FILL IN YOUR HOLES !!!

Hey Daytona, I think it's right o fill those holes back in. Not like spirit level smooth, but so that no one can trip in to it. I understand that families dig holes, but not for the whole day long like a detectorist does. What are those other reasons why you don't bother? Are they good reasons? Good luck detecting,

Aside from the aformentioned public service of "educating humans to watch where they are going" aspect. Scientifically speaking, by digging a hole and not filling it, you are allowing the earth to "breath"..see? You've just created more surface area for the micro organisms to do their magic of ridding the sand of harmful pathogens. Why, one could debate that you actually are attempting to do your part to slow Global warming as well! The shade emitted by a well dug hole cools the surrounding strata, and also prohibits the sun from reflecting off a smooth surface that has been attributed to eroding the ozone layer. From strictly a time management strategy, a non-hole filler gets in anywhere from 20 to 40 more targets recovered in an outing than a compulsive hole filler. And think of how well a non hole filler wastes the time of compulsive hole fillers who come along and instead of hunting, feel obligated to fill the holes of a non hole filler! Why if a non hole filler also discards trash items back on the beach, a hole filler's entire hunt is consumed with filling holes and picking up garbage, thus giving the non hole filler total and complete access to the targets! I'm beginning to think either Daytona Gold is smarter than the rest of you, or else everybody who says they fill holes really doesn't, and just want us noobies to pick up their trash and fill their holes while they merrily hunt for gold!

Geez, you take a hiatus from the forum for a bit and look what goes on! I've hunted Daytona on a regular basis for several years. Seen a few who don't fill their holes but the vast majority do. No way you haven't seen it if you're looking around. Volusia county parks are indeed off limits but many of the city owned parks are still OK. Just not Orange City for one. And I do get sick of filling others holes on beaches and inland!!!
