Dowsing and Detecting in combination?

Glad you were able to set all of us strait with your vast knowledge . Guess I wont be needing any more dowsing rods now that you have proved they are totally useless

I have used two bent wires to locate pipes, foundations, graves, and long forgotten trails.......all man made. Found a PVC water pipe within a few inches at over 18" deep a few days ago. Don't know how or why it works but it does for me every time. Even ran them over a "known" treasure trove and they really went wild. Still not seen any treasure come out!
Yes you have to ground balance them.....to get them to settle before use.
Never tried to find deep silver but now that it has been mentioned...maybe this will increase my deep silver count!

Consider what you are implying ... a "force" so intense in reaction to subterranean water that it pulled and bent down a tree limb. If we assume this actually happened, imagine the power necessary to do this. Magnetic attraction wouldn't do that even with a strong magnet, and magnetic attraction is a real force. Gravitational attraction is far weaker ... there is absolutely no physical force that would produce such a reaction in the manner you describe (I know - it's a mysterious force).

This is the problem with dowsing. It makes claims (no doubt truly believed) that no person would assume to be true IF they didn't see the limb bend down and assume it is some "unknown" force at work. This "unknown" force is supposed to explain it (or there is an appeal to ignorance).

But there is a force that can bend a peach tree limb down, and it would also cause the bark to peel off. It fits the evidence perfectly. And the force isn't unknown (it's been demonstrated to be the real cause behind dowsing). What is it? It's called torque. Twisting motion presented by the fingers/wrist upon the dowsing rod/stick/limb. It isn't magical but it is the force that makes dowsing happen.

And yes, you can find subterranean water and water pipes near to the suspected dowsing site - underground water is common and pipes are logically laid. But when the dowser is tested - as we saw - they cannot locate the specific location of pipes or water.

I'm fine with people dowsing ... don't care what people choose to believe, it's a free country (sort of). But even if some can't accept it others should hear the reality and then they can decide which to believe.

I've used bent metal rods to locate and trace underground utility lines, I've demonstrated to a skeptic, the drawing down of a forked willow branch and watched him become speechless when he tried and experienced the force himself. The man in charge of our town's maintenance department carried a telescoping hinged metal rod with a plastic bicycle handle-like grip for the purpose of quickly locating underground utilities. I don't know the science behind gravity, the origin of the universe, or what the most basic element of matter is, ....and I don't know how dowsing works, but it does.

I sure am glad someone else tore the scab off of this old thread, since I had something I wanted to add but I didn't want to reopen an almost healed wound....

I was talking to my father a couple days ago about the work that they are doing in front of my parents house. The state recently purchased the land to do some drainage work and needed to find where some water pipes were and guess who they had come out and try to figure it out? A woman with a dowsing rods! Apparently her dowsing rods weren't ground balanced or bent properly since she was about ten feet off, but still not too bad.

So, I start telling my father about this thread and he tells me that my uncle and grandfather used to have "The Touch". My grandfather had a wrecking company here in Dutchess County until the 70s and they frequently would have to locate the water shut offs before they started knocking down the buildings. Apparently, they were pretty good at finding these using coat hangers, or something, I will have to ask my father for more information.

As far as the wrecking company goes, they used to tear down old churches, estates, mansions, homes, etc. I can not IMAGINE the detecting opportunities that they had.

Interesting topic of discussion, with lots of interesting information both pro & con. Brings back memories when I was a kid I SAA at different times various adults use them and even got to try it out for myself, I personally wouldn't bother to carry a set around with a $2500.00 detector, especially if I believed heavily in them, but neither do I carry my AT Pro around while hunting with my CTX.

No matter what anyone else believes in or scoff's at, if they work for you then they work! If you're a scoffer then scoff off if that works for you, I should say scoff away, in the end it makes no difference, believers believe and the disbelievers continue to be unbelievers. I have nothing to add other than I enjoyed reading about Albert Einstein.

Happy Hunting...no matter what you choose to hunt with!
