Beechnut how bout this tell me what u have in them and I'll pay you for them test them against the yellows and GGUW's and post back as soon as I finish that day

Thanks You Bav, I have 4 sets sold for the CTX, a couple of the guys are going on vacation and would like to have them by the 19th of this month. which means I need a quick test to see if they are matched. I can say this, they rock on the Garrett's, and now the Excalibur....I believe these detectors audio output is DC, I tried the sovereign last night which is AC current....the test did not meet my standards. (SPL above 90db's) DC current has enough power to push the piezo benders, Detectors with AC current needs an audio coil to make them work. The sovereign is AC, I'm hoping the CTX is DC.....

Looks like my best op if I can't find anyone here in Baltimore is to stop by the Detector shop in Ocean View Delaware to see if he will do the quick test. If they work I can ship from there.....

Bav where are you located ?...and thank you for the offer, the big thing is I need to see the Sound Pressure Level on the GGA's , I know the SPL on the old GGUW's and the Koss yellows, I'm just hoping that since the Koss Yellows work, minelabs did not install the audio coil in them like the GGUW's, all are piezo driven....And that would mean they may do good on the CTX, you just never know until you have all hands on.......Joe

I almost want to order a CTX just so I can do some testing....since there is such a great need for a descent set of HP's...

I made my own and I absolutely love them and would highly recommend them to anyone. They sound great, they are not big and bulky, you hardly know they're even on. I've made numerous pairs for friends and they think I should sell them here as well. I bought a pair of H2O Audio's Surge Waterproof Headphones and the waterproof connector for CTX from Barry Extreme Detecting, slapped it all together (very professional I might add, lol) and they look like this:

(the cord is 40" but not shown here) - Why anyone would prefer bulky wet headphones over these earbuds is beyond me, tried both and would never use head phones again :) The only flaw I see here is that the earbuds are recommended to go no lower than 12ft., I've tested them at the bottom oof a 14ft. pool and started to experience a bit of crackling sound but quickly went away as I ascended. By far still a great idea.

Tested on the CTX at the detector shop in Ocean View Delaware, they work fine. But because of my lack of experience with the CTX I'm sending out a couple sets to 2 hunters for some test results before I do anymore, both hunters should be able to give me and others a fair report, Thanks. Bav24502 and HullGuitars

My quick 5 minutes with the CTX test. Very Clear tones, but audio was not as loud as I had hoped for so that is why I'm passing this on to someone who has all of the UW headphones for the CTX. Bav.......

Any update on the new headphones on the ctx? I imagine grey ghost is not in a hurry to make a amphibon for the ctx since they would be stuck
With all the unsold grey ghost water headphones they currently have for the ctx

Not so. The existing GG for the CTX are made in small batches so there is no getting "stuck" with unsold inventory.
It's more complicated than that.

For now - let's see if Joe OldeBeechnut is comfortable making the mod for the CTX using the Amphibian.

Thanks.

So what's the best option for CTX owners that want a waterproof headphone these days? Seems like OBN is only doing a small quantity of these so not available right now. Would like to get something for this summer to use. Is the connector readily available? Where? How much? Any particular mods to get the amphibians to work on the CTX? Other possible good headphone options?

Beach dude I really like your idea of creating an adapter on the headphone end of the cord to allow you to plug in any headphones you like! If you don't mind my asking where would you find (and what type of adapter?) an adapto to do that and go about hooking it up? Haven't done much soldering or electrical work but its a great idea I think. Thanks for any info!

I finally found a souce that will ship waterproof plugs to Canada economically so I ordered 2. They are back ordered but will be available in a week or so. They are made by Amphenol which is a brand I have heard of before so at least that is something.

I am going to attach one to my Sony MDR 7506 studio headphones, just for wading.

And I am going to create an adapter cable with the other one so I can plug in any headphones I want. I figure I will put a plastic clip on the 1/4" female end so I can clip that to my collar and keep that join out of the water.

Mirlen I have closed shop till after Thanksgiving, Hunting season is almost here and getting prepared to hit the beach. Links for the m-12 connectors..

Been using the Bulgins for several years now, much harder to install, but I like the bulkhead connector for the headphones. The Amphenol are as good and easier to install.

Hi, Just wondering what the part number of the Amphenol connector is? I sure would appreciate an answer.
