Just be aware that this does not mean you will, in effect, get target ID down to all-metal depths, when using this cross-over mode. The depth at which the TID is triggered, will be no more, and no less, than the same TID disc. depth is. So for example: if you can get a whisper on a dime at 8 or 9", yet the all-metal mode goes to 10 or 11", you will simply get the TID still to the 8 or 9", and if it's beyond that depth, simply get an all-metal signal (no TID either way) for the final inch or two of that depth.
This is not a bad thing mind you! It can still be a useful thing. By having a signal on the utter fringe of detection range, often causes us to slow down, and cross-cross targets, to "try to bring them in". It is the same on various Whites, which have that cross-over mode too. I used to swear I could get deeper with that, but I could never "put my finger on why that was". Then it occured to me, that I was subconsciously being drawn towards all beep, double-checking them for accuracy, because the all-metal went deeper than the disc. So I would subconsciously find myself double checking and criss-crossing questionable signals, that perhaps I'd never have been drawn to, in straight disc. mode. So it's the same with the all-metal/disc. crossover on the SE.
