    One thing I noticed in these photos is that the coil is not positioned correctly… The lower shaft needs to be repositioned 1/4 turn , but has to be completely removed in order to do this. See photo….

    if you are getting bouncing numbers when the detector is held still, that is caused by electrical interference. The depth reading will be from the height of the coil to the target. Titanium will give a low number reading. I’ll see if I have one and tell you about what number it may read. To me...

    Man , you are making some great finds!!! Are those Burnside rounds next to the Sharps rounds? I am curious about the other bullet nearby that has what appears to be hash marks around the base… carved? That complete a Spencer round is very nice!!

    Nice finds there!! One thing I see that is good is that the ground is clear of brush so you can cover all of it. Looks kind of rocky though.

    I found one very similar to yours some years ago in a site that we found civil war bullets, but homeless camps were there also. Like you, I first thought it was some type gas or water fitting, but now feel that it is a pipe. The newer one pictured was found while detecting a local swimming lake...

    I used a small block eraser on some IH’s I found recently and they actually turned out pretty good. Before using the eraser, I let them soak in water for a few days also.

    Yep… things can change from great to terrible very fast. When those cuts are there, that is the time to get out there while it is good. Conditions were great for a day or two for me last year when I went to the beach, then things slowed down. Nice high cuts from strong winds.
