God seems to give me a lot of ideas....

Pete in MI

New member
and kinda wished I could see them developed and make some money off them. Had an idea that I shared with Mike from MI about using those SD cards to put programs on for sharing with other users of the Minelab detectors. Read enough about the detector to come up with the idea and it seemed great. Contacted Minelab - Australia and they had me contact Minelab - USA. Contacted the President of the company and told him my idea. He agreed the idea was a very good one - but - he said other Minelab users had already made that suggestion. OK so it is a good idea and others have suggested it - wonder why they didn't do anything with it?

Had an idea for some janitorial equipment. Know it is something that would be an add on item for a certain type of cleaning equipment but well just don't know what to do with the idea. Have had lots of other ideas too.

I have been thinking about water detecting and thinking about safety. I think those who water detect in lakes with power water craft should have a flag - like the divers flag - to warn pwc to stay away. I have heard of several near misses to water detectorists so here is my idea in picture form:

Talking to one of the club members who does silk screening lead to another near miss story, a bit of humor how this being so simple and so appropriate that it is probably illegal (to change the divers flag) in some governmental agency's eyes. He suggested maybe contacting someone that designs flags. CHecked one site and there is a $195 set up fee and then for 1 - 99 of these flags it would cost $23.95 each. So guess this isn't going to go anywhere either.

Not complaining that God is giving me ideas...just wished I knew where to go with them.

Oh well hope ya like the flag idea. Thought it would be kewl if we could even get them on T-shirts for those who water detect to show their aspect of this wonderful hobby.

I know they could be done a lot cheaper than that! I got people! :)
Might want to change it a bit so people don't confuse with divers?

they are easier to see on the water than blue, green, and other dark colors that would blend in with the water. I thought of using this flag - very similar to the divers flag:

This is the national flag of Trinidad. Here in the USA who would know?

Then thought maybe should just use on already made that says it all:

I certainly don't want to use something like a checkered flag so people on jet skis think my head is the finish line.

I talked to Al about the design. He was the one who suggested finding someplace else that does that. (Main problem he had was these type of flags being made of nylon, they are very hard to silk screen).

I don't know of anyway of making these flags or similar and keeping the price down where others would want to buy them.

Mike if you can get it done you have my permission to take this idea and run with it. Any money you can get from it you can have. Just let me have a free flag. :) BTW to add to your possible royalties think T shirts with that design and baseball hats too.

Good luck Mike.

It is all your idea, and all monies are yours my friend! :) You know you talked about the floating seive. How about connecting one of those bright orange bike flags to it? Those flags are also used on off road vehicles. easy to see and in-expensive. Can be but down if you don't want it five feet long? Or the square orange ones that truckers use for wide loads. They are a little bigger flag than the ORV flag, they are a plastic mesh material too. Not sure you need a design to be seen?

it is for divers and snorkelers..just thought it would be nice to add our detecting design so even though we're not skin diving or snorkeling we are in the water and just as 'invisible' to watercraft. Besides the T-shirt idea was a neat thought too so use water detectorists would have one more T-shirt to wear

I know Al can do silk screening on cotton T-shirts so maybe even having the design on a t-shirt would work - but only if no deeper than waist deep and not wearing a floation vest or other outer wear over the T-shirt.

No you go ahead if you would like and utilize the design to make some extra money. I don't feel much like pursuing this. As I say I do have the divers flag I will use and have an old fiberglas cb antenna to mount the flag to and it has a thread base so it will be easy to attach to a floating sieve. Think the bike flag would be ok but I feel it is too small to be seen at a distance. The 2x3 feet flag is better visibility both in side and in color.
