MXT vs DFX

Your making a good choice.
Some people really love the DFX but the learning curve that comes with
it turns a lot of people off. I bought my MXT used several months back and really like it,
although I also use my Ace 250 as well. Just depends on how I feel that day and if
I think there's something deeper in the ground which the MXT will find.
The ting is you alsmot never hear of someone having problems with the Whites
MXT or any other of Whites for that matter.

Good luck

I have all the coils Robert Roy talks about, for my MXT. They all work great. Wish there was a way to use all three at the same time.:wiggle:

Richard at backwoods detectors is also a very good dealer.....Like Steelhead suggests, This isn't the place for remarks for or against.

I am here in NJ and hunt the beaches almost exclusively. My friend, who has hunted for decades, could not use his MXT on the wet sand. It did not ground balance and was so noisey he had to go up in the dry sand. My DFX worked fine. It may be a little less sensitive to gold and not have as high as a gain internally, but you can, with very minimal changes to the Jewelry/Beach program, have a very stable detector that will find gold. It sucked up a nice 14k bracelet for me. I just got the Super 12 coil for it, so I am going to try that out.

My friend ended up getting a Sov GT and never used his MXT on the beach again.

If the beach is going to be your PRIMARY site for hunting, then the DFX will be better due to the dual frequency.

I have not used the MXT at the beach, and I believe it has a beach mode, but I am not sure what is discriminated out to make it stable in the wet sand. You may have to have a wider range of VDI's discriminated out to not react to the salt water conductivity. MXT guys help me out on this one.

Also, if the beaches are your primary sites ( I say over 75 % of the time, you may want to look at a waterproof unit). My hunting for mostly all of the year is strictly on the beaches, and have used the DFX there will good results, but since one careless drop would fry it, I use waterproof units.

Saying all that, the MXT is one great detector for other applications...maybe better than the DFX if the DFX is not tuned correctly ( it does have LOTS of adjustments that can be made to it). And lots of times simplicity rules ( I know I reach for my CZ6a when my brain gets fried).

Just my 2 cents.

The argument is silly buy both, and don't say you can't afford it that just reflects a lack of commitment. You cut your eating down to one light meal a day, sell the golf clubs and give the dog away. Many have started car pooling and sold jewlry that the wife no longer wears. In fact you might consider just getting rid of the wife huge savings there, make the kids start a lawn business and let them have a little of the money but not much. If you are still short order a pizza to be delivered at someones house you don't lie and rob the delivery guy. You also can get a reward for turning in your father in law to the IRS for cheating on his taxes. Bottom line it can be done, and no one says you have to stop there get you a XLT and a Gold master also, these small sacrifices do not compare to the joys of having Whites up the ying yang. Remembe he who dies with the most toys wins!!!!!

Duts, funny you should say "Sell the jewelry". I sold all my wife's broken pieces of gold jewelry and bought my MXT-300. Oh, and by the way, she did know about it. She told me if I could figure out a way to buy it, go ahead.....I found one....:detecting: Now I'm hunting for new gold.
