Hey there hunters, seekers, and detecting gurus,

Here at the Tesoro factory we're always working on new developments and new ideas on the Next machines to bring into the industry. I would like to ask all of you to send us some feedback on any changes you'd like to see in the next set of detectors, ie.. machines with different options, new units with different features, new decal color schemes, anything. I truly believe for a company like ours to keep advancing with the changing times, we MUST go back to our roots, and this means you guys, the customer. Thanks again and keep hunting.

That's easy.:) A detector that's specially designed to seek out deep silver coins.

The different features that it should have is the hard part.

Being a relic hunter, I would like to see a Vaquero/Tejon high gain type machine with 2 tone break Ferrous/Non-ferrous.

VDI would be great also.

I would like to see an AT Pro Killer, waterproof to 20'

New updated VDI Machines

What I would really like, is a radically new designed Pole System that would breakdown effortlessly with a small footprint, quick to deploy, and compatible with current detectors.

I wish the Vaquero had a different Threshold for all metal and discriminate modes.

Definately what Tabman said. I would buy a specialized silver coin seeker from Tesoro in a heartbeat!

I am with tabman we all know your detectors are good at finding gold, but it would be so nice if you could make a 5 kHz machine for silver with a nice ground balance, and an ED 180 dial & a threshold AM as well . would also be neet to have a two tone break like the Vistas for its disc mode but before i made one it would have to prove the 5khz is deeper on silver but at least thats somthing I would really like to see is a low khz machine, I miss the musky that minlabe made.

Second that one, Tabman hit the nail right on the head. Use a lower frequency like 5 KHZ or below. Ground balance and nothing fancy. Give it the sweet sounds and characteristics of the Umax series, but deeper to find the deep silver past the 10" range. I will buy the first one.

Let me congratulate you and your Company regarding this request! :clapping:

It shows a willingness to get some field input from some rabid and loyal users of your product who will only have your best interests for growth and success at heart...that said, I do not have a Tesoro, (yet) I just really like the cut of your jib and have a great respect for these forum members and their skill with your machines.:please: In an effort to do my part for lurking here,

Scanman got me thinking...picture a straight shaft that flares out near the end..like a long baseball bat, the big end is where your electronics are housed, and is clear lexan of some sort...is nearest your body below your elbow... the little end is where the coil attaches...picture the end cap below your elbow screws off and houses 4 AA's...

Now picture NO external knobs or buttons of any sort...just the headphone jack and coil plug, all settings are operated with a magnetic "key" externally by tapping or sliding the "key" along the length of the "bat" below your forearm, which activates the settings and lights up small internal LEDs so you know where your settings are at...all you need is on/off, sens, disc, four tones...volumn would be regulated by the headphones...the "key" could be in the shape of a ring and worn on your scoop arm thumb or index finger to make quick adjustments on the fly, with a spare inside the battery enclosure for the eventual loss..

Of course built like this, the whole thing would be waterproof like all get out, completely eliminating weak spots in other designs, it would look like nothing on the market today, sleek, no aluminum tubes anywhere, nothing sticking out or open for damage...instead of shortening or adjusting the shaft with pin holes and cam locks, the thing comes factory length, and you simply adjust the handle and elbow cup up or down to suit your needs...a real fresh water killer or wet weather hunter, ..hell, I bet you could drive over the thing with a truck without hurting it.....

A simple pull trigger below the housing like the whites have so you dont have to change uour grip to go into all metal mode or pinpoint.

A nice BIG screen unlike the cortes or deleon which looks more like a cheap calculator.

Grips that can be changed, like owning a gun where you can customize the grip you like. You could offer several different styles that are easily swapped around.

Four tones

Make them black!

More sensitive to Silver!

Volume control

Audio frequency so we can tweek how it sounds to OUR ears..

A faster sweep design or adjustable sweep speed if thats even possible.

Adjustable s.a.t.

Rap this all up in one machine while keeping it lightweight. Of course keep the manual gband fast recovery speed too.

That would quite alot of people DOWN and your bottom line UP.....that I gaurantee...

1. A 4" H.O.T. hockey puck coil 2. A Vaquero with an "all metal/no motion all metal" switch like the Outlaw; auto ground track + manual ground adjust. 3. A Lobo in a micro-max design with auto & manual ground track 4. A dual frequency machine (maybe). The jury is still out on this one because it would take away my excuse for two detectors. 5. More professional colors like flat black instead of Barney Purple (or safety yellow). BTW, the Outlaw is fine in that department!
A well built probe that goes deeper than the Minelab or Garrett?

I really do like the Pachmeyer grip option, IDX! :clapping: That alone would make Tesoro a fortune if they fit other MFG. existing machines with the same tube dimensions...

A Pole/Shaft that telescoped with cam locks similar to a monopod with a quick change adapter/connector for the coil. Unit would be fully operational in less than 30 seconds and fit into small Tesoro bag. I would be willing to pay a premium for this accessory. Something similar to this maybe?

To me, a hobby is something I like to customize to my taste. And even that changes depending on the mood. Why not a whole line of custom stuff? No one buys a stock Ar-15 and not deck it out. Or a car, a guitar, etc... not that this is really important but again, be different. Maybe the ladies would like pink faceplates specific to their model like changing a phone cover? How about an adjustable angle at the bend where the grip meets the upper shaft? This would be nice since we dont all like the same grip angle. Make the display housing swivel so we can set to Our view position and not the 8' tall guy who must have designed the whites gt. How abouta lower shaft which the coil can rotate via a switch on the fly? That would be cool. As the terrain changes uphill or down simply change the angle as you walk. Oh ya, the most important of all, when it finds silver can it say " roundness in the hole " instead of a tone?? J/k I hate those guys.

