...we were hitting a plowed gourd field in Northern Mass. Using my EXII, it started interrupting me with that cascading cacophony signaling low batteries. I had to split soon anyway, so I just started sweeping the coil randomly on the un-plowed periphery to see what i could find before the machine shut down. I ended up shutting off the machine after finding nothing and was chatting with one of my pals when our other buddy, first day out with his Explorer II (bought it used), got a solid silver hit right where I'd walked. I went over and watched him dig...and dig and dig. At 10" down, he pulled a beautiful 1830 Capped Bust half dime. No drop down, it was in the last solid clump he pulled. I watched the whole affair, including the reading on the TID in the top right of the screen. Could another machine do that? Maybe, I don't know. All I do know is that someone who barely knew how to hit the red "on" button pulled that beauty (VF) out of it's 10" grave. So, I'm convinced by that show that much of it is indeed the machine. Stick with it, because its performance will just blow you away.
