MXT vs DFX

Thank you all. My ONLY concern with the MXT , would be using it on the beach. I live on Kent Island in MD. Island equates to beaches, and more beaches.
I read the MXT is not great or even good on wet sand.

Bryan , go to the whites site to the video section and download the M6 video "Beach Detecting" Greg got hit by a wave and soaked his M6.So they are using Jimmys MXT for the video (hoping that no one would notice) LOL The MXT seems to be working fine at the beach.

I took a REALLY closer look at the video and sure enough, Jimmy is using the MXT. Seemed to be working FINE with that different coil!!
Bryan , go to the whites site to the video section and download the M6 video "Beach Detecting" Greg got hit by a wave and soaked his M6.So they are using Jimmys MXT for the video (hoping that no one would notice) LOL The MXT seems to be working fine at the beach.
download all the M6,MXT & DFX videos (to your esk top is easyest) and watch them.If you are still not sure, watch them again. That is one of the reasons i chose not to go with the DFX.(too many adjustments for this old man) LOL. I still have the M6 and MXT video's on my desktop........Tom

The MXT is the better of the two, especially when it come to a wet salt beach.

Thanks JW for the kellyco link. I am doing my small part by helping "John Q Littleguy" the little dealer who is scratching out a living despite the big corperate moguls ;)

Bryan. With the money you will save buying the MXT over the DFX you will be able to use that money to buy extra coils, probes, headphones, etc..

A great machine with all the toys to go with it. What more could a grown man ask for?

I could think of a few things.
Bryan. With the money you will save buying the MXT over the DFX you will be able to use that money to buy extra coils, probes, headphones, etc..

No problem, even Kellyco was started out of a garage.

The corporate mogul your referring to is a sponsor of this forum and JW is a knowledgeable and popular contributer to the forum. HH Dennis in Idaho

Thank you JW. I have been hearing conflicting facts about the MXT in wet sand. Is a different coil needed for better operation in wet sand?

A "DD" coil will work best on the beach or mineralized ground. We get 12 + inches on the wet sand here in Florida. Your ground in MD is very mineralized so a "DD" would be a help. http://www.kellycodetectors.com/excelerator/EXcelleratorMain.htm

I didn't say anything negative about JW....The little guy (Backwoods detectors) is a sponsor too. Dont try to stir something up steelhead.

I Had Both And I Used The MXT Much More Than The DFX---I Have Already Sold My DFX (Put The Money In The Bank) Till The NEW PI Detector Comming This Spring Is For Sale!!

Have you used the MXT on wet sand? If so , how was it?
I Had Both And I Used The MXT Much More Than The DFX---I Have Already Sold My DFX (Put The Money In The Bank) Till The NEW PI Detector Comming This Spring Is For Sale!!
Its steelheadfever to you sir. Now about stirring things up. I think you need to go back and read your post. Everyone on the forum at least those that have been on here for length of time know JW and know who he represents. When JW posted his website for information on the MXT you pretty much dismissed him and made your spiel for the little guy scratching out a living and putting down the corporate mogul, which you have a right to do, but I don't believe this forum is the place.. Before you start accusing me of stirring things up you need look a little closer to home. HH Dennis in Idaho

With all the highly varied soil conditions along with Ocean City, Rehobeth and other beaches I would get the DFX with more adjustments. The only problem is you would be giving up the deeper targets the MXT would get you. GEEEZZZZ, JUST KIDDING GUYS, TAKE IT EASY. Actually I believe it still comes down to what you like to use. I prefer the MXT because I don't have the patience to learn the DFX like it needs to be. Both are great detectors.

Thank you Nugget! I am shying away from the DFX . It has come down to the M6 or the MXT. I really want to be sure the MXT will be ok for me on the wet salt sand and the brackish wet sand.I want to make a purchase this week and I just want to be sure . Thank you all for your patience.
