I just tried tightening the cams a little more. I did get it to stop twisting. The cam is almost touching when closed in order to keep it from twisting.Interesting. Thanks for sharing that info...

That doesn't sound so good.I did tighten the thumb screws. I will try tightening them more tonight, but I thought I had the cams pretty tight. I hope it doesn't happen but I can imagine someone breaking those cams trying to get them tight enough that it doesn't twist.
Very interesting. The good news -- you got it tight. The bad news -- you don't have much more room to tighten further. Hopefully, you will never need to...I just tried tightening the cams a little more. I did get it to stop twisting. The cam is almost touching when closed in order to keep it from twisting.
I just hope it holds up over time. That doesn't sound so good.
I hear yah.----Nothing worse than an out of line coil or a loose shaft.I just hope it holds up over time.
I like everything to be inline and stay that way.
That’s a cool perk for your service!
Nice I just got mine from UPS a half hour ago. Been waiting downstairs all day so I wouldn't miss him lol. Hopefully the performance capabilities, are in some ways a little better than the 800.I got mine yesterday. Took 4 hours to change.
I did a quick run through my test garden, I think it may be deeper than the 800 by a little. It will definitely give a two way signal with good ID on my 10 and a half inch dime. I'm pretty sure the 800 will only hit it one way. I will do some testing tonight against the 800 and Deus II.
The shaft will twist even when tight, and the shaft to coil fit is very tight, a little too tight in my opinion.
In my test today it did beat the 800 slightly on depth and by a long shot on separation. But that was only one test.Nice I just got mine from UPS a half hour ago. One thing I was extremely disappointed in, was the way BIgboyshobbies packaged my detector for shipping. The box my 900 was shipped in, was almost the exact same size, of the equinox box itself. Their was zero amount of bubble wrap, or anything inside the box to protect the detector from shipping damage. The equinox box has a slight amount of damage, on one of the corners. But when you're spending the kind of dough, these machines cost, you would expect a little bit of thought in protecting the $1,100 machine from shipping damage. I totally understand your disappointment. My 900 was shipped in the same type of box. But I'm almost sure it's not the dealers that pack and ship, it's the distributor. One thing I was extremely disappointed in, was the way BIgboyshobbies packaged my detector for shipping. I'd take a piece of 150 grit sandpaper and roughen the interior of the clamps to better grip the texture of the carbon fiber shafts.I just hope it holds up over time.

I got mine from Rich backwoods it was packaged excellent and gave me a discount i'm non military .One thing I was extremely disappointed in, was the way BIgboyshobbies packaged my detector for shipping. Huh' I was just thinkin' as I sometimes do. Maybe my EQ800 shaft is out of line. This would explain why I am always going in circles.I hear yah.----Nothing worse than an out of line coil or a loose shaft.
I don’t think they do, I’ve looked everywhere for one, without the 6” coil when I was buying mine, couldn’t find one anywhere without it.Do they sell the 900 without the 6" coil in a package ?
Anyone have a link if so.
I think I might wait for Nox 1200 to come out . lol-- In the meantime ,Im satisfied with nox 800 . I wont be running to the nearest dealer to get the latest . Some of you guys must have 10 detectors . $$$ - mikeI've been swinging an XTerra 705 since Minelab came out with them about 13 or 14 years ago. It's a good machine but the technology that went into it has been surpassed by leaps and bounds. It's been around the block a time or two so it wouldn't sell for much in the current market that'll soon be flooded with used Nox 600 & 800 machines. It'll make a good loaner to get a newby interested in detecting.
I've watched a ton of YouTube videos of the Manticore, XP Deus II, Nokta Legend, and the Nox 600, 800, 700, & 900 as well as downloading and studying the user manuals for all of them.
The Legend was my initial choice mostly due to it's current price but there are enough negative reviews to send up a red flag. The Deus II seems a bit complicated and the Manticore might have a few issues o work out. The Nox 600 & 800 got ruled out for their build quality issues. The 700 is a stripped down version like the 600 so I went for the 900.
I ordered it from a dealer in cowboy country using the military discount and got it for $934.15, free shipping, free Minelab hat, finds bag, and carrying case for the machine. The Cowboy dealer doesn't charge sales tax and for me that's the equivalent of another 8% off the MSRP. I'm looking forward to putting it through it's paces when it arrives.
John, the 6 in. comes in the box packaged from the factory. If it is cost concerns, sell the 6. A lot of people would love to have one. Me personally, I have not had the stock coil on the 900 yet. That 6 in. is like a laser, more stable and not much loss on depth.I don’t think they do, I’ve looked everywhere for one, without the 6” coil when I was buying mine, couldn’t find one anywhere without it.
