It's fixable and the patch should be available ASAP!

Try keeping the coil and inch or less above the targets.I don't have this problem with mine. Also version 9.08
Yep, still no issue.Try keeping the coil and inch or less above the targets.
Sorry Squirrel, I don't work for Garrett. I am not privy to a lot of inside issues. I turned 70 earlier this year. I was a friend of Charles. We used to correspond by mail, as computers weren't main stream yet. Anyhow, I volunteer my services, to keep my mind sharp after recent retirement. Look, the unfortunate issues affecting the Vortex are a disappointment for all of us. But, put in perspective....it's a machine. Not a mother, father, sister brother friend etc. It will have a fix. It's not worth your while stressing and releasing harmful hormones. A month from now, hopefully all will be well, and things will settle until another machine is deemed defective, then this whole cycle will repeat itself. I will not allow a crazy frenzy to happen here. If you feel you you can't come here under those restrictions, then perhaps this isn't a good fit for you. And nobody has any intentions of banning you. My goal is to have a Garrett forum where everyone feels at ease posting their Garrett finds and supporting each other.Censor huh.
These were about only videos showing these new models on the internet in action.
This place seems is as bad as fan boy Facebook group.
So.
The management can delete my account and everything I have ever posted here.
And this is why metal detecting forums are drying up on the bone.
No one including Garrett, John Edmonton has said anything about models Vortex VX7 or VX5 having flaws.
So I don’t know even what the manufacturer knows about these issues on these models.
Bye
Garrett should be able to repair the V3i model, as they inherited all the parts and components with the purchase of White's.A friend recently bought the Vortex and did pretty good with it when we went to a park a couple weeks ago.
I don't know if he is aware of the issues mentioned, so I'll mention it to him next time we meet.
Garrett has been a major player for years - I feel they are looking into an update/fix. Give them time.
Although I'm old school, it is kind of nice that one would be able to get the update/fix from right at home - can't do that with my old school detectors when back in the day would have to ship the detector to the manufacture. And even then, can't do that with some now (for example if my V3i needs work White's is no longer).
