Minelab Manticore

Yes I just got the Coiltek 10x5 and love it so far, but haven’t really put it to much of a test. If I decide not to upgrade, I will get the 15 inch coil. I originally did have the minelab 15 inch coil but found it I didn’t really use it very much and sold it. However, since the time that I had that I have realized that I actually do have a need for it, and so here we go again lol.
Where do find need for a 15” coil?
Getting to old to continuously dig 12” holes let alone 16” holes lol
Smaller coils go deep enough for anything i want to dig plus better separation and sensitivity
I take its not in a highly mineralized area

I feel for you guys waiting for your Manticores. Mark Dayton (youtube) says he has an inside contact at Minelab and said a shipment was on its way last week. But I've been watching my U.S. Customs source and nothing appears to be showing up in the U.S. The last Minelab detector shipment I see arrived way back on December 20th. Minelab Americas slow walked that December shipment releasing a few at a time so they must have known there was a manufacturing bottleneck somewhere that was going to delay the next shipment. Unless you are at the top of the line with a dealer, I would keep checking the Cabela's website late at night and early in the morning. They were receiving a few and they don't take pre-orders. They just put up a Manticore page and let the first people to order get them. That's how I snagged mine a few weeks ago. I don't know if the dealer I had my order at for months ever got any. I just canceled when Cabela's sent me one.

Another place to check is the distributor in NYC. I don't remember the exact name but a quick search will find their out of date website that says they are a Minelab distributor. You can call them and get on their list which is very short and no pre-payment required. It's an older couple running the store. They only accept Paypal or wired funds if they get one for you.
Just snagged one on Cabela's website, which I have been monitoring since pspr's post. They just came back into stock on the website about an hour or so ago. Had been monitoring every few hours for the last couple of weeks. They don't last long ...

Yep I could of bought one also but they don’t give any discounts . It was going to cost almost $1700 . I’ll wait for my dealer who gives a military discount. By that time , all this craziness will die down and there will be plenty available . Good luck and let us know how you’re doing with it . Thanks

Albert I may be off base in my thinking but it seems to me the roll out is being driven more by Codan than Minelab in which the investors are being a little snarky about giving up the 15% to veterans so they are pushing the products to the big box stores where as there is no discount. I don't think Minelab has a problem with the discount but It makes you wonder who's in the drivers seat. Not on the same scale but looked what happened to Boeing. Just sayin. Mark

I'm thinking the 15% discount to Vets is done by the dealers, if they wish to, and has no affect on Minelabs bottom line, just the dealers. Don't know for sure, though. If Minelab wants to do away with dealing with dealers, giving this product roll out to just big box stores will do what they wish. If they do in fact go the big box store route and eliminate dealers, I will have bought my last Minelab detector, however. With a dealer you can wheel and deal some, make trade ins, fondle the product and get on the spot info, to name a few things that big box stores don't do. HH jim tn

You are probably right but I’m sure that down the road , they’ll have to start giving them to the smaller dealers cause even with them giving a military discount , they are still making money . I’m sure they are not going to let that go

Cabela's gives a 5% military discount, and often runs 10% off days. there is no difference between them and the big box detector online stores who don't even have a physical presence anymore. I personally like going to my local dealer who is part of my club.

I agree, and personally, I have never bought a detector from a big box online store. However, when thinking about it, I have bought from my closest dealer via telephone and email discussion. Twice, I have had detectors to trade, we worked out a deal and we each sent detectors to each other. Probably not a whole lot of difference then dealing with big box stores and online dealers? The military discount is sponsored by minelab. Some dealers don't want to fool with the paper work. I know some dealers are getting machines albeit painfully slow. Minelab has cut dealerships before. With over 400 currently in the US, it may be the axe for some more. I only know of 2 in our state. So if its 2 per state that would be a total of a hundred. How many are in your state?

Well mine is here can’t wait to use it later thanks Mike Sube
