    Nox 900 1st V nickel

Look for a mintmark on the reverse at the 7 o'clock position. It "may" have one.

    Hunted Out Fairground Field ?

I hunted a fairground field fifteen years ago that was the sight of a one mile horse track that was used for harness racing from the 1870's to about 1925. When I hunted it back then I was able to find my first Silver Three-Cent Piece along with a couple of Barber Quarters and Dimes and assorted...

Washington was at the Barber Farm today

Yes,this fall should should produce a few more coins after the spring tilling and planting. The beans will provide a more level field for coil swinging. ;)

    Barber Farm gives up another.

You're getting some nice coins at that site. Are you pulling very many green Indian Heads or nickels from there?

    Barber Farm finds

Three Barber Halves in one area is almost unheard of. Hope you guys find more old ones. There could be more halves in there! Good hunting.

    One-Room Schoolhouse Sites

I have never had much luck phoning a land owner. It's much better to talk to them in person.

    One-Room Schoolhouse Sites

Thanks Ronstar. I have an app that will show the land owner name and address. Many of the land owners are out of towners or from out of state. When this is the case I will drive to the site and start asking at the nearby houses. Most people in the area know who farms the field and where they...

    Another Schoolhouse Site Today

I took another trip today to the area I've been detecting the last two weeks. I had to visit several schoolhouse fields before I found one that was huntable and I could get permission. Sometimes if the field was planted in corn instead of beans, it can be "somewhat" unhuntable. The field that I...

    One-Room Schoolhouse Sites

I have been able to hunt several one-room schoolhouse sites this month with the F75 before the farmers started getting into the fields. It's a little early yet for planting but many fields are getting fertilized and they have now become dry enough to start turning the soil. I have been locating...

    Amazing dug relic!

Nice! It had to be new when it was lost.

Finally, a couple hours out and some good news to boot!

Finding a silver quarter in a heavily hunted park is a good day. Sounds like the smaller 6" coil made the difference on the finds. Nice hunt.

    On the board for 2023

The finds are on the verge of warming up here in the midwest. The next couple of months before the spring planting is one of the best times for field hunting. Many midwest areas didn't have the dreaded multi-month delay this year.

No place like the river more big silver!

Nice three hunt total. Way to go on getting the Buffalos too.

    4th Ever Indian Head Penny

That's a tough call on the Merc mint mark! Looks like you had a nice hunt. Kind of odd that there were not more "newer" coins, it may have been hunted by someone else in the past.

    Revolutionary war scabbard!

Great relic find. Nice job on the ID.

    Gimmi' an "I"

Nice button. I'm always hesitant to do much cleaning on the eagle buttons. I do have one that I used lemon juice on that came out well with about half the gilt still present. The mule shoe brought you luck.

I'm going back in time instead of moving forward

I think what happens is we read stories about someone making great finds at a given site and they tout about how their new detector made all the finds possible. In reality they would have made most of the same finds if they had been using their other "older" detector. To be fair their newer...

I see First Texas is selling new F70's

Sounds like a good deal. Do they come with a 5-year warranty?

    FA

I use the FA with 2F when I hunt in farm fields where there was a one-room schoolhouse or other structure. Many of these sites have "ground zero" areas that are covered in nails. It will definitely help find good targets that are next to iron in these areas. A slow swing speed is required when...

Been a good month so far, I'm new so I'm giving this a go, this my wife and my finds for this month

Very nice finds. January can be a slow month in the midwest. Have you found any Indian Heads or Wheat Cents to go with the silver?
