Here's The Specs On The New ACE 350 Relic Machine To Be Released In September

I'm getting ready to sell my 250 with the 9x12 coil. This should get me within $100 of the 350. Not a bad deal if you ask me!

It will help with finding silver coins, rings etc. in iron junky areas. Cutting back on (some) iron disc. will allow the detector to pick up desireable targets close to iron. Also, some foreign coins read in the iron range, so having the ability to control some iron disc allows foreign coins to be picked up, while still discing out some iron.

Hope this helps.....

Sword blades and some scabbards, cannon, cannon balls and shells, knives, union canteens, some horse tack, and carriage parts, ox and horse shoes, and many other types of relics are made out of iron and other low conductivity metals. It is nice to be able tell those apart from nails.

Relic hunters look for much more than just coins, in fact in many places we hunt finding a coin is the exception rather than the rule. In most of the farm fields I hunt in you can go 50 or 100 targets without coming across a coin.

If you are interested in coin shooting the Ace 250 will likely be a better choice than a machine tweaked up for relics.

I pre-ordered a 350 and I'm going to keep my 250 with the sniper coil mounted. Will save a little labor and time with coil switching. Ron.(aka: CI Guy)

Same here Ron, though I'm still running the stock coil on my 250, I may buy a Sniper to add to the arsenal  You know, I just had the thought....having a 2nd/back-up detector might be a plus (besides the obvious reasons). It could be used as "bait" to get a property owner involved when gaining permission to hunt ;)

After posting that, I posted the same question in the MD board to see what others thought of the idea......lol, seems like many didn't want the competition  I guess I'd rather hunt 1/2 a property than none of it. Besides....if they enjoyed it, you may have made a new MDing buddy.....and who knows the resources (sites) they may have access to? You might get an invite to go hunt Aunt Myrtle's old home.......

UPADTE Garrett will not be releasing the Ace 350 until mid to late October.
I guess we will have to wait for our early Christmas present.

You are so right. What contstitutes a relic is also very subjective, and would vary between locations. One area may have settlers only going back 100 years. Another area may go back over a thousand years.

Well here they are folks...all the negitive people are popping in about the new Ace 350...seems the "Pro Relic" dudes are here to cast there lot about the Ace 350. Oh my, why would Garrett do this or do that? The 350 doesnt need a ground balance as it is pre set at the factory. The advantage it has its a bigger coil, better iron discrimination, and a DD coil, which to me IS the extra ground balance you seek. The DD coil will shock some people who have used the 250 with stock coil in hotter than H ground and it goes nuts. The new chip and the new coil will be just fine for this ground. Just as I have put a DD on my 2500 which has grd bal still makes huge difference in hot grnd with a DD coil.

The 8.25 khz freg will be just fine for low conductors AND high conductors. It is a coin machine also you know. I think Garrett is smarter than most of these negitive people and they chose that freq after extensive testing and decided it is perfect for this LOW COST detector.

Ya know, I can pick up a .1 gram gold nugget with my Ace 250 deeper than I can with my 2500. And that is with the 250's 6.5 khz freq compared to the 7.2 freq for the 2500. One inch with the 250 compared to 1/2 inch w the 2500.

To you negitive people out there, go ahead and dismiss this new Garrett machine as you do all its machines. You always try to compare a $1000-$1500 machines to low cost Garrett detectors. That in itself says it all...Garretts little "toys" matching it self in the field with the spendy competition and holding its own. Try comparing the low cost "others" with the Ace series and I have to just laugh.

T2 vs a GTI 2500 I understand...T2 vs Ace 350...different class.:rage:

Holyfield vs Tyson I understand...Holyfield vs PACQUIAO...different class:puke:

Maybe try one for yourselves and see how a low cost good performer is, it is designed that way. In its own class!:garrett:

Alan

:nopity: for you

A big problem for a lot of 250 users ( I am one of them ) is all the falsing they do even at lower sensitivity ( usually a fault of the preset GB ). The claim that preset ground balance is good enough for everybody is ridiculous , especially for relic hunters. Im not a newbie , Ive been doing this for 20 years. Bigger DD coil does not constitute extra ground balance at all. The 350 may be a good machine , but it is definately not much of an upgrade for the folks already using a 250 , and there are definately better "relic" machines out there in that price range. Its a slightly modified 250 and thats all , with a reputation for going bonkers in moderately mineralized or trashy ground and a recovery time slower than just about every other detector out there.
