After the AT Pro Upgrade...

I would seriously like to see the AT Pro/Gold built into the GTI 1500/2500 style box/shaft...I have NEVER been a fan of S rods...they make my hand fall asleep, as all the weight is in your hand...S rods should be a thing of the past...

HH,

I hate S rods. Give me a straight rod and some more coil cable and this machine would be close to perfect for me.

Here is a link to a video related to the subject. Would like to get opinions on it.

I don't like what I'm seeing.. Certainly different than what most people on this forum are reporting..
Makes you wonder now what is going on.. Hope someone can give some logical explination..
A lot of money to spend on a machine that might or might not perform as defined in other videos..
I want to believe this video isn't typical of the ATP..

I saw this video a couple of weeks ago and it bothered me so much that I was considering cancelling my purchase of the AT pro. I'm sure glad I didnt... as to what is happening here I can only guess maybe some of it is due to user error but I find it hard to believe with 3 different AT pro machines that he was getting the same results on all.

I'm not bashing him as a detectorist... for all I know the ground there may be some crazy mutant ground Impervious to the at pro lol
but I didnt let one bad story bother me... I've already found a few coins 8.5 + inches with the AT pro. Its one hell of a machine and a keeper as far as I'm concerned (this is the upgraded AT pro)

Suggestion. When making video's to demonstrate something, it really helps to be able to hear the audio. This may have happened later on but I bailed after it became clear the headphones were being used. No interest in someone telling me what he hears or not when I could hear it for myself.

Nope, not stopping me either.. I've used Garrett's off and on since the 70's..
Always liked them.. Too many good reviews, you're right..

I have a 504 serial # I got in Dec. last year. I sent mine in a month ago for falsing and leaking. Got it back and the pinpoint and ground balance didn't work. How could they send out a repair and the pinpoint and the ground balance doesn't work. I was told they check them before they go out, so I guess something happened in shipping. Sent it back again. Tried it this weekend. I went to a spot I hunt regularly and didn't seem to be getting the signals I thought I should. I went over a big piece of metal laying on the top of the ground and could only pick it up at about 6 inches. Then I put a quater on the ground and could only pick up a signal at closer then 6 inches and only a good signal from about 5 inches or closer. My friend tried it with his ACE 250 and could pick it up at 8 or 9 inches. My ground balance ued to be 80 - 85 now it was 65. I keep seeing all the good results everyone is having with the updated units, but I'm really sick of fighting with this piece of junk. I put up with the falsing for 9 months, but at least I could make finds. Now it's quiet, but what good is it if it doesn't get any depth. I'll see what Garrettt has to say, but I'm really sorry I bought this thing.

Seems they should give you a new one and see if it works properly if not then I would say its money back time..IMHO..

Good luck to U with your machine. I have a 505 serial number ATPRO and the pinpoint button has never worked from the gitgo when I bought it, but I never use it much anyway. I will not dunk this machine in water for a period of time because I think it will leak. I find alot of very deep small targets like brass and copper and aluminum with my machine and that's good. Found a brass nut 10 inch's down yesterday and some other targets that were deep. I have been detecting for over a year and I read and read the forums all over and I've never read about so much trouble with a detector like the ATPRO. I think to myself has there ever been a detector sold that has had this many problems and recalls, well, there probly has been but this Black yoyo is making headlines:rofl:

I got a way earlier one too like a 504# from the begining of last year like Jan or Feb. Sent it in in the spring to get the falsing and chatter quieted down from coil movement while twisting your wrist back and forth or hunting with it. Came back fixed been working like a champ since. Nice and deep!! I haven't dunked it yet in water but have hunted in light rain and mist I'm kind of affraid to do so I don't really want to have to send it back and I just called about the upgrade and extended warranty but now having second thoughts on doing so. I may just use it as it is right now even though I would like to have the new longer arm rod and the camlocks and extended warranty but it's working perfectly.

Tom, if you'd rather not send your AT Pro in, you can get an arm extension called the Garrett Gizmo from a guy who goes by the name dahut on this forum.

I have one and it works great. That was the original arm/cuff extension, David came out with it to correct a significant ergonomic issue quite a few months before Garrett did.

Oops, you're right Bill. Glad your memory is better than mine. Kenny House it is.

Sorry for the error and thanks for the correction!

I do have a Gizmo thanks and also a shaft clamp from Indian Nations Detectors but for an inexpensive new longer arm shaft and camlocks why not and extended warranty too. The Gizmo is nice and does help to ballance out the 11" coil's weight out on the end of the rod but when going to the new 8" coil it felt off so I removed it and it does add weight overall to the machine so now it feels really light with the 8" coil. I would like to have the newer parts and extended warranty to use with the 11" coil back on it but they won't send them to you you got to send the parts in to them I may just leave the 8" coil on it and use it as is as it's only maybe 1' - 1 1/2" less depth but way better seperation in trashy areas and easier to swing now. I got an Etrac for depth and a G2 for jewlery and a Omega8000 coins to also use. I mainly got the ATPRO for wet out days and water detecting but it is a great machine and I do use it quite a bit.

Still undecided to send it in or not. Waiting to see what this person's outcome is on his machine when he gets it back before I do but time is running out at the end of this year it's over.

Marc-Montana Did you get your detector back? Did they fix the problem?

???????????? Let us know if you got it back and is it now performing as you think it should??

My ATP International just returned from Texas after its upgrade. It returned with the same S/N but the "International" has been removed and the face plate has been changed from the International version (inches instead of Centimeters) to the US. Took it out for a quick test in the yard and all seems to work fine. GB at 92 which is normal for my area and was able to pick up my ring at 10" above the ground. I am happy with the results. It only took 24 days. The biggest delay was Canadian Customs as usual.

This Do-hickey was wrapped in plastic on the upper shaft.
Would anyone have any ideas as to what it is for?

Also since they didn't include them would anybody
have an idea where in Canada I could find the nylon
nut and bolt and rubber bushings?

21F (-6C) here this morning. I think I will put the ATP and
myself into hibernation mode for the time being. HH

Check hardware store for toilet seat bolts. Same diameter and they sell them as a pair real cheap.
