Let us all ask Minelab to make the Equinox series Firmware upgradable

We should all unite and ask Minelab to make the Equinox series firmware upgradable over the internet!
I wanted to preorder an Equinox 800 ,but after reading you can not upgrade the firmware at home over the internet, I am not going to order one and will wait till all the software bugs are repaired even if I have to wait six month or longer. If Minelab would change this before they bring out the new Equinox series, I would buy one right away.

I thought Minelab said during their Equinox introduction that they heard us and made the Equinox to our specifications, Minelab we are asking you now to make the Equinox series firmware upgradable from our homes and put your money where your mouth is!!!!!!! We want the Equinox firmware upgradable before you bring it on the market at the end of December or in January and bring a perfect unit on the market, you still have enough time left!

I don't know how many machines are in various people's hands at the current time, but I'll bet that question has already been offered up by those people and others.

I don't care about upgradable firmware. Would it be nice? Sure but no big deal to me.

Hopefully this campaign doesn't slow the release of the Equinox...

I gave him my etrac with extra coils ,rods ,etc...which was in mint condition......He took it on trade for when it comes out...that's how much I want an Equinox plus some cash..one of the coils was the 13" altimate .....I think this should cover it...

We live in the twenty first Century and we need and want everything upgradable over the Internet, like your cell phones tablets and computers. Since the Equinox is just a small computer we want it upgradable. Would you want to buy a cell phone or tablet etc. If you could not upgrade the software? I do not think you would. XP Deus can do it and Minelab has it in one of their other detectors, why not on the Equinox it is just like any other cell phone or computer technology!

I am still going to purchase the unit for me and my wife! I would say I like having my detector to be able to be updated! But hey look at the ctx 1 update really but that thing has found me alot through the years! If it’s good right of the shelf like the ctx and etrac then we won’t ever need an update! Still in my mind it would be great if they said hey let’s add a three tone option to the menu for our customers then boom there it is no having to send it off!

Whitbey, I held up on a previous ALL WEATHER DETECTOR purchase about 18 months ago because of troubles during the launch of the detector. Looking back, I am glad I waited. If you have concerns and misgivings about the Equinox faltering out of the gate, you should wait. Don't feel pressured because of the enthusiasm of others. If the Equinox doesn't check off the boxes that you want, don't buy it. There are other detectors out there that are very capable and I know of one that can be updated that has a very large following. Of course, it does cost quite a bit more . . . . . . . . .

Why should it be updatable?
How do you know it will require updates?
Without ever having touched the machine or seen it in action, why are you convinced this is necessary?
Furthermore, how do you know what you read is accurate?
Where did you read this?
What is the reliability of the source of that information?
"I'm not going to order one" = Ok
"Will wait until all the software bugs are repaired" = How do you know such bugs exist?

He gave money to a guy who said he's get him a detector. That's not pre-ordering, that's being foolish.

You traded a MINT E-Trac with extras and you want to give him MORE money? So you make poor decisions often? You are either foolish or lying.

My mentor has run the same machine for over a decade, without upgrades, and he has over a dozen gold coins. I have a stock E-Trac with no "upgrades". The VAST MAJORITY of Metal Detectors (like 99% of them), do not have this capability. So why are you so convinced it is necessary for the Equinox, why are you so convinced it's not possible with the Equinox (I read it on the internet is NOT proof), and why are you so convinced Minelab is messing up with this machine? Admit it, you are here to poison the discussion.

Literally WHAT is an Equinox II? What are you babbling about? You're speaking in absolute nonsense.

The accusation is that essentially Minelab is putting a performance governor on their machines so that they can sell you an upgraded model later for more money. Then why release two versions of the Equinox at two very different price points? Why offer them for less than the current models? What proof do you have that this is their plan? Is there a Safari II? an E-Trac II? A CTX II?

Explorer XS - Released in 1998; Explorer II - released in 2004; E-Trac - Released in 2009; CTX3030 - released in 2012. These are all machines that improve upon the previous machine in significant ways, and they were all released years after the previous, and they were all offered at different price points. The Safari, the Quatro, and the SE Pros were all SIMPLER versions for less money.

You have not even touched the machine - let alone operated it - and apparently you put up a mint condition E-Trac, extras, PLUS CASH to get a Nox800, and now you're accusing Minelab of having some bizarre scheme to screw you out of your money? Seriously, Ksdirt, there is something wrong with you. Or,a s I have suggested already, you are here for the purpose of disrupting an otherwise normal - sane - conversation.
