APEX

The APEX looks to be quite an impressive detector ! What are your thoughts ?

I think it looks like a great mid level machine. Only missing waterproof, which could be a deciding factor for some people. I'm most impressed by the design and how light it looks to swing

Before the pandemic I actually traded in my foreign made machines for new Made In The USA detectors. I had a problem getting a very simple part from a certain Turkish company. The so called repair center here was no help. This changed my mind that a simple part could not be easily gotten. Now that we know we have had a huge reliance on many things made overseas, I think it's time we support our USA brands again. Been detecting since the 1970's and this is just my humble opinion. I'm sure an APEX will be in my future.

It will be all about price and performance, waterproof or not.

Man, just how much would it have taken to water proof that little screen? Good for shallow water detecting. The Ace 250 can do that. So it proberily it can out do the Pro series, but only to the waters edge. I just don"t get it, couple O rings a gasket. Good for ten feet. Well there go"s the wading gang.

Is it 5 tone in all modes or just in coins?

I think I recall some where mentioned, more is coming from Garrett.

Since I live in some of the worst red dirt on the planet and the Vanquish could not handle it, to have the individual frequencies when you need one is great.

kind of disappointed, they claim to be the lightest and best. Both statement are not true, the XP ORX is almost 1/2 the weight, it also has more frequencies (but not a multi like the Nox) they also claim to be the only one with salt mode, also not true, the ORX had it first.
The Nox is a multi freq, and has more frequencies than the Apex, they probably weigh about the same, but the Nox is waterproof. the Nox has a 40khz for gold as well as the 20khx, making the Nox a better gold gett-er as it will find smaller bits. but the ORX has them both beat I believe it is 71khz for the highest freq, will find even smaller gold, I I think there is larger gold in the area I can lower the freq, down to 14khz, but usually keep it near the 31khz.

If the apex was a PI machine they might have a winner, I feel they just put out another dud, just my opinion, sorry if I hurt the feelings of those of you who are Garrett fans, but the way they talked about it this morning was way off base, I only lasted about 20-25 min.

The apex is not intended to compete with either the ORX or Equinox. It's more intended to counter the Simplex and Vanquish.
