Deus getting scared?

I see that the Deus has recently taken around a $400 drop in MSRP price. Are they getting concerned about a shortage of sales due to the new Nokta/Makro lines? Just a thought. Maybe we will see a similar trend with other companies as well?
What is the used market going to be like? Probably flooded with real good deals I would guess!

I think if you'll check it out you'll see it's actually the Turkish lira that's scared , even more than the Euro which XP probably deals with.
Racer might be $500 by the time it gets to market .

Wow!!!, I just read that on the deus forum.

think they could be a tad worried as they havent had a major threat to their sales from another bright spark euro machine yet ,with wifi phones which is a major selling point and undercuts the GMP (by 50%) and deus lite as well. the alleged drop in euro and turkish currencies as reason for price cuts could be a bluff .as UK dealers havent slashed their prices the same .
XP prices appear artifiicially high IMO
the TID on the deus is all over the place and can be improved by other machines

The Deus is the most versatile detector on planet earth. Nokta / Makro have their place.

I don't think they are scared but we will see what there new update has to offer to stay in the game

I would'nt go as far as say the Deus is the best. Far from it. One could say "most " expensive. I could take a used $150 Classic ID with a Bullseye coil on it.....and in a iron infested ghost town literally run circles around it. I played with one for a bit and the only thing I figured out about the Deus is that its a bit of a high maintenance machine. Didn't do what I wanted in the places I hunt.

*cough BS *cough

I can take a Pinto and run circles around a Ferrari. See I can say anything I want also as long as I don't have to prove it.

Versatile does not mean best.

Sorry Woodchip, your right.

Hey Southwind how ya been. Hey lets go meet at a ghost town I have in mind. You have to drive 35 miles in on an old dirt road filled with ruts, rocks
I'll take my old beat up ford 4x4 ( prob worth about $1000 ) and you can take you quarter mil Ferrari. Oh whats that ya say......you quarter mil car can't do it. Guess its pretty worthless for this particular task. No prob you can ride with me and if we pass anyone you can duck down in the seat so ya won't be seen riding in a thousand dollar rig :smoke:

i have checked the deus against my other machines on my test garden and its lacking even compared with my Delta machine which i now prefer to my deus .
so if the racer is a game changer all well and good

I find it funny that the Deus is seemingly always the one now to be singled out or mentioned when it comes to which is best. Coil size for coil size the Deus is a top machine. Try this. Go look at the White's V series section on findmall. It's dead. And seems most have even went back to MXT machines. Go look at the White's forum on the V series. Same thing dead. Even the CTX and Etrac sections of FM has cooled off it seems. I've seen quite a bit of you tube video and it seems the dedicated relic hunters are using the Deus in high numbers. As far as a vintage whites machine keeping up or beating the Deus goes. Looking at the whole detecting scenario this seems unlikely. Will there be niche scenarios where other detectors trump the Deus maybe/ could be. This niche thing will always be. This new FORS unit. I'm still waiting to see some head to head with the FORS wearing the medium sized coil and the Deus with 11" coil. What about Fisher, maybe they are scared. I mean they only let folks waddle around with the F75 series detectors with all the EMI noise for years. Finally they seem to have a fix. Was it the Deus that brought this on?? Maybe, don't know. Something else too that I find amusing. This new racer thingy. Everyone is trying to link it to the FORS unit. The racer is in fact a Makro detector. And the Makro CF77 to me after research was a bust in the unmasking department. So this detector the Racer is all of a sudden going to be "in somes eyes" the best thing since sliced bread. And this Makro company hasn't produced 1 detector that's a barn burner detector for unmasking yet. Finally, the CTX is the costliest machine. Maybe some should single it out.

good post. human nature and cold weather can produce delusional behaviour....ours is a tiny industry with 'glacial' levels of change so anything 'new' is feverishly taken to heart. The best times for these new detectors is before they are released. I think the 'racer' will be just ok, a letdown for the emotional buildup it has received. yes, looks like it will be a Makro based unit and not based on the Fors units. That model should show up later....I do hope the 'racer' comes in at $599 to make it a solid competitor in that mid-range price bracket....February should be interesting....cheers

I think everyone is comparing the racer to the fors core because it was pretty much said by the company itself that its what its going to be? you talk like makro is a completely different company with nothing to do with nokta but from what I have read people from the same family owned both companies even before they merged together which is the case now....

as for all the detector company comparisons...I dont grt into any of that....I had a deus and reslly likec it, had a ctx and reslly like it also. the deus is my favorite detector I have ever swung, i just couldnt justify keeping it sround for as little as i get to hunt compared to the cost of it. I for one am hoping the racer is the great seperator in iron its being touted to be and in the $600 range like has been mentioned. If so, I will be owning one and I am sure it will sell like hotcakes similar to the success garrett has had with the atpro..

Apples to oranges Greg. Now, you take your GEO tracker 4x4 and I'll take my Jeep 4x4 rock climber and we'll see what happens.

The classic ID is a fine machine for the type and price, but only a fool would think it can keep up with something like the Deus or E-Trac. Now if you're talking about putting the Deus in the hands of a beginner and an experienced person behind the Classic then yes I would agree. But that isn't what you posted. I guarantee an experienced Deus user would beat the pants off an experienced Class ID user. That shouldn't even need to be said.

I'm waiting to see this new comer prove itself as a top detector but so far I've seen nothing but a lot of talk. I'm hoping the Racer is also a top contender but I'm not handing it the status without first proving it deserves it.

Everyone knows VLF technology has pretty much hit the depth wall 20 years ago and today it is all about features. better target ID'ing, better GB, multi-frequency etc. What do these foreign detectors have that the rest don't that makes them so special? Old style flip switches and knobs do appeal to the nostalgic bunch, but to me it says old technology.

I am also Southwind. If (and that a big IF) it sperates and IDs as I have read its suppose to though, and comes in even close to $600, its going to fly off the shelves....

Direct quote from Nokta rep:

"The new Makro Racer will have the same performance -if not better in some circumstances - as the FORS delivered in a more elegant, and lighter design. It will come in a standard and a pro pack like the FORS but we are not including the large coil in the pro pack this time because most people prefer the medium and the small ones and we also want the pro pack to be at an affordable price point for most users. The large coil will be sold seperately. We will also have an optional bluetooth headphones available for the unit."

Thanks Steve. Sounds like the Racer has good potential and I anxiously await the arrival to see if it stacks up to expectations.

It's been my understanding that it is the Deus that seems to be the popular choice of many over the pond and growing. How long has the FORS been around?

You could run circles but that is about it...you won't find anything but iron less you dig everything
