My Garrett AT Pro was the birthday of the half century that made me my friends.
My main interest is history, relics and if nothing else, the jewelry ...
but it is best to move the body and enjoy nature

70 now and started detecting little over 4 years ago. Wanted something else to do with time and thought it would be fun. Started off with AT Pro then added the AT Gold when I went out west to play in the gold fields near Las Vegas on trip. Let GF use the Pro while I used the Gold. Had fun but very hot. Sold the Pro last year and added the ATX. Mostly hunt beaches near Daytona and north of Myrtle Beach where I split my time. ATX has been an experience but I really like it. Best thing I found was my new replacement knee when swinging the ATX. Took awhile to figure out what that little beep was when coil passed in front of right leg. TSA has fun with it too. It's mostly a great walk on the beach as GF enjoys watching the waves with occasional fun finds.

67 on Dec 7th upcoming. Started in 1975. Have found the AT Pro to be one of the better detectors I have had over the years.

Not much for posting, but thought I'd join in this thread. The odometer just rolled past 70 two weeks ago. Some days I feel half that age; others, not so much. Bought my first detector, a Compass Judge, back in the mid-70's, and have been at it ever since.

I'm 15; I've been detecting since I was 11.

I'm looking at 58 years old and real soon to be 59. After 25 years
of Iron working and erecting buildings I feel like a 100. These "OL"
bones aren't done DETECTING yet though. It's a PASSION!!!

I see with pleasure, many years I have left to enjoy this hobby. This post was a great idea John. With four words we can learn a lot from us.
:clapping:

65 this month

My body is 52. My knees are 104 because of this hobby, but I would not trade it for anything. Started with an old Whites Coinmaster in 1990.

I'm 38 and will be 39 in a couple weeks started detecting at 16 with a original Tesoro Bandido non-Umax version.

I started when I was in my late 20's to help keep my dad active on the beach. I'm now 72 and still enjoying the hobby. I'm still often surprised by what I find and at 72, I still learn more about hunting technique each time I hunt. I used to dig absolutely everything but some lower back issues have made me a little more picky and I probably miss some good stuff. It's amazing what time does. So much more time on my hands but the body limits dictate the amount of hunting time. These days I really get a kick out of taking the granddaughters hunting and just enjoy seeing them find treasure.

I'm waiting for the carbon dating on my clothes to come back from the lab so I'll know for sure.................... old

90...Got interested in metal detecting 'bout '63. Built my first detector from plans in a book. Coil was 18-20" in diameter. It was a BFO. It worked but didn't find much. My first "commercial" detector was a D-Tex by Bill Mahan. Then I bought Garrett detectors. Have had so many detectors I have lost count. Currently own just two, a Garrett AT-Pro and a CZ-6a. Love both. Wife passed away last year and haven't been out much. She got interested in detecting after I found a turquoise ring in a campground we were at. We eventually joined a club and enjoyed hunting together.
