Garrett is working on fixing the recent VORTEX VX9 issue discovered by someone .

Sounds good John.
They better be working on a fix for VX5 as well. And perhaps VX7.. This gent may upgrade this VX5 to VX7 and try it and see if it’s infected too.
Here’s new VX5 unit right out of the box today.

I can confirm after talking to purchaser of VX5 who has upgradded to VX7. VX7 is infected as well.
Video will be posted soon.
I’ll post here. Both multi freq and single freq ops affected,

Censor huh.
These were about only videos showing these new models on the internet in action.
This place seems is as bad as fan boy Facebook group.
So.
The management can delete my account and everything I have ever posted here.
And this is why metal detecting forums are drying up on the bone.

No one including Garrett, John Edmonton has said anything about models Vortex VX7 or VX5 having flaws.
So I don’t know even what the manufacturer knows about these issues on these models.

Bye

Sorry Squirrel, I don't work for Garrett. I am not privy to a lot of inside issues. I turned 70 earlier this year. I was a friend of Charles. We used to correspond by mail, as computers weren't main stream yet. Anyhow, I volunteer my services, to keep my mind sharp after recent retirement. Look, the unfortunate issues affecting the Vortex are a disappointment for all of us. But, put in perspective....it's a machine. Not a mother, father, sister brother friend etc. It will have a fix. It's not worth your while stressing and releasing harmful hormones. A month from now, hopefully all will be well, and things will settle until another machine is deemed defective, then this whole cycle will repeat itself. I will not allow a crazy frenzy to happen here. If you feel you you can't come here under those restrictions, then perhaps this isn't a good fit for you. And nobody has any intentions of banning you. My goal is to have a Garrett forum where everyone feels at ease posting their Garrett finds and supporting each other.

They will get it resolved. I am watching and may just add one to my arsenal soon. I really liked the at gold i had, and wish i never sold it

As upsetting as this is we need to give Garrett a chance to address these latest issues. They are a good company with great build quality , customer service and are just venturing into the SMF field. They really need to take a deep dive into how they test their machines before releasing them and how capable their field testers really are. Not many American manufacturers remaining and I really wanted to buy American like all my previous machines dating back to the seventies.
