mxt is about to drown

Hi digman, You didn't say which coil you are using. I bought mine with the 12 inch concentric coil and quickly switched to the 6X10 DD. It was suggested at one of the forums and what a difference it made. The 12" reads to much mineralized soil or trash whichever is the your case. The machine is more noisy than a lot of other machines. Relic mode is quieter w/threshold just loud enough to hear. Maybe you can borrow or try different coil before you throw in the bay. There's a lot of happy MXT owners out there. It's a great MD. Hope this helps. Rick

I have had more great finds with the MXT then my other 2 machines combined. I set the Disc. on 2 and the gain on +1 and have a slight hum on the threshold. Relic mode with trigger forward seems to get me more depth. I found my deepest dime in this set up with the VDI bouncy but would always bouncy in the good range. It was a 1917 Mercury dime around 10 inches deep. I'm set on mine. I did buy the V3 though to have a new toy.:surprised:
