Fisher gold bug?

The Teknetics 11"DD Coils I have priced are around $189-$199, making this coil as one of the
more expensive ones on the market. But, if they do a good job it is worth the price.
I'm sure this Coil will have some future competition bringing prices down.
Until then, this Coil is a hot item. Kellyco has sold-out of these and I hope they
get some in soon or I may try another Dealer.
I'm retired now so I have plenty of time to do some Metal Detecting especially
for Gold but I wouldn't mind finding some nice coins, rings, etc.

The 11 inch DD is waterproof. If you're buying an 11 inch DD for a new Gold Bug type product, make sure you get the one for the Tek Titanium (a.k.a. "Greek" or "Frat Bros.") series, not the Tek T2 coil which works only on the T2.

Thank you both for your advice. Sometimes I like to stick the coil into the River or Creek water to get as
close to the gold nuggets or flakes as possible.
To azsh07,
I lived in Arizona (Phoenix area) for 26 years and I agree that the desert ground is highly mineralized and hard as a rock
which makes Metal Detecting for gold very difficult. Usually, I went to Lynx Creek area near Prescott, Arizona and would
pan for the gold and usually would find small flakes and sometimes small nuggets instead of using the Gold Detectors that
were being used 20 + years ago because were not very good at finding gold as they are today. Today's metal detectors
and gold detectors are a vast improvement over my old Tesoro Lobo gold detector.
I live in Coeur D' Alene, North Idaho (a beautiful place to retire to) and I'm within an hour's drive to Gold country.
Generally the ground is not highly mineralized where I live but becomes more so as I get closer to the Gold
placer areas. North Idaho is 85% forest so you have to look closely for obvious signs (quartz and magnetite)
to find the gold. Fortunately, most of the land is public and there are very few restrictions for Metal Detecting.

I am following this very close,i think we will all be suprised, good or bad!!!!! I am leaning towards the SE but still thinking on waiting for the PRO.This has been discussed quite abit lately.Maybe this PRO will turn out to be great like the LTD,or maybe a waist of time and money,as Mr. Bill stated in another post will just have to wait and see.IMHO

Again, we have one fella on here that can find 1 grain gold with the Cabellos version. In my books, that is good enough. Any lighter in weight and it will be gold dust that I'll be digging, iun which case, it will be a pain.

I took this photo today of my little gold nugget and gold flake.
Both together weigh .01 ounce or .3 gram. The smaller flake, on the right, weighs 1 grain and
is detected at 2". Both are detected at 5" in all-metal mode using my standard Cabellas Gold Bug detector.
Also again, this detector will detect coins up to 10" using the standard 5"DD coil that came with it.

Mother of god, those are small lol. Sign me up. I want one. Anything smaller and I might as well stick to gold panning instead of sniping. One last thing, the photo puts everything into perspective for me.

Went to Cabellas but they were sold out so came home and ordered from Kellyco. Got the MPX for the bogo deal of $120 plus a few accessories. Hope it will make a decent backup for the Gold Bug and/or 2nd detector for wife/son to use. Waiting to get started in the hobby so hope they ship soon. Live in northern Nevada so plan on hunting old gold/silver areas near here and northern CA. When I get started I will try to post anything of interest concerning the detectors or finds.

To azsh07,
Today, Kellyco informed me they received an order of the 11" Teknetics coils but none of them would fit
the Gold Bug. They said the plug was completely different.
They didn't say if they were the DD or for what detector these would fit.

If the connector was a push on style it would not fit. I am not familiar with the Teknetics greek series to know which ones take the push on and which take the thread on style.
I would call them back and ask...is it an 11"DD and is it a thread on connector or push on connector.
Kellyco does not have any Guld Bugs yet and if they do they just got em so.....I would not rely on them knowing what works and what does not at this point.
Just ask them if they have a Thread on style 11" DD coil for the Greek series Tek machines. if they do...order it.

They have the correct one in stock. here is a link to the coil page. notice the statement about coils at the top. You want version 2 connector. Go down on the page and click on the 11"DD coil and add it to your shopping cart. When you check out you will need to specify version 2....screw on.
Now, if you choose to waste your time and ask them if it works on the new Gold Bug then you might as well just stick your head in the toilet and flush it...o.k.
Again...I talked to a women named Lilani...she physically touched an 11DD coil with screw on connwector for the ohmega.....they have them.
If you mention the Gold Bug to them you will have wasted my time and I will chase you down and make you dig pulltabs the rest of your life.
Go order it now....as far as kellyco is concerned you HAVE A FREAKIN TEKNETICS OHMEGA.

To azsh07

I told them it has to work. So Kellyco got back to me and said they compared with the Gold Bug 2. No-no that's not right I told them, so I sent
them a photo of my Gold Bug LCD meter. Now they know. They said that's the new Gold Bug and we don't have the new ones to try with the Teknetics Omega 11"DD
coil.
I told them that I will take a chance with this Coil so just send this to me. However, I have to wait until they get back a Teknetics 5"DD coil with a screw on plug
that they sent to me which was the wrong one. I needed the push on plug for my other Metal Detector, the BH Platinum. As you can read I have been going around
and around with them. So, they said after they get this Tek Omega 5"DD coil back they will take my purchase price on that unit and apply it to the Tek Omega 11"DD coil.
Their shipping has set aside this Tek Omega 11"DD coil. I hope they have.
In the meantime, I have sent off $130 for the Tek Omega 5"DD coil with a push on plug, which Kellyco doesn't have, to another Company.
This is for my BH Platinum detector ( Cabellas again ) which does a fantastic job with it's standard 8" coil thinking it might even do better with
smaller metal objects with this 5" coil.
The photo below shows a very small gold nugget and an even smaller gold flake. Both together weighing .01 ounce (.3 gram).
The small 1 grain gold flake can be detected with the Gold Bug at 2" and both of them at 5" using all-metal mode.

My BH Platinum detector will even detect this gold at 3" in all-metal mode with it's 8" coil.

The F75 is advertised as gold prospecting capable. Has anyone compared it's ability to detect gold compared to the gold bug?

I would take another look at your box as the first Gold Bug (19Khz) came out in the late 80's and was discountued in the mid 90's when the Gold Bug 2 (71 Khz) replaced it. The "new" Gold Bug that is sold at Cabela's is not the same as the version the dealers will start receiving in a few weeks. The Special Edition is due out at the end of May and the Pro they have pushed back to this fall. (Latest word from Fisher)

It would have to be a Gold Bug 2 in order to pick up a 1 grain spec of gold or do you mean 1 gram ( a little over 15 grains in a gram)?

I knew when they brought this version out it would cause confusion because of not adding a number behind the "Gold Bug" although both operate at 19 Khz.
I am really excited about this new version as it will be another multi purpose machine on the market for around $500 (depending on where you purchase it).

The Gold Bug I bought at Cabellas, 3 weeks ago, is not the same as the Special Edition nor the Gold Bug Pro. However, when I
sent a photo of the LCD layout and other info. in the Gold Bug Manual to Kellyco, they said it's the New Gold Bug in their words
whatever that means.

Let me state a fact; it does detect 1 grain not gram of gold. I have a special, sensitive scale which is highly accurate.
Let me state another fact; the Garrett Pro-Pointer, using the coin trick which doubles the sensitivity, will also detect
1 grain of gold. There is: 1 troy ounce = 31.103 grams and 24 grains = 1 pennyweight, etc. What I'm saying here is
I'm using the Troy weight system and not the Avoirdupois weight system.

When the Gold Bug New Edition and the Gold Bug Pro come out, I hope they are a better product than
what I have. I'm just happy with what I have and did not want to wait forever for the Special Edition or the
Pro Edition.

With my Gold Bug gold detector, I can detect (air test only): 1 grain of gold at 3 1/2" (all-metal mode); 6 grains of gold at 6" (all-metal mode); penny at 11" (all-metal mode); nickel at 13" (all-metal mode)
quarter at12" (all-metal mode) using the standard 5"DD Coil. I have ordered the 11"DD Omega Tek Coil for this Detector and will test it when it arrives. I run each test 6 times for accuracy.
