A Friendly Wager! My AT Pro VS Your Etrac

Greek2Me

New member
Ok, I have posted this at another forum and I can't seem to find any local etrac users on that forum.

Here is my friendly wager.

I am throwing out a friendly wager to anyone in the Springfield MO area. I am willing to bet the AT Pro will find anything the Etrac will find and maybe even more (coinshooting). I want to hunt with someone who is skilled with the Etrac. We can hunt any place you like that is public. If you have a private spot, that will work too. I hope I can eat my words, but the Etrac has yet to impress me. :)

To clarify, it wont be about who finds the most coins. It will be about who's machine will find the deepest coins and targets and see if the other detector will see the target in the ground and if you would dig that target.

I own both detectors, so im not bad mouthing either one. I just want a friendly face off. :)

i will have a go with you if you fly into east midlands airport uk i will find a field will be keeping an eye out for the results happy hunting

I think that G2M can sell that E-trac he isn't using and have himself a great holiday over in the UK ! ! !

After all, no sense in having a detector that is outperformed by a lighter and less expensive model.

Isn't Springfield down in your neck of the woods Ray MO? You guys could hook up with Guvner and go hunt some of the parks down in St. Louis.

Just a thought.

YEAH LETS SEE THESE RESULTS HEHEHE perhaps you would like the etrac guy to be handcuffed and blindfolded to give you a chance HAHAHA

Hey, if my AT Pro gets spanked, that's fine by me. :) I don't see it getting beat though.

Im hoping I can learn more about the etrac with this challenge.

If you own both then why not just do the test yourself and post a video of the results? Show settings on both machines and plant some deep coins. Would love to see the outcome....

I agree 100%
Also I am really liking what I am hearing about the AT Pro out there and hope to get one soon myself but for far other reasons then to think it will outperform the ETRAC in any way shape or form. I just want one because it is an inexpensive waterproof machine that maybe a lil better on gold that I can also have a buddy use and give me company while I swing my ETRAC.

I don't want to plant coins. I want real world hunting conditions. The reason I say that. I planted a dime at 8" a quarter at 10" and a half at 12". They both picked up the dime. The etrac hit on the quarter, the AT Pro didn't. However, the etrac didn't make a peep or show anything on the vdi on the half. The AT Pro didn't sound off, but did register an 85 on the vdi several times. So, its really hard for me to get a true feel for these machines with recently buried coins.

As I have stated, I just want to have some good fun with an etrac user and maybe get shown that my little $500 AT Pro can't hold a candle to this $1250 machine called an etrac. :)

Its all about learning, not bragging.

C'mon out!!---If I loose, I buy your AT Pro---if you loose you buy my Etrac.---Basement bargain prices, of course!------Man you've gotta give some incentive undertaking this highly dangerous (read risky) venture with our Etrac "bombs". :lmfao:------Oh yeah, does yours have the "fixed" coil on it?? :)

Ok I understand but if you cant find a willing person can you do a video then....We would all love to see it. Especially as the AT pro is great for the shore and soooo much cheaper then the E-Trac....You can plant them next to iron.....some on there sides etc...Wish i was close to you I would help!:beers:

That's quite a drive for me! :O

Both, my etrac and AT Pro have the factory DD coils. I did buy a 5" Sunray coil recently for the etrac. I haven't used it yet though.

My At-Pro can not out hunt my XT-705.

I have retired it to water hunting only so I can find deeper silver with a more reliable target ID on my XT-70 and XT-705.

Don't know about the E Trac because I don't own one but if I had to guess I would think go with Minelab.

Good Hunting

That Sunray X-5 is a good coil.---I've got it, also have the Excellerator 6".----They are both fine coils when there is a need for a small coil.--------Would be quite a drive wouldn't it?----------Del

I will be interested to see how they go with iron over the top of or next to a coin ( I already know how an Etrac should react)
I know this is one of the main reasons why I got my ET and suspect many others feel the same.
Or is deep the only way to in this case to see which is better ?

Still this exercise seems a bit like the old "mines better than yours" human trait
At the end of the day does it really matter ?
Garret v's Minelab, Chevy v's Ford ...different strokes for different folks - if we were all the same it would be a boring old place to live in. :)

Not in the same class as the E-Trac on deep silver. Not much deep coinage 9"+ in the Springfield area because of the rocky soil in many areas.Get in some deep black KS soil and the E-Trac has been hitting Wheat's,Indians and silver dimes quite often at well beyond the 9" mark for me and another forum member.
The AT is a great machine for the price but once you learn the E-Trac you will understand which is better for deep and or masked coins,Ray.
PS would love to compare some targets in the field but have no desire to wager as I do not gamble for personal reasons.

Can you guys go to the forum index and tell me if you see the E-Trac classroom or is it gone? Thanks!!

I don't intend for this to be a mine is better than yours challenge. This is just my way of trying to get someone interested in getting together for some good side by side hunting of two fine machines and then comparing the two.

I was stating on another forum that yesterday I was swinging my AT Pro over an area I had hit heavily with my etrac. I hit a 48 wheatie at about 6 inches with a large 3 inch nail and two half inch pieces of wire in the same hole. That was when I got the idea for a challenge of sorts.

I am also hoping to learn a bit about my etrac while I am at it.
