be a used one, where I can try, before I buy.

Well---I hope you have a friend willing to do that for you---AND---one that wants to sell his Legend. :)

Hi, Got mine a couple weeks ago and it’s the best detector I’ve ever used in the last 15 years.
There have been a couple guys contact me, who are very experienced with metal detectors and love it. Matter of fact, the guy that brought the LG30, invited me to go on a hunt with his group. I told him, if we go on a hunt and you smoke me with your Legend, I will be pi$$ed😁

I want to say for the record, I do not want the fact that I received a defective Nokta Legend metal detector to in any was cast a bad reflection on Bart at Big Boys Hobbies. I received the detector early last week, I put it together and due to rain, I could not take the detector out until this past weekend. I tested the detector over the weekend and noticed that it was defective. I called Bart on Monday and told him about the problem. Bart told me that I could send it in for repairs, or send it to him for a refund. I chose to send the detector to Bart for a refund. Bart has provided me with great customer service.
I got a defective Legend from Bart, too. I was disappointed that my only option was to send it to Andy for repair. Andy is a good guy but is overworked. (he replaced the mother board on my new Legend) Bart is a decent dude, but he should have had me ship him back the defective Legend and sent me a new one. He should force Nokta to replace instead of fix. My 2 cents.

Hello all... Dilek from Nokta Detectors.
I am sorry Tommy for your bad experience.
We can only control so much from the factory in Turkey dealing with the whole world.
We have hundreds and hundreds of dealers and unfortunately, we cannot see / hear what's happening on a daily basis with each end user.

However, should you decide to give the Legend another try and experience any issues, you can contact us directly and we will help you out!

On a separate note, Legend is not different than other SMF detectors out there and in fact is better in most cases in terms of dealing with EMI.

Regardless of what you're swinging, good luck and happy hunting!

WOW, thats a great company. Never seen a company back their great products the way Nokta Makro does.
Yup! And THIS is why Nokta has earned my business for both a Simplex and Legend purchases. Never before, in my 28 years of detecting, have I seen such a dedicated and supportive company towards it's customers! Their products provide such a great value, it's prompted other detector companies to sit up and take notice. So not only do we benefit from Nokta's awesome detectors, it has also shaken up the market to force other companies to step up their game. A WIN WIN for the consumer! HH, George Fatizzi

Hi, Dilek,

Thank you for replying to this thread, it shows that Nokta truly cares about their customers. I have had quite a few people contact me, that have had great success with their Legend, so I think that I just received one of the had some issues. I like Nokta products, I had a Racer 2 that I really liked. I use a Nokta pinpointer and Nokta digging tool. A forum member that lives close to me, has a Legend and has invited me to go on a hunt with him, to see how his Legend performs.

I do like the fact, that Nokta offer quality products at an affordable price. I will consider buying Nokta products in the future.

Thanks again,

Tom

I own just about every detector that is currently available and have to say that my Legend is hands down the quietest operating unit I own. No EMI, No chattiness, just plain silence until I hit a target.

I had the exact same experience with Bart 7 or 8 years ago with a Teknetics machine. I was told that it was a manufacturing issue and that I had to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. Bart just blew me off. I have since just blown him off. I have purchased many machines since then and he has NEVER gotten another chance to "sell" me any of them.

Everybody has a choice of which detector to buy or which seller they purchase from. I have purchased my Deus 2 and numerous accessories for it from Bart. Each purchase I had questions I asked before buying and every time my question was answered quickly. He must be doing something right he is still in business and he advertises on this forum. My point is you cant please everyone we can only do the best that we can with each situation,
