Equinox update released

i also tried to update my equinox with my Mac and it seems my equinox is not recognized when I connect it and follow the instructions. I tried it using both cables and got the same result. I figure I may as well call the shop where I bought it and see if they can update it for me using a Windows based PC?

I've tried updating using Windows 7 Professional (several computers). Utility downloads fine but does not recognize the detector (get program not responding msg if window clicked). Many seem to be having this problem using Windows 7. Has anyone had any success using Windows 7? Looks like another typical Minelab software bug! :veryangry::ranting:

David,
I had the same problem. The download would not work on my mac's safari. So, I read, on this thread, to use Google Chrome. It worked.

Exactly my problem using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Wow!1 very easy! Using windows 7!

Couple of things to try,,,

1) Run program as Administrator (right mouse click on EXE and select Run As Administrator).
2) Make sure Equinox is ON before connecting to the cable to the computer.
3) Make sure you are running the latest Service Pack for Window 7.
4) Turn off anti-virus when performing the update.
5) Make sure your system is clean as a whistle...after years of use, Windows becomes clogged with crud and USB can be very finicky detecting new devices.
6) Can't remember if Auto Run or Auto Play is turned on or off by default but this probably needs to be turned on. Google it to see how to turn it on.

When you connect the Equinox to a computer, software is installed (this is normal) and so many factors can come into play why this software doesn't get installed or installed correctly.

Though I haven't tried the update yet (only have Windows 10 installed on my computers so can't test it), I wouldn't be surprised the software hasn't been designed for the 9 year old operating system (Windows 7 was released in 2009 after all) or maybe it is using 64bit drivers which are rather flaky under Windows 7. btw Windows 10 was and still may be a free OS so may be it is time to look into upgrading. I upgraded an old Sony Vaio laptop from 2010 running Win 7 and it runs like a charm with Windows 10.

If you still have issues, it may be best to contact your dealer and they may be able to help you out.

I think a lot of the problems from people who are running windows 7 is the they are running very old computers which don't have a modern USB plug. I have seen many people yesterday saying they cant get the computer to see the EQX, but when trying to update through a more recent computer had no problem at all.

I in China, my EQUINOX600 in Windows 7 use Google browser to complete the update, update in a few minutes, very perfect

Two Deus updates, one very recent, installed with no issues at all. It's not up to me to fix Minelab's problems. Maybe they should hire the French.

Nope, Windows 7 has a hardware compatibility check which will only allow it to be installed on newer computers with compatible hardware. All Window 7 computers (5) which I have tried, have Windows 7 factory installed with the latest service pack and have/support the latest USB standards/ports (USB2 & USB3). PC system requirements per Minelab (Windows 7, 8 or 10, USB2 port).

I used Firefox on my MacBook Pro and it was a breeze.

- Yes when you connect the Equinox via a USB port Drivers are install which allows communications between the Software (MUU) and the Device (Equinox). If the the Drivers are installed correctly you will get a success message, if not you will get an error message. You can check the device manager to see if there were any errors, they (errors) are indicated with red check marks. this can be further investigated to see what the actual error is. In my case with windows 7 the Device manager shows no errors!

- Minelab says that the MUU Software is supported by/compatible with Windows 7, 8 & 10. I would surely think/hope that they as the software designers would know which OS's are supported!

I have no idea used my work computer they are always working on the systems? And I know squat about computers!

Windows 7 Pro. My update app just stops responding. I load the program but when I turn on my 800 I hear the PC USB find new hardware but the update app does nothing. I click on it, the update app, and it says "Not Responding?
