called garrett on headphones and...............

Well-known member
ok just got off phone with garrett about headphones....the at pro has a special screw in type plug and only the headphones that come with it will fit. although she said the can sell you the plug and we could wire it into our own headphones.. she did say the ones sold with the at pro are large and very comfortable. and that she is sure we all will like them.

The thing that bothers me about this is when a pair of headphones die in the field you can not just simply plug in a spare set that you or a detecting partner may have. In other words you must have the Garrett phones.

hmmmm

Not really, you just have to have the Garrett plug. I'm having a set of Grey Ghosts made up with the Garrett underwater plug. They also will be selling an adapter so you can use your favorite land 'phones, just don't douse it!!

If your headphones go out in the field the AT PRO has an external speaker to use. Chill out.

They or someone had a connector that fit the Garrett plug and had a quarter inch female end on it to use with your favorite headphones. It was about 3 or4 inchs long. HH :minelab::garrett::tesoro::whites:

Hummmmm. I never tried calling Garrett on my head phones before.
Will have to try that.:heh:

First I was told by a tester that Garrett was working on an adaptor, now its a plug to put on your favorite headphones. Think about this if you change the plug it will fit the AT pro but perhaps not your GTI, Fisher , Whites etc. etc. Most avid hunters have more than one unit and an extra pair of their favorite headphones in the trunk...I can't wait till this unit comes out and all the questions are answered and if I buy will be after I hear the pro's and cons as the following has not been addressed by Garret..Adaptor-plug etc., depth, salt water beach use, ergonomics to name a few.
I know Garrett reads or should read this forum and wish they would address the aforementioned facets without question marks or reading between the lines.
Again I have used just about every Garret made in the last 20 years and a couple of oldies but goodies and all have been well made, excellent units with excellent service after the sale but just too many question marks in these pre-release to public ads and am sure many would agree with my post...

Well said and I completely agree with your post.

Are you serious? I am bringing up a valid point that I am sure many others agree with. What serious detectorist even contemplates detecting without headphones in the field. And I don't think many are to happy with the fact that you may be forced to use Garrett headphones unless you make your own sort of Frankenstein adaptor. Garrett or one of it's testers let the cat out of the bag that an adaptor plug may or may not be available. None of us just pulled that theory out of thin air. We just want a straight answer. The Garrett forum has always been a group of level headed people. It seems that some of the Garrett loyalist are getting offended by serious questions about a serious machine.

take care

Thank you big cat. And is your source reliable about the info that an adaptor will be available for one to be able to use their favorite land detector headphones.

Thanks in advance
Jason

I tried calling garrett on my headphones but could not get through on mine.

I would say that since the head phones that fit the other Garrett water detectors fit the AT Pro ....Then the adapter Garrett sells for them will let you use what phones you want ..... There is no problem.

Once gain who does not use headphones if they expect to find good finds. And if the Garrett phones fail in the field you have to wait for another pair of 'Garrett" headphones to arrive in the mail rather than simply use the "supposed" adaptor tha may or may not exist to be able to use my own headphones. Why is it not sinking in with you people that this is an issue that many are concerned about.
WOW.

It has been stated by Night Train that the infinium headphones can NOT be used with the AT PRO. The infinium headphones have a different connector than that of the AT PRO.
there still is a problem.
here is the post talking about how infinium headphones will not work with the AT PRO.

[size=large]okay!!! say your phones go out while in the field. will the outside speakers still work under water up to 10 ft.? will you be able to hear them or will they bubble?
on calling garrett with your phones. where's the buttons for to call them with? is there an underwater number?

ya got less than a month to go. then the answers will start to come in. you're trying to get answers to problems that can't be answered by anyone but garrett and they aren't letting any answers out. you have no control over what's about to come out. if you don't like what the machine does or doesn't do then don't buy it.
i've seen some underwater machines that have the phones hardwired. it you don't like it then you don't buy them. these are electrical devise's. what ever garrett uses you can buy somewhere to adapt what ever you want if they can't or won't do it for you. you'll just have to wait to see how the problem is going to play out. Because your so negitive and paranoid nobody cares.

Maybe you should trust Garrett headphones they are quite nice.

Speaking of "who doesnt detect without headphones" that you mentioned...well heres a little info for you mr.negitive. I detect in woods in California looking gold nuggets and there are large amount of bears, mountain lions and rattle snakes and dont forget the f*****g Mexican mafia growing pot out in the woods that are armed. I myself, like to hear all of that so I can avoid them or defend myself if I come accross them, WHICH I HAVE....all but the lion.

So mr whiny pants, chill out about the headphones. Garretts are just fine, its all i use.