Anything is do-able now a days...just is it manufacturing feasible and profitable? Tesoro has to focus on their strengths and reputation/legend of being fast, simple and light...capitalize on that already built foundation....I am intimidated by high tech, there, I said it, so a CTX 3030 or even a Deus is something I cannot comfortably understand or set up...but still, if a company can take the good things out of previously worked areas like the Deus shaft construction, and couple it with their existing electronics tweaked into a modern looking package, all the while keeping the price at a reasonable level...thats the ticket!.

Some other cool ideas that work are like what Harley did...the HOG, (Harley Owners Group) talk about brand loyalty! How many other companies can say their customers have their logo tattooed on their bodies?

Not about tattoos, just the degree of growing the customer loyalty built, (which Tesoro already has) lets say a Tesoro user was going to Cancun/Miami/Australia for a week, if he was a member of the TOG, he would contact the company and tell them what resort he was staying at ahead of time, and a damned old Tigershark or Sandshark and a scoop would be waiting behind the desk for him to use while he was there? Or one of the local TOG members would show up with gear and beer and a place to go hunting? How freaking great would that be? Just by building a TOG group with yearly dues maybe and get togethers and spiffs would pay even without changing the existing product...and keep a customer for LIFE.

A great and wonderful thread for sure, gets a guy thinking!

The one that comes to my small mind would be a light weight compadre wader. No more than 10 feet down. Like I said,,, a wader. Still light weight. Would you make me one. Maybe two.... KEN.

I would love to see a Tesoro Pinpointer. ....... How about a Black and Silver color scheme for a new detector?

Thanks, RJ

I'm just going to think out loud for a minute:

I don't care about the colours. I have a Vaquero and the purple doesn't bother me in the least. What I really don't like is camo. Why would anyone want that??

Waterproofing is a good idea, but not on every model. A wading machine like Ken mentioned is a good idea, and the Compadre circuitry would be a fine candidate. Someone mentioned waterproof to 20' but I'm not sure that makes sense. It should either be waterproof to a very shallow depth, or a great depth like the current water machines. If you have it deeper than you are tall, you are going to have scuba gear and why be limited to 20'? It would be nice to have water resistance on all models, so a bit of rain won't hurt.

Has anyone ever built a machine that is switchable between VLF and PI? Create circuitry like that and put it in a waterproof uMax case and you are going to have quite the beach/water machine.

The Golden uMax is an interesting machine, and I think that should be reworked with H.O.T. technology. The tones are good, but don't get caught up with too many tones like most of the competitors have. I can't understand how anyone can get used to that calliope of noises. Make the Golden switchable between single, 2 and 4 tones. The 2 tone could be a ferrous/non-ferrous tone.

It would be cool to have wireless technology available on all models. I don't think the machines should be sold with headphones, because that is too restrictive (as in, I want to try various headphones before I buy one), but have the transmitter built into the circuitry. Kleer seems to be better than Bluetooth. Make it so that it works with any commercially available wireless headset. There are a lot on the market, but the massive transmitters exclude them from use with metal detectors. With wireless functionality built in, you could buy the perfect headphone for yourself and just chuck the transmitter that came with it in the trash.

I don't believe digital screens with target ID are the direction to go. There is too much competition in that market segment. It would be a monumental task to top what's out there already. Tesoro is known for their awesome beep and dig machines. No one else is making a wave in that market. Don't fix what "ain't" broke. If having a display is a must, then don't divide the segments into US coins. There are a lot of us who don't live in the US. Just use a number and let the user learn where their specific coins show up on the display. A graph (like the Cortes has) showing the composition is a good idea. Really, I think the only thing that could be improved on the existing Cortes is to use a larger display, drop the US coin markings, make the ground balance work in disc, and take the spring out of the SUM switch. For the people who like lots of tones, they could hunt in that mode. Maybe just add an optional single, and ferrous/non-ferrous tone along with the SUM tones.

On the subject of ground balance, any machine with ground balance should have that affect both AM and Disc. The AM only GB should be retired. The auto-track functionality of the LOBO could be added to some other models too. On the subject of the LOBO, a uMax model should be available as well. I think that's a machine that many would like to try if it was lighter. I've never even picked one up, but I have to assume it's a lot like the Tiger Shark as far as weight and balance. I could be wrong, but I didn't find the Tiger Shark very comfortable for land hunting.

Tesoro needs to get back into the pin pointer market. The Garrett is a good pin pointer, but I think Tesoro could do it better. Make it rugged and as indistructable as the Vibraprobe, but with range similar to the Garrett. Make the vibration more pronounced than either, with an optional audio output.

All Tesoro machines with pinpointing functionality should have the re-tune capability that the Tejon has. I often find myself double pressing the pinpoint button on my Vaquero just to be reminded that it doesn't narrow the pinpoint. I see videos of other supposed "high end" machines, and these guys are digging massive craters to find a coin. Tesoro's re-tuneable pinpoint functionality makes coin plucking a reality. That's good for the hobby in general as we can hunt a lawn and barely leave a mark.

Okay, done thinking out loud. Hopefully some of this is somewhat useful.

Talked with Rusty last week, mentioned during our conversation that I would like to see Tesoro come out with a multi tone Tiger shark.

Now to take that idea one step further. Lobo all metal ground tracking with the multi ( 3 ) tone Tiger shark. Now that I would love to see.

Decide to make either one of those for production , contact me for payment. I would be happy to buy one of the first ones out of the door.

Other than those thoughts , I would like the clean sweep coil to be brought back as an option for hardwiring to the Tesoro water machines ( Stingray to Tiger shark). Really liked the old removable coils and understand that the supplier quit on connectors. While removable coils would be more ideal on future water machines. I would like to have the Clean sweep as an option for my Stingray and my future Tiger shark purchase.

Keep up the good work and thank you for listening to your customer base,

Lakota
