Windows 7 Pro. My update app just stops responding. I load the program but when I turn on my 800 I hear the PC USB find new hardware but the update app does nothing. I click on it, the update app, and it says "Not Responding?

Yep, this is the problem that many of us are having trying to update using Windows 7. As a long time computer engineer/programmer I suspect that this is because the software wasn't thoroughly tested across the various platforms/configurations before release! Minelab is known for releasing buggy software! :veryangry:

Try to reopen the program

I've tried every combination there is. Nothing works.

I use windows7. I will go to the official website of minelab first, open the new article on the home page, click on an instruction link after the article fragment, click to download the first one, and then insert the EQUINOX link into the USB port, open the probe, the probe must link to the coil, and then open the downloaded MUU, follow the tutorial to complete the installation and perfect upgrade

Windows 7 Prof
Version: 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

1. Downloaded the update
2. "Unpacked" the program and the Minelab screen came up
3. Plugged the battery cable into the detector and the detector into the USB
4. Make sure coil is attached to detector
5. Turned the detector on - the detector was automatically discovered by the software update
6. Followed the prompts to install the update (had to do this 2x as the first time it didn't take but the software let you know right away)
7. The update did it's own thing and then when done - it automatically restarted the detector

Yeap, I have the same operating system, same version and service pack. I had no problems with updating my 800 & 600 took about 5 min to do both machines. I did all proceeder's just as you described, with no problems.
I will hit the beach in the morning and see if there is anything different, but I suspect nothing is going to jump out at me as a big change, we will see.

Ran it on my Windows 10 PC and the update worked fine! Windows 7, be it STD, PRO or SP1 seems to have issues.

Thanks for the heads-up, Just updated my 800. I'm running Windows 10 Professional Edition. No problems what-so-ever and it only took a couple of minutes. Probably wasn't necessary, but took off my 6" coil and put back on my 11" coil prior to doing the update. I also did a factory reset.

Thanks for the info and link Mr. Squirrel!

Borrow a friends computer and quit trying to fix a problem you cant.

For users of Windows 7 - run the exe file in XP mode. It works.

All Updated. I had a couple issues using an Older iMac running OS X 10.11.

From the Minelab website, I downloaded the Minelab APP for Mac using Safari without any issue. I clicked to open the program and my system security preferences were set to ONLY allow software downloaded from the Apple APP store to open. I had to update my preferences to allow software from the APP Store and Registered Developers to open. I relaunched the Minelab App and it opened fine.

Once open, I connected the Minelab USB charging/software cable to the computer USB port and the back of my EQ800, turned on the 800 and waited . . . and waited. Nothing. Program wasn't recognizing the 800. The charging light was blinking. . . . I checked the magnetic connection and it looked like the after-market cover I have on it, with a little cut out for the charging port, might have an edge of the material under the magnetic connector. I gave a little tug and the connector dropped fully into place and bang, the Minelab APP suddenly sees the 800. It shows me I have firmware version 1.50 and asks if I want to install the new version. I believe it was 1.75. I clicked INSTALL and within a minute or so it was done.

I see they indicated improved Depth Meter accuracy. This is very welcomed. And silver coin on edge accuracy . . and general updates. I'm going to spend some time in the field and see how they did.
