First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

What detector have you used there and are there EMI issues in the area that you have noticed?

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

I don't find monster hooks on the beaches I detect ... at least not yet and I've been at it for a couple decades now. I also get very sea sick even with a plenty of dramanine in me so haven't had the need to use any monster hooks because I stay in the protected bays, inlets or freshwater. I...

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

When I search on information on stainless vs steel hooks I get results that say the stainless are not as strong and will break rather than bend and retain the fish. Glad the hooks you buy work for you.

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

Most hooks have highly modulated sound edges in all metal on the AQ and I can call them as iron. In tone or mute, many will be discriminated, unlike the bobby pins. I don't think I've hit too many stainless hooks if any. Seems the carbon steel hook is stronger than the stainless one of the same...

    Fooled again,

Eventually you will get real gold. As for lighters, have you found any zippo lighters?

FISHER NEW MULTI FREQUENCY DUE THIS YEAR (from Steve Herschbach's site)

Yes, wired with a connector. You can replace coils. Fisher delivered the 12.5 inch coil and had some 8 inch coils for sale ... as noted Eric made a few "right sized" coils. The modes on the detector are all metal, tones, mute and volcanic sand. I don't know what parameters change with the...

FISHER NEW MULTI FREQUENCY DUE THIS YEAR (from Steve Herschbach's site)

It is motion, but takes very little motion so it is easy to pinpoint. No pinpoint button. Mono loop, wired with a connector. Nails are put low or high based on how you have the detector set up. With bobby pins, whether it is the alloy in how they are made springy, or in shape, are very hard to...

FISHER NEW MULTI FREQUENCY DUE THIS YEAR (from Steve Herschbach's site)

In tone mode it goes low tone or high tone with stuff on the edge kind of modulated. Tuning is a combination of reject and ATS settings. The points of transition to low tone can be a bit sensitive on small changes to the ATS settings. In Mute, you either hear targets or don't hear them. What...

FISHER NEW MULTI FREQUENCY DUE THIS YEAR (from Steve Herschbach's site)

There was supposed to be one introduced about the time the pandemic hit and it never materialized. There was a one page brochure on it ... that I unfortunately have not been able to find to post here. The detector was named to. With no new information for two years and then it becomes a rumored...

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

The links on the chain shown are fairly small and a good find. Small links are hard to find it it doesn't have a good sized clasp or pendent attached too. Nice digs!

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

The stock battery is not the best. I was fortunate to get OldBeechnut's battery pack that lasts a lot longer; back when he was building them. Do you only have one battery pack? Try hunting a pattern of water to shore and then back shore to water rather than parallel to shore to reduce the...

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

Welcome to the small world of AQ users. Hair pins in the water are tough to eliminate when you can't sweep them from different directions. On the wet sand, walk around them and they almost always give a big double beep from one or two directions. They don't discriminate out well as you note. The...

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

My only real complaint about the Impulse AQ LTD is that it is susceptible to EMI that the Excal is not bothered by. I take both the Impulse AQ and an Excal to the beach so that if I hit an area with a lot of EMI that is killing the AQ, I can go grab the Excal. I can say positively that I dig way...

Can anyone beat this detection depth?

There are "in the sand" test videos out there (but not on this forum) of the Fisher Impulse AQ LTD doing better than that. I can attest to it's depth at the salt water beach but have no pictures to show.

    Flat Button Question

The back of the button gives you lots of clues ... "London Treble Gilt" Search on those terms and start reading. I did not find exact matches to your button in a quick look, but if you want to spend some time looking, you can narrow it down. Nice find!

PayPal & eBay income tax information

You need to keep records to show it was sold at a loss. It becomes a big issue for people doing garage sales and have no records of what things were bought for. Record keeping is going to be key. I've started recording when I find gold and silver and what the spot price is on the day found so...

Always like finding the old shot gun shells. Congrats on the 2 cent piece.

    Underground Iron Pipe

If it is the main feed to a property, the valves are normally not far from a road or right of way near the property edge. If you can't find it, might try asking the water company to locate it.

    CZ21 New

It looks like the last time Dak was on this forum was April of 2015. Ask away here on what you would like to know about the CZ ... I'm guessing you are looking at the CZ-21. Some of those with lots of CZ experience are not posting anymore, some are. I've still got my CZ-20, although it is not...

Looking for a Way to Remove a Tesoro 11 x 8 Coil Cover

I've used warm water ... slightly expands the cover while the larger mass of the coil keeps it slightly cooler. I've used paint stirrers to apply pressure on the cover to push it off. When it gets far enough to get something between the cover and the coil, I've used plastic pan scrappers to work...
