Cibola and Vaquero ... are they different?

Jay & Neil,
I spoke with a Tesoro tech today. I was told that there are components in the Cibola that are specific to that model only. I asked why my modded Cibola is deeper than both my Vaqeuro and Tejon. I will be sending all three detectors to Tesoro to have them looked at. I will report back and let you know what they say. When i get them back from Tesoro i would be glad to send the Cibola to either of you to test and report your findings.
Roger

As far as I'm concerned , I would be THRILLED just to see the modded Cibola go deeper than the Vaquero which to me is a more fair comparison .... To beat out a Tejon would mearly be the icing on the cake .... I would LOVE to hear the results of this shootout !!...... Let the games begin !!....Jim

Hey Roger thank you for the offer but I would decline on that, just wouldnt feel comfortable with someone elses detector like that.
You didnt say what the tech told you when you asked about the cibola compared to the Tejon/V on depth, I guess thats why your sending them in? Thats pretty wild sending all three in at once. I would have thought once you found out the cibola performed the way it does you would have sold off the V.
I prefer the Tejon performance wise but I keep my Vaquero for two reasons, one is that I wade with it using the 10" eliptical widescan with the long cable(the box is removed easily and super light hanging in a pouch around my neck) and the other is that is a great loaner being so light and simple to use. Its also a high tone model which makes it easier to hear for me.
Again I thank you for the offer to send your detector to me and please do report back on what Tesoro has to say.
Also Roger, they have no problem working on modded tesoros I take it? Thats great to know and I believe one of the things mentioned earlier in this thread.
Neil

I would decline the offer too. I know what I have and what it's capable of you have confidence in what you're using and you should go with it I guess...
Happy Hunting!

He's curious to the situation also. Their not working on the Cibola just going to compare it with the other two. I'm thinking maybe the Cibola was tuned to the coils i got with it. I'll let you know what they say. Its going to be a couple weeks before i'm shipping them out, gotta hunt planned in TN in 2 weeks.

I have a stock high tone Cibola. met a guy in a park last week with a Vaquero. got to talking and just for personal satisfaction we decided that when he got a signal i would check it with my Cibola. 23 out of 25 signals he got with the V i could also pick up with my C. now granted we were probably in low mineral ground were both detectors were running at optimal GB. he did set his ground balance negative on a couple targets after they were found and my C was able to get a strong hit and his V got a very week broken signal. tough to do a real accurate test due to ground mineralization and other factors but when both machines are running at optimal settings they are pretty much identical from what i can tell.
