Anyone have any experience with the 10" elliptical 4 pin coil?

I like my 5.5x10 on my relic, although I only used it carefully once until the cover comes in.

How is the tesoro elliptical?
I like the fact that you get the separation of a small coil, but coverage of a larger coil.

Don't have any coils for my cibola besides stock and want to try another and this one fits the bill. Plus I can check if my stock coil is wonky for how much positive I have to go to GB it.

Thanks!!

think the 10 x 5 only comes with a 8ft cable which is 8 feet of pain unless your something mounting the lobo.

all my Tesoro coils are round , except a detech 8 x 6 , 4 pin which is a nice coil.

Yeah I noticed the coil length :-(
But I like the style of the elliptical and the performance of similarly shaped coils like for my relic.
Only comes in a 10 ft.
Maybe I'll call tesoro and see if they can chop down the cord to 3 ft lol.
Just curious because I would like that coil for my cibola.

only one way to find out if they will cut it to 3' for you

if not there are some aftermarket elliptical shaped coils.

AJ

Yeah I saw the cors one. I want a solid one though. Hate getting caught on twigs and stuff.

You have a soldering iron, what are you waiting for?

Haha I haven't gotten an answer yet whether the coils alone have warranties as well. I know the detectors with coils do and they'll repair coils under warranty of the detector, but if the coils have their own I don't want to void it.

Send it to Tesoro and they'll probably chop the coil cable short for you.

I just checked and tesoro does offer a short cable version but Noone has it. I'll have to order from them in the case of no dealers stocking it.
Downside it they do msrp where dealers give discounts.
So I can get the long cable one for 100 shipped or short through tesoro for 119 plus shipping. :-(

I thought you already got it.

Don't get it, save the money towards another detector!

Haha everyone is saying to use what I have lol.
I like that style coil and I'd like to see if my coil is bad and needs to be sent in before spending 15 to ship it and 50 to have it looked at lol. I have to go very positive on my stock coil to GB it. Plus I want an elliptical for that machine.

Then I'd suggest you get ready to start selling a lot of stuff on ebay lol. Seriously, coils just ain't all they're cracked up to be. Any dealers around you that you can go play with their inventory before you continue wasting money? I mean, you bought the Cibola by mistake, modified it to where no one else will buy it, and now you're going to sink more money into it?

I'll tell you real quick if you have a bad coil or not, post the resistance measurements of your coil and I'll check my good coils. Check pins 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, and 3-4......You'll end up seeing a transmit coil and a receive coil.

In my dirty dirt around here, the 5.75 DD widescan is as deep as the 9x8 stock concentric, the 11x8 DD RSD blows them all away.

I have a 10x5 elliptical that came with my GoldbugPro, I don't think you're going to be impressed.

Get the 11x8 RSD if you want to go bleeding edge, and have the deepest machine you own by far. If you want a smaller coil for the Cibola to hunt trash, grab your Bandito and 5.75...

Just throwing it out there brother, many of us have already been down this road, pains us to see you going down the same road.....
Don't buy six detectors and have a matched set of four coils for each detector.
:stretcher:

Haha thanks.
No I like the modded cibola and see no need to sell it.
I have my 5 pin coils that work for all my epsilon detectors but my cibola is my only 4 pin, so I'll have to buy mre coils to use more coils. The stock coil is ok. Not a fan of its size really.
My soil is good here. Besides the cibola, all my detectors GB about even on the knob.

Haha im not trying to buy the same coils for the different detectors. Only shopping for a 4 pin for my one 4 pin detector.

Why would you say I wouldn't be inpressed?

Would a cors coil be better?

If not the 10 elliptical, which would you recommend for the modded cibola?
I wanted that one because it's width should give good separation but it's length gives good coverage being a DD widescan. At least that's what my relic elliptical does.

So what you're saying is my Bandido wi th the 5.75 is a better idea then putting money into a coil for the cibola when I already have the bandido with the 5.75. It is a waste...?

And all opinions are good. Even ones that seem brutal.

You guys have been where I am and I appreciate learning from others "mistakes" if you want to call them that.

Tesoro's 10" elliptical coil is a good coil to use... especially when hunting in more mineralized ground and it was built specifically for Tesoro's. I was able to find tiny flakes of gold in Arizona while using it on a LST and Diablo Micro-max. As for the longer 8' cable...you don't have to wrap the coil cable around the pole. What I do is secure (velcro) the cable above the coil then run the cable straight up the pole and "lasso loop" the excess cable where it connects to the control box and velcro to pole! This method makes for quicker coil swaps and also stops unnecessary cable flexing which overtime can help alleviate cable problems due to repeated flexing:shrug:

My ground here isn't bad. I like the double d for its less need to overlap my swings and separation. So far of all my coils, my elliptical on my relic is my favorite. Pinpointing on the DD is different, but does well.
As said above why I like the shape.

its your money man, buy the hell what ever you want I recon :bouncy: I have a box full of coils of all sorts and shapes sizes, and I don't care what anyone thinks, but they do get sold off if not used for 3 years if they cant make to the ground in that time I don't need them

just trying to see if a marsMD will fit on my MX5 to test that brand coil waiting on that response.

its a fun sport spending money on gear is part of the fun and the pain

so hell you got a long way to go catch me and even further to some of the guys on here, I am just small time back yard funster :poke:

so spend away I say but don't forget to add a minelab just so you get to know some Aussie tech after all no one has come close to us yet for gold or park deep ID ing machines no 2 ways they are the best, but then its 2.5K for a CTX but despite its biggest flaw I have yet to use a detector that can find mid to high conductors as good as it , its a whole new ball game for park hunting.

leave that one with ya if you want to spend some cash get the best 1st then get some toys to play with.

and that's it minelab we are now fully square for the nice favour you did me.

I'm all about trying and buying other detectors, but as far as the tests I've seen, I don't want to spend that much yet lol.
My relic was a big purchase for me and I've had people say that it's as good if not better than some in the lower to mid 1000s area.
I have no need to go deep in my oarks. Tesoro is fine for that... as for deeper relics, my fors relic so far has been great. Deeply buried quarter at 13-14" was a pain. It found it though haha. Can only imagine the big boy coil on that. That quart was with the stock coil lol.
That's why I'm using my tesoros first over an area to get everything down to about 6" with my 5 pins, 8" with my cibola. Then if need be the relic to go down the rest of the way to China lol.

Today's hunt will be brought to you by my tesoro bandido II with the 8" donUT lol.
