Guess the GOLD at Ganes Cr, AK. Contest

Good luck Guys, my final guess is 17.8 oz's for week two. Picture is my gold I got on my patch hunting with Pondmn and Shep. All gotten in one day, + the gold cufflink, which I sent to Jim Straight for a keep sake. Grubstake

I am guessing the second week will yield 12.0 ounces.

We have hiked many hills and crossed many streams in our search for the yellow metal. We have also enjoyed some of natures incredible beauty along the way. Not only is our country temperature HOT and COLD but it is also steep. These first three photos show the area of a shaft mine which produced one of the great amounts of lode gold in our area. This shaft is 1400 feet in depth and from 1100 feet you can still see the opening. I would not recommend that anyone go into these old mines. Stay out! We also have old cemented gravels at a lower level and you can see someone punched a prospect which is about 100 feet deep and appears to have a vertical hole at about 50 feet. You couldn't pay me enough to go into this one. We continue to unsuccessfully search this bench. You never know when you might get a hit and we still have faith in a find here. It is not only the finds but the search and friendship that keeps us going...good luck to all...dw

Everyone enjoy the Contest and get your last guess with photo in today before noon.

Jack, I think I have this "Guess the Gold at Ganes Creek, AK" contest wired. I picked week 1 as the best week and unless there are some great hits, 37 OZ is hard to beat. I said 22.3 and that is the closest I see for that week. Now I may be wrong, but ---------

And you were saying that Doug needed to re-work Ganes Creek so that more Gold could be found---Don,t think so-----Take care John

Jack
You remember when we were up at Ganes Creek Last July I did bend your ear saying that the Creek was mined out. What can I say, I was wrong. It sure was not Doug Clark's fault. Doug made a friend for life out of me. He had that big cat out there every day trying to help us find gold, but for several weeks there were poor results, and two of those bad weeks I was there. If it were not mined out then it was my ability and I could not say that.
