Caution Selling Detectors on Ebay

New member
Use cation selling Detectors. I sold my 5900 di pro sl .I paid to ship across the country. I sent a whole package of stuff ,scoops books, and a perfect whites 6900 di pro. well buyer claimed the machine did not work well enough after a week. So he had pay pal reverse the purchase .Then i never got the machine back. The only recourse paypal gave was for me to contact the police department across the country and file a claim against the buyer. Do not use paypal to sell anything. The buyer can reverse the purchase and keep your Item. Use anything but Paypal. My loss $700.

Now, is this just Ebay, or something to do with PayPal? I don't like the idea of somebody pulling a PayPal scam like that on me. As for calling the cops.. got a donut?..Willy.

Its Pay pals policy on Ebay . This policy allows pay pal to access your bank and return the payment to the buyer for any reason. Now the buyer has the money and the machine and you have little or no recourse to get you machine back. It a loss Ill never use Pay pal again to sell.

That is ridiculous! There should be a mechanism that ensures a return shipment confirmation. (At the very least.) A cold sell has always carried risk, but to have a business (that's sole purpose is to help insure a safe transaction) allow there policies, to lack service equitability to both sides of the transaction is worrisome. Transaction signatures should be required clear through to the return of his money, and more importantly...your shipped goods.

Yes Ebay owns Paypal.

Ebay is just a plain old mess!!! wide open for scams,I will never take paypal for anything ever !!!

Been going on for awhile that is why alot of sellers will not take paypal .I also got scamed thru paypal right after the feedback policy change. Sellers can only leave postitive feedback for buyers  I left ebay it's a bad bad place.
nough said ,not for this forum

I got scammed way back about 1 year ago...I sold a 12V power supply to a guy in California...I got my money, the guy reversed the charges, he got his money back, and my item, and now Paypal wants me to reimburse them...HELL NO!!!...No emails, no notice, just tried to withdraw from my bank account...luckily, I only had like 5 bucks in my account (which they took), now they want the rest...I will NEVER pay them, and never use eBad or PudPal again....I will only sell items person to person, or with those I know I can trust...
Neither one of these cares a hoot about buyuer or seller safety anymore...They just want your money....I have had better luck with Craigslist...

Don't let it happen to you,

HH

Somethings not right here. First off, no offense but $700 for a 5900? Second, if the buyer complains about the item to Paypay, first you will get an email from paypal asking to repsond. If you don't respond in 30 days, then the will reimburse the buyer ONLY AFTER they buyer provides proof of return by delivery confirmation.

I know, I had an unresolved issue with a seller and had to go through paypal to correct. It was a headhead from the BUYER stand point and I was out the return shipping cost in the end. What was you item number on ebay so we can check this out.

Joe I agree something is not correct,
I purchased a detector via the forum here to be shipped to Australia as agreed by the seller. Unfortunately after I paid for the detector I could not contact the seller and guess what i used PAY PAL i filed a non received complaint and guess again the process takes 30 days and they contact the other party in my case there was no response from the seller and PAY PAL issued In my favour however because the seller had 1 cent in there PAY PAL account that's what i was reimbursed.
That's another story.
But the point Is at least here in OZ they make sure that proof of shipping or in the sellers case the proof of return before finalising a claim.
trixncap Im sure you can file a class action against them if you can substantiate the facts.

If e-bay and Their subsidy Paypal is that bad. Why would anyone use either service.
It seems like you hear one bad deal after another, day in, and day out. Simple solution is "Don't buy it, sell it, or pay for it with their services.
After reading all the scams, losses, and poor quality products people have gotten dealing on e-bay I will never buy from them, or sell.

Wake up "America". Find a better way.

Paypal will freeze your account ,bank account or credit card, for the amount of money in dispute.Believe me I know.
What was your Item number and what was your problem with the Item?

Maybe the reason the item was bid so high was because the buyer knew they were going to scam him?:sad:

Sorry one more thing,The buyer can also say they never got the Item and it is up to the seller to prove they did and even if they prove it was sent does not mean that it is proof that the buyer got it.Just be very very very careful with ebay.

I don't sell on e-bay but I have bought a few things over the years and have been cautious about it, and have been lucky I guess. I always pay with a postal and/or bank money order. One thing I thought of that might help is a seperate feedback website that exposes the bad sellers and buyers on e-bay. Giving the full details of the transaction, e-mail, shipping address, name, etc. of the person. It really bothers me when someone gets taken.

you got a genuine sh**t bag!..forget it!..you MUST move on!

The buyer was determined to win the bidd and drove the price high, he wanted it. It was a ($500new ) 6000 Di pro sl not a 5900 . Two coils,a sand scoop. hand shovel book 2 battery packs shipped, it was a good machine. I did well with it for years. I contested the return as buyers remorse. Ebay decided on the buyer and and raided my bank acct .But they have no way to enforce the return if the buyer is dishonest. I will Iook for the EBay item # and post back. There are 100s of other online auction sites to use. Ill just wont use Paypal again.
